Which Ponies of the Mane 6 Would You Pair as BFFs?

Now, I know you could say that they're all equally BFFs, but you can't deny that, sometimes, you'll have that one friend out of your whole circle of friends that you just get each other more.  I feel like there can be exceptions like that, even with the Mane 6.

 Please keep in mind that this isn't a shipping thread, it's more like friend-shipping....  Or rather, BFF-shipping, in this case, I guess, since they're all friends already.

I'll allow pairing up the Mane 6 with Starlight Glimmer or Spike, since they're also a part of the main cast.

 

Who I view as best friends, based on some of scenes I've seen in the series:

Fluttershy/Rarity:  There have episodes in the past that really made me consider Fluttershy and Rarity to be very close friends, but I can't remember them all.  I do know that Rarity had often been supportive of Fluttershy and helped her to boost her confidence as well.  In the first season, with the episode of Fluttershy becoming a famous model, Rarity tried to hide her jealousy to support her friend, which can be hard to do sometimes.  I also believe Rarity and Fluttershy would often spend time having tea together, in some of the earlier seasons, and Rarity even called Fluttershy her best friend once, but I can't remember the episodes that referred to that.  There are just so many episodes now that I can't remember what exactly had me establish a strong feeling that they were best friends.  Never-the-less, I can say that Fluttershy and Rarity have some shared interest in fashion (with us discovering Shy's interest in the area when she showed great knowledge in the area by critiquing what she didn't like about the dress Rarity made her) and Fluttershy had helped Rarity on a few occasions with her cat and filly-sitting.  I feel that Rarity has been the most effective at boosting Fluttershy's confidence because she gets more on what helps Fluttershy to reach that path.

Pinkie Pie/Rainbow Dash:  There have been quite a good amount of episodes that showed Pinkie and Dash getting along quite well.  Particularly, they seem to enjoy doing pranks together and having good laughs together.

Apple Jack/Rainbow Dash:  I have to say that I can't quite decide between AJ or Pinkie being best friends with Rainbow Dash because they definitely have their fair share of good chemistry together.  Apple Jack and Rainbow Dash are both very competitive and enjoy competing together.

Twilight Sparkle/Spike:  Even though Twilight is the Princess of Friendship, she doesn't really seem to really have a preference in best friends; she seems to treat all her friends equally.  If there was anyone I'd consider her best friend, it'd probably be Spike since he's been with her through thick and thin.  Growing up together, they seem to understand each other very well.

 

Honorary Mentions:

Discord/Fluttershy:  Obviously, Discord really enjoys Fluttershy's company and Fluttershy did help him to turn a new leaf.  The only reason I didn't list Discord is because he's not frequent enough to be a main character.

Twilight Sparkle/Apple Jack:  If I'd have to pair Twilight with one of the Mane 6, I'd say it'd be Apple Jack.  Both are quite sensible ponies and I find them to often be in agreement with each other.  Whenever the Mane 6 are being ridiculous and AJ points it out, Twilight tends to back her up.

Twilight Sparkle/Pinkie Pie:  There have been some good episodes that could suggest Twilight and Pinkie as BFFs as a good possibility.  Pink could help balance Twilight out from not being too serious and remembering to have fun.  Still, I don't think AJ and Pinkie quite beat Spike in the spot for being best friends with Twilight.

Fluttershy/Rainbow Dash:  Fluttershy and Rainbow Dash grew up together.  It's evident that Rainbow Dash is quite protective of her, but my view is that it's more of a sisterly bond than BFFs.  I feel like Rarity has spent more time with Fluttershy than Rainbow Dash.

Starlight Glimmer/Trixie:  They get each other, due to their wants of redeeming themselves from their past.  Again, Trixie isn't too frequent of a character to be considered one of the main cast, so I'm listing this relationship here.

Starlight Glimmer/Twilight Sparkle:  Both share their interests in magic and have similar personalities; however, I see it more as a mentor and apprentice relationship.

Rarity/Apple Jack:  Listed here more for humor, but if they were best friends, they'd be more like best frenemies.

Hmm, I understand cmarston pairing up Twilight and AJ as BFFs, but why do you feel that Pinkie and Fluttershy would be best friends, Fire?

 

I haven't really seen many interactions between them to consider them as such, so I'm interested in your perspective.

They're my favorites, and not only that, they actually did have some interactions from time to time like their biggest one in Buckball Season.

I'd say Rainbow Dash and Pinkie. They both are total class clowns, enjoy pranking and joking, they both get bored really easily, they both enjoy having fun and sharing good laughs, and they're both very energetic and outgoing. Also they always seem to get along well.

Definitely Fluttershy and Rainbow Dash, since they've been friends since Flight School and it's possible that Dash eventually moved to Ponyville because of Fluttershy.

Then there's Applejack and Rarity. Yes, the two are opposites in many ways and have been known to bicker and argue, but like Shy and Dash they've known each other since they were fillies since they both grew up in Ponyville and likely attended school together. Plus, the fact that their sisters are best friends has only helped to deepen their friendship.

Pinkie and Rainbow - Cause they're totally like my BFF and I irl. :P They're the goofy, joking around type, I also think they're cute together. 

Applejack and Rarity - They seem to get along quite well with each other, and they've had great episodes as well, like 'Made in Manehattan', and 'Simple Ways'.

Well, I think you can pair them with different personnality traits:

1) Twilight & RD: both are fan of Daring Do ; AJ and Fluttershy: both have a connection nature ; Pink pony and Rarity: both are very good party decorators + tendancies to overreact.

2) Twilight & AJ: both can be rational and down to earth, give good advices ; Fluttershy and Rarity: both know about fashion, are good singers, can be very calm ; Pink Pony with Rainbow Pony: Both are jokesters

3) Twilight & Fluttershy: both can be calm and sensitive ; RD & AJ: both have rugged personnality and enjoy playing games ; Pink Pony and Rarity again.

Twilight and Starlight.

That hug at the end of Shadow Play gave me such feels, they’ve kinda become like sisters to each other.

Then on the other hand, Starlight and Trixie are so comfortable around each other, they don’t even let they’re constant teasing get to each other.

How do I choose?

Spike and Twilight - They have known each other for a long time and they both genuinely care for each other. Recent example would be the intro scene of Once Upon a Zeppelin.

Rainbow Dash and Applejack - They have a pretty cool rivalry  and complement each other quite well.

Fluttershy and Rarity - They are the most gentle of the mane 6 and thus i think they make pretty good friends.

Pinkie and basically anyone - Yeah she goes along everybody equally i believe.

Starlight and Sunburst - They both like magic and they know each other since they were young.

Twilight Sparkle - Spike: Her longest friendship, they have a 'big sister'-'little brother' dynamic.

Applejack - Rarity: They have found common ground with each other and seem to favor their judgement because of their differences (they give each other valuable points of view). Their sisters' friendship gave them an environment to be a team on their sister-bonding activities (being the most mature ones of their sisters group).

Rainbow Dash - Fluttershy: Childhood friends and fellow pegasi, sometimes they show 'big sister'-'little sister' dynamics.

Rainbow Dash - Pinkie Pie: Closer to each other since Griffon the Brush Off, they seem to enjoy themselves around each other (being the most immature ones of the group). As brash as she is, RD seems to take consideration to Pinkie's sensibility. Pinkie seems to go more over the top than the usual when celebrating RD's achievements.
