science Do you believe in Bigfoot?

For some odd reason I want to believe that he is real even though I've never seen him. My uncle claims that when he was hunting one year he saw him and he ran away. I don't know if I want to believe that is true, but you never know. Anyways, do you believe in bigfoot? If you do I want to hear why and if you have a story behind it, I'd love to hear that too!

I firmly believe that bigfoot DOES NOT exist. It's flat out impossible that nobody has ever shot and killed one, or at least found a dead one in the woods. Also, now that everyone carries a phone with a digital camera, why are there still just blurry black/white photographs that could be anything at all? Also again, none have ever wandered out onto a road and been struck by a car.

I'm not believe in Bigfoot but there are other unexplained events that I do believe. I do remember one time my brother and I were out in the woods around my neighborhood messing around and riding bikes, and he swears he saw something that resembled Bigfoot (of course he was watching a documentary on Bigfoot before coming outside) and we gathered up our airsoft rifles (competition versions, so basically 415 FPS) and attempted to find him again. The only thing we caught? Bug bites lol

There's so much hype on bigfoot yet the only "evidence" is eye witnesses accounts, a blurry video, and a footprint. But NO ACTUAL BIGFOOT. No bigfoot corpses, no hair, no poop, nothing. All the evidence that has been provided is very poor.

Skeptical evidence alternatives: Get a man in a monkey suit and scare a bunch of people. Get a man in a monkey suit and record a video. Other people, having heard of bigfoot, see a bear and mistake it for bigfoot. For the footprint, create a bigfoot foot out of a rubber or silicone with a lot of detail and stick it in the mud. There are stage prop artists that can do this.

You'd think with so much hype, we would have found a bigfoot by now, since so many people are looking for him/are interested.

So until there is an actual bigfoot captured or a bigfoot corpse found or even a good quality video, I will not believe.

I think I read something a few years ago about analysis of purported "Bigfoot hairs" actually being from a species of brown bear that was thought to be extinct at the time. I don't believe that every sighting is an intentional hoax, but I do believe that something out there is being mistaken for a large hairy primate. Bear in mind, "Bigfoot" sightings have been a thing for a long time, including in the stories of indigenous peoples.

At this point, no. These days the idea of bigfoot is simply a marketing tool for incredibly stupid TV shows and not much else. Don't you want to watch a show about finding bigfoot and they always 'almost' find it? How fun.

No.

Simply because there is no way a multi hundred pound ANYTHING lives in north America. Has a large enough population to breed and has not been shot by a hunter...

Just sheer probability rules it out.

Or had a carcus found.

Or Fossil Records.

_________

The "We keep finding fish" Argument is a red hearing.

Because ya we keep finding new fish..

but we don't have hundreds of millions of people living in the deep waters of the Pacific Rim.;

_________

The ideal of Cryptids is cool. but for the most part most of the Famous one's are pretty easy to see they don't exist from a simply application of thinking.

Its pretty easy to tell a crap-tid from a real Reasonably possible Cryptid..

Also As a side note (Not a shot at people just a pet peeve)

I love when people tell me "I study cryptids." Because I get to say.

"oh that's really cool! Where have you done field work?"
And the most of them get a odd look on there face.

I love to read about dinosaurs is not the same thing as "I study dinosaurs"

And a LOT of people who actually study Crytids, are stump jumping morons who go about it with the concept of 'proving' something. That's not how Scientific Study works. If you are there to prove that something does or does not exists.. Go home.

I personally do believe in Bigfoot. There are too many unexplained things to just write it off as nothing. Granted, there are hoaxes everywhere, and evidence is scarce, but there IS evidence. Hairs and tissue samples were found at a camper's cabin in Washington state in the early 2000s, and it was sent to a lab for analysis. The result: "Unknown Species'. It may not prove its a Bigfoot, but at the same time, it IS an unknown species. So why was there no further investigation? Another similar case took place in Colorado in the late '70s. The same thing happened; lab results of hair and tissue showed an 'Unknown Species' similar in many ways to both human and primate. In Nepal, villagers were terrorized by a Yeti, which had attacked and killed one of their number. Many sightings have been made there since but few are reported because these are people living in remote areas that focus more on survival than buying the latest smartphone and posting a new Youtube video every couple of days.

As far as finding no bones or carcasses in the woods, consider that this is a rare or endangered species with few in number. If there are thousands of deer in the woods and sightings of their remains is unusual (I've seen a grand total of two ever) because of scavengers and general decay (a full grown deer can completely decompose in one week) there isn't much likelihood of finding a body, especially if they're living in remote areas and avoid human population as a rule.

Between people being conditioned to disbelieve such things exist, and the efforts of others to subdue the little evidence that's gathered, it's no surprise that even less ever reaches the masses. If you could somehow detect and bypass all the fakes out there, you'd probably find quite a lot of amazing real evidence. The only problem is that the fakers muddy the waters for those who seek the truth.

No way, the original footage was confirmed fake as it was somebody dressed up in a suit.  There is just no way something like that could exist with such a small amount of evidence available for it.

I do not believe that bigfoots( or is the plural form bigfeets?) exists. There's extremely little evidence that hasn't been debunked and what's left can be explained with basic logic.

I don't. I don't really believe in anything out of the ordinary, unless there is solid proof of this. I don't believe in anything paranormal either. I would only believe in Bigfoot if I saw it with my own eyes, since all of those grainy photos don't convince me. Also, I think with technology improving, more people will be able to create convincing fakes, making me even more suspicious of any new photos of Bigfoot.

I believe that it is very possible creatures like Bigfoot could exist. I don't find it particularly interesting or compelling if it was real though. All it is basically an oversized gorilla thing, potentially with humanoid intelligence.

It doesn't seem like anything really "out of the norm" so to speak. If it is real it probably knows it is best to stay hidden or else it will be held in captivity for the rest of its life and experimented on nonstop.

There is a series of books called Missing 411 that documents hundreds of cases of people going missing in national parks. The cases are so bizzare that they cannot be explained. Bodies turn up in places that have been searched, people go missing after leaving a group for minute, stuff like that.
