gaming Anypony else play Paladins?

With all of the junk that some people spout about it (Overwatch players who claim it's a clone. It's nothing even close. It's like calling Call of Duty a Halo clone, pretty much...), I feel like some of you should at least know of it. Put this thread here because I think there should be at least somebody else on this forum that actually plays this game, and maybe it can be discussed here. I play it on steam, and in-game (I WILL change it to something much better and less nooby when I get the crystals... If only I didn't already spend some on the Infiltrator Pip body skin...) I'm xPurplexx. I mainly play Androxus, Grohk, and Makoa, though recently I've been playing some Ruckus, Mal'Damba, and Drogoz (So that way I can cover most possibilities on my team composition). I've also played a good bit of Pip and Kinessa.

I think the beta is going on for the Xbox One right now, though it is not an open beta beta. I really want to play this game. I love team based multiplayer games, but I honestly think Overwatch is incredibly overrated and gets really stale, considering the price tag. The moment I can try out Paladins I will. It is free to play on PC isn't it?

It is, and it's also on Steam (I have it on Steam).

I remember that, i had a key for it whilest it was in closed beta (i think), used the key, installed the game, never played i single minute, always meant to, just never got around to it XD

I've already played 60 hours in about three weeks XD It's rivaling Team Fortress 2 and (bleh the community) League of Legends for addictiveness.

I think I can safely say that over half of my losses are because of DPSes doing trash damage constantly. I'm pretty sure if there are 3 people on the point, it'd probably be useful to try and deal damage to people on the point... I swear this happens almost every time I play Inara.

So, Barik is pretty freaking broke with Master Riding? 4 straight wins, and then a loss because a moronic pair of flanks did absolutely nothing the entire match. Might as well have been that way. Would have went little different than it did... Still managed to go 6/14/16 even 3v5ing.

Used to last year sometime and became the best Drogoz in Australia at one point and then the game got updated a bunch and I couldn't run it anymore.

Wow. I'm pretty mediocre with Drogoz personally, though I do Bomb King a little bit better (Go to the point throw out a Q and then bomb everyone to death. It is a pretty good strategy to be honest :P)

Well that sucks I guess...

Personally, I'm probably about Plat with Barik and Grohk, and possibly with Androxus as well ( I can't say yet because I only have 10 champions at rank 4 and higher (I'm getting Bomb King and Mal'Damba there soon enough, though). I have like 3 or 4 rank 9's and 10's though. :P).

Mal'Damba is still garbage. I'll do Lex whenever they nerf him.

I have noticed some pretty big balance problems as of late, like the tankish guy that can go invincible for a little bit. That cane be spammed on a point to hold it for allies and it is incredibly. It is like Reaper's ability but somehow worse.

I have been playing a lot more of this game and I do like it, but I hope it doesn't become a joke like Overwatch is now.

I'm not sure who you're talking about... I'm assuming Fernando with his ult (that does basically no damage, unlike Reaper's)? He's actually considered the worst tank, probably because the flamethrower does like no damage unless you have the right loadout, which basically ends up making it really hard to actually play like a tank. His ult also slows him down, and you can take advantage of that by just waiting for it to expire and then kill him. He might be better on console, though. The real problem in tank-land (well, on PC) is Makoa. He has a strong ultimate (which they BUFFED on PC last patch), and his hooking can be an issue (It was nerfed last patch, which is good).

The game can be sort of a joke in competitive. Seriously, I swear almost every Viktor main in Comp is a troll (like look at last match, a DIAMOND Viktor main went 1/10/0 and did the worst of the entire team and decided to blame everyone else...). They all deliberately try to lose and then blame their teammates for their flawed strategy. I mean, DPS mains seem to be that way in general though. Makes it hard to main a front line. (I know from experience, being that I main Barik, and I got him to Plat a week back.)

Grohk is the one I am thinking of in this regard. I don't have him so I ddn't know the exact details but I remember seeing that he has some invincible ability where he sorta phases out but is still visible, like a ghost. That one is pretty irritating but I haven't experienced it too much.

He can be irritating (I mained him back when he wasn't trash on PC after a new champion released in OB49), but he's not really too tanky. He only has 2700 health I think (actual tanks in this game usually have 4k+ along with a lot of shielding, or damage reduction. Grohk has a tiny bit of shielding, and pretty decent damage reduction with the right cards). His Q can be taken down so he has no healing, and he doesn't really do that much damage. Also, his ult is complete garbage. Grohk can easily end up suiciding with his ult. What I personally find more irritating than anything is Tyra's Q. It's a non-ult ability that can do 90% max HP damage... It really sucks when you play tank and try to cap and then a Tyra just throws one Q down and your health just starts to just melt away. It happens so often that Tyra's basically become my mortal enemy.

Just going to ask, who is your favorite champion so far?

I guess my favorite is Pip. The more I play the game though, the more I don't like it.

I used to play a lot of Pip, and I play him from time to time when my team needs a support. Though usually when I play him the entire team decides to gang up on me. Same kind of thing happens when I play DPS (It's pretty rare).

Yeah, this game is a fucking pile of trash. The entire game is centered around DPS and that's it. No point playing support when any non support character can just rip you to shreds within seconds. This game takes Overwatch, an already mediocre game, and somehow makes it worse. Awesome.

Eh, I've seen gameplay and it looks line garbage tbh. I'll stick with Overwatch, which I highly enjoy. And is now since launch much better.

Should we really expect anything other than shit from a game that exists just to rip off another game? At this point, I don't think so. This game has so many problems right now.

This game, quite frankly, is NOT an Overwatch clone/ripoff. It has several differences, including the setting, the cards, the items... This game was also in development before Overwatch was, too... The attitude in that statement reminds me of when I last talked about League. Seriously, I may sound like a hypocrite here, but I don't like the negativity.

Balancing-wise, this game isn't too bad, though there are some champions that need buffing (Grover in particular), but, honestly, it's not as bad as League is about it and that game's been out for 8 years, and this game's only been in open beta since September of last year.
