While yes. I agree that Thorax being assertive COULD work, is it really the best course of action? And Ember's line "And if that doesn't work, just turn into a bear". It sounds like a good idea on paper, then you remember: they're CHANGELINGS. a rogue changeling could just transform into a larger, stronger creature to counter.

I think that Ember was using the anology of Thorax's earlier reaction to tell him "And if that doesn't work, show them how serious you are".
