What if Sweetie Belle was invited to enroll at CSfGU?

What if Sweetie Belle got a scholarship to attend Celestia's school for gifted Unicorns? Would she decide to go, leaving her Ponyville friends? Would Rarity, with numerous connections at her disposal and inner circle of the elite, set her sister up to stay in Canterlot, like she has always wanted for herself? How could Sweetie use her relatively new cutie mark talents of helping others in a high class school, without Apple Bloom and Scootaloo with her?

YES, definitely! Ditch those lame-ass ponies in ponyville and focus all the writers' collective efforts on the magnificence of Marshmallow Imouto <3

I'll make a petition, Kifstopher will sign it, and then we will wait for results! \(^o^)/

Would she decide to go: Probably not, maybe though. idk

Would Rarity set her sister up to stay in Canterlot: probably yeah.

How could Sweetie use her relatively new cutie mark talents of helping others: I'm sure the same way that she does in ponyville

It might be difficult for Sweetie Belle to do that as it would mean leaving her friends behind, and Rarity would have mixed feelings about such an arrangement--she would be happy her little sister received such an honour and unhappy because she wouldn't be there to brighten up her day. I'm not saying Sweetie Belle isn't worthy--she is--but it might be too big of a leap for her.

there's always letter writing. And maybe Sweetie could learn teleportation while she's at the school, so visiting them in Pony would be just a spell away. Beats having to take the train.

Teleportation magic is difficult to master and from what we've seen from the show, fillies normally don't use it unless they were really dedicated to the magical arts. If anything, I'd say Sweetie Belle would prefer to stay where she is and maybe go to the school either when she is a little bit older or not at all.

Rarity would have inspiration for a new line of dresses! That alone makes this a worthwhile idea!

she would also have ample opportunities to dress Sweetie up- high tea at Canterlot castle, her entrance ceremony, school social events....

Honestly it is an idea worth merit for three reasons. One is that it would had a new layer to the CMC's friendships. Long distance friendships are a thing, and while not a huge distance, it fits. It also allows for that anxiety of friends growing up to be approached better, and seen from a younger person's lense. Eventually all three could tackle life's mounting challenges and balancing old friendships.

Thirdly, I wonder if they could incorporate Sweetie's musical love with advanced magical training.

I like Sweety.. But.. She doesn't really have that kind of ability.

Actually she shows no real ability for magic to be honest.

Would make no sense.

Twilight got into the school with no ability to even pass her exam, without help from the rainboom...why can't Sweetie?

I would love if Sweetie became skilled in song-based spells (like Belldandy, from Ah! My Goddess).

She could join a choir club in Cheerilee's afterschool reccomendation, but a scout from Canterlot could overhear And discover Sweetie's talents, who reccommends the magical training for her, which could only be available in Canterlot. (Good setup to get her out of Ponyville, for starters, I think)

Plus, with the whole long distance friendship thing with Sweetie, could also open doors for a former student of Sunbutt....

No ability is not quite the correct term.

This would be like a mutant showing up to the X-mantion and being given a test.

And then blowing the test up because of test anxiety. Ya its not passing the test, but to say that its the same thing as having no ability is a bit of a stretch.

Sweeties talents?

Are singing....

I get what your talking about the thing is. The school does not really seam to be a school for 'talents' ponies.

Its clearly a academic school for magic.

As in the clearly academic discipline of magic.

_

I'm not saying she's not talented.

I'm saying what you are suggesting is kind of like admitting a child to engineering school because they area amazing dancer.

Or Conversely admitting a child to Juilliard because they get a 160 on a IQ Test. (Juilliard is a arts school - sorry if me telling you that sounds snarky in text, I just don't know if you know that)

Sure 160 is Amazin IQ. But it has nothing to do with what the school teaches.

The actual magic we see Sweety doing is no more powerful then any other normal unicorn.

Her Non-magic talents are impressive. Its just that we don't know if there is a pony version of juilliard....

I don't know. Sounds like an English Major getting accepted into Med School (which is more and more common these days). Or a Business Major getting accepted into a College of Engineering. If magic school is more hollistic than just a simple meritocracy, who knows?

I don't want to sound like a meanie, but Sweetie Belle hasn't shown any extraordinary skills in magic. Now if they offered a music scholarship she might have a shot. Having suggested that, why would a school for gifted Unicorns cater to students who's skills weren't magic related?

what about musical spells? (As suggested in an earlier reply if mine) Sweetie has been shown to be talented in singing, so musical spells could be right up her alley.

Suppose it could make for an interesting scenario because of the conflicts that arises.

I just can't see it happening, though. Even if Sweetie Belle were to become a candidate, she'd have fierce competition and probably would be bested by more "gifted" unicorns. (Oh the puns)

She hasn't shown any aptitude in magic at all yet. If she does have some ability, I think it would be musical in nature though.

But we have seen no example of any skill in musical magic.. bit of a difference.

Kind of;.

Thing is if a English Major gets into medical school. its because they ALSO filled the requirements for medical school.

Same thing with a Business Major.

I had some one with a art degree as a lab partner in my masters program for Geology. But... She filled all the requirements to get into the program with her electives.

Some programs will let you in with the agreement that you go do all the required pre-degree work.

No program lets you in with out the required BA Work.

Does not happen....

Same ideal with the show and school.

If sweetiebell showed magical ability and singing? Then sure that makes sense...

but she doesn't.

It would be like the wonder bolts letting scootaloo into a program because she's really talented. - Ignoring that she is not a talented flyer.

Well, I don't think Sweetie has much in the way of talent in either magic or scholarship.  On the other hand, Starlight's case shows that pure talent isn't the deciding factor.

Rarity is one of the Elements of Harmony, so she has the social contacts to qualify + has 3 boutiques & thus is starting to have significant financial resources.

Final answer.  If Lyra can pull it off, Sweetie might qualify too.

I don't think that Sweetie Belle is really all that gifted in magic, so I don't see her doing very well at the kind of school.

Plus it doesn't seem like something that she would be interested in.
