spoiler Could Thorax's assertiveness backfire on him?

I still don't think assertiveness is the way to go for Thorax, at least not yet. He should ease into it. Imagine if you were one of the newly reformed changelings or even an impressionable young nymph. If they saw their normally gentle, passive leader acting like that, they may make the wrong assumption and think it's like Chrysalis all over again.

That's not who he needs to be assertive against, it's the ones who aren't reformed and don't respect him when he does try to be gentle and passive. And it doesn't seem like we're getting Putting Your Hoof Down 2.0 later where he can't tell when to stop being assertive and when it isn't the right time.

I think he is not assertive enough to make the changeling feel like that. He probably will still be gentle and kind for the most of the time.

If I don't understand something or Interpret it wrong, I'm dutch. Sometimes I gamble for meanings of the words. And sometimes I write the wrong words, like week and weak for example. Sorry for it already. :smug:

With "To Change a Changeling" coming up soon, I would wait to see how they manage the dissidents' situation.

I think it's safe to presume that Starlight and Trixie will help them to understand what comes next for their society and accepting the new ways of the swarm, if only because friendship solves everything in this particular world. With that solution Thorax could become more assertive on his commands without being too hard, he's already quite friendly so that makes me think he wouldn't turn into an authoritarian ruler no matter how assertive he becomes.

I don't think they would go with a more realistic situation, because changing old customs on societies with recently overthrown governments is an issue that has been proven to be specially difficult without an authoritarian government, a soft leader not willing to impose the new way of things is most likely to face a polarization that could bring the society either to be divided in two or to fall into a civil war. And as I said before, I don't see Thorax turning authoritarian and I don't think a few assertiveness would help him to stop a polarization issue on a "realistic scenario".

Yeah, i aswell think that just being assertive doesn't mean being a horrible manipulative oppressor.

He's gonna be agressive where he needs to be but always try it the nice way first because that's the way he is.

And that is good.

"You are right Starlight, you are more talented in magic than me. But talent doesn't mean, that you are privileged to have more power. It's the heart! All you need, to have power, is a heart!"

Assertiveness is always the correct way for leadership, especially for those who disobey his wishes for a good change and want to continue being evil. He doesn't need to be like that all the time as he already has the backing of most his people and they're cool with him being in-charge being the natural nice fellow he is. But when it comes to troublemakers then he has to put a hoof down and be assertive about his position and not let these out casts walk all over him and bring down his respect as a leader.
