As a person with a best friend who is diabetic, I never thought the "Ha-ha, diabetes is funny!" jokes were very appropriate. I wish people would stop with it. It's not funny. I was with her once when she went into diabetic shock and had convulsions. Nobody at the scene was laughing when it happened. She could have died. No, she isn't fat, but yes, she is legally blind now. She can still see, thankfully, but can not drive and needs a magnifying glass with her everywhere she goes. Not too long ago a bus driver yelled at her when she said she was legally blind and couldn't read the numbers on the bus. The @$$hole accused her of lying, and closed the doors and drove off. Now when she's going to use the bus, she carries a red tipped white cane so jerks won't hassle her when she waves for every bus and then asks what route it's running. (Several routes converge at her stop.) Much as I wanna sympathize with your anger, there's no need to call someone names because he can't read your friend's mind. With the number of people out there who use handicap or health conditions as an excuse or joke about it for cameras and stuff, it's easy to assume someone is guilty until proven innocent. That, and with all this "poor handicapped person" mentality, it's difficult to believe someone who's actually blind would dare venture outside. It doesn't excuse anything of course, much less being rude to someone simply asking what the number on the bus is. But it's the reason many people would rather come across as douches and stay safe, than be kind and risk helping terrible people. ... Right, the reaction picture. We made it to page 100, everypony! She was standing out in the rain, and nobody was there with a camera. the driver had no call to accuse her of lying. He could have just stated the bus run number, which he DID NOT do. He instead claimed she was lying and drove off. I think he deserves more than just being called a name.
