Cain sighed, before gathering enough courage to finally speak. "Your majesties, I think that what many of us are trying to say, is that we've heard a variety of rumors. Ranging from Princess Luna taking over" Cain turned towards the sick sun goddess "Your duty of raising the sun, that this so called disease may not be all natural, and that the Elements of Harmony tried, and failed, to cure it."

Cain brought his two hooves together on the table and rested his head on them. "But as I said, your majesties, they are only rumors, but I think I speak for a lot of us here, when I say" He looked directly into each princess's eyes. "That we should hear the truth, from your muzzles."

GM: The GM is going to assume everyone introduced themselves so we can get this thing moving. And for anyone who hasn't done the dice roll thing, don't worry about it.

"The rumors that the sun has been rising and setting on its own are false." Princess Celestia said, her voice tinged with the the tiredness she felt. "Princess Luna has been doing so in my stead."

"As for the Elements of Harmony having been used...yes, we have tried them, which is part of the reason why we do believe this disease is artificial. I also have other sources that are leading me to believe such, which is part of the reason why I called for anypony willing to try and help my dear sister." Princess Luna added in.

"You see, we had thought that there might be others besides ponies who may know of something like this. We sent letters to some of the neighboring kingdoms, and at first we weren't having any luck. But as it turns out, in the nearby Kingdom of Cervidae, there is a mage who deals in strange magical diseases and curses, and the ruler of that land says that its possible he may know of something about this affliction." Celestia chimed in, a small yawn escaping her as she finished speaking, taking a moment to get more comfortable as her sister took up where she left off.

"What we want you all to do is to go to the town of Rangifer to the northeast of Canterlot and Manehatten. There you will find Akecheta, the mage that we have learned about. If possible, we want you to bring him back here to Canterlot so that he examine my sister and determine if there is anything he can do. If not, you are to at least see if you can learn anything that may be of use, and possibly point us in a different direction in our search for answers."

Luna fell silent, obviously expecting questions from someone in the room.

"Why do you need us? Can't you simply send some royal guards or some other government personnel to speak with this individual?"

"Im guessing it's more dangerous then it sounds. Plus I imagine they would need all the guards they can get. Whoever or whatever infected Celestia might do the same to Luna. But that's just my guess." Flare says.

Chillax looked around the room nervously before asking a few housekeeping questions, "Princess, how will we know we found him? is he well known enough that we can just ask for him? can you tell us what he looks like?"

"The letter we received from the King of the Cervidae Kingdom came with a picture as well as a general description of both himself and his whereabouts." Celestia replied, motioning to one of her guards who set a rolled up scroll on the table.

"Why do you need us? Can't you simply send some royal guards or some other government personnel to speak with this individual?"

"We tried to send some guards and one of our agents to try and find them,...they were supposed to keep in contact each day. We haven't heard from them in...five days today. We fear the worst."

"And I believe that sending more royal guards or our officials will only result in the same. But both Celestia and I agree that a group of ponies and non-ponies, simply traveling along the lands, may not fall to the same fate. And as Flare said..."

"Im guessing it's more dangerous then it sounds. Plus I imagine they would need all the guards they can get. Whoever or whatever infected Celestia might do the same to Luna. But that's just my guess." Flare says.

"...we will need to keep as many of our guards here to keep order and protect the city and the country."

"Well if that's it I suppose we should be going. You ready Solaris?" He asked the phoenix who nodded back now finished with his food.

"I suppose that makes sense. What sort of terrain should we expect on the way?"

Luna glances outside, and notices that the sun is beginning to descend towards the horizon. She turns back to the group and says "It is a bit late to be heading out on this quest at this time, perhaps it would be best if you all spend the night here in the palace. You will be able to prepare as needed for the journey, whether it be gathering any additional supplies you may need, which we will provide, or if some of you wish to try and learn more about where your heading, or even attempt to assist Mrs. Sparkle in her continuing research of ancient pony magic to see if there is something we have missed."

"If there are no more questions for either of us at this time, we will adjourn this meeting, for I need to escort my sister back to her room." She turned and gently nudged Celestia, who seemed to have been close to dozing off.

"I will return to my apartment to retrieve some important items and set other things in order first. I should be back shortly."

Blackwater rushed out of the castle and hurried back home. As soon as he arrived, he got to work preparing for the quest. He took off his uniform and outfitted himself with his normal exploration attire; a loose fitting, dark gray button-up shirt with two pockets, a military grade utility belt, and a lightweight, black faux leather jacket. After slipping on his saddlebags, he unlocked and opened the massive chest that took up a sizable chunk of the west corner of his living room. The inside was full of assorted trinkets and substances all neatly organized in separate compartments. Blackwater rummaged through it, occasionally tossing a pouch of some magical material in to his bag, all the while mumbling under his breath.

"Hmm... knockout powder may be useful. Poison darts and the blowgun are of course a necessity. Fire salts could be useful for distractions, and Light of Celestia is always a good herb to have, because zombies can be anywhere..." he incoherently muttered to himself. "Not too many things though. Don't want to carry too much weight."

He tossed only a few more pouches in to his bag. He then stopped and stroked his goatee, deep in thought.

"That seems to be good enough. Now for the jewelry."

Blackwater trotted over to his desk. He opened the bottom right drawer to reveal numerous ancient looking necklaces; once again, all ordered very precisely per his usual tendencies. He reached in and selected two from the bunch, one a small, undetailed bronze square with a tiny sapphire embedded in it attached to a thin, corroded chain. The other was a much larger gold amulet in the shape of an ancient demon's head. It was exquisitely detailed, with every line and curve of the demon's face rendered with incredible precision, from it's sharp and pointed jaw, to the furrows of it's brow. The demon depicted was a nameless deity from another world, with two massive horns curving upwards from the side of it's head. The face was thoroughly alien; not at all the shape of any creature from Equestria or any other kingdom. It wore an expression of utter emptiness, as if it was the personification of the void itself. The twin rubies that were used for the eyes did not shimmer and glisten as they should have, but were instead cold and dead, hardly any different from normal stones. Blackwater clasped them both around his neck and tucked them underneath his shirt. These two artifacts had been quite useful to him in the past, both possessing protective properties for those who wore them; the bronze one offering poison resistance, and the gold one offering heightened magic resistance.

Blackwater closed the drawer and opened the one directly above it. From this one he selected two compasses, a new journal, a quill with a small phial of ink, a set of lockpicks, a small dagger, a magnifying glass, and a map of Equestria, and a map of Cervidae. He closed that drawer and went in to his bedroom. He reached under is bed and retrieved a bag of essential camping items in anticipation of sleeping in the wild. He also took a small bag of money and a few other items not worth mentioning. Blackwater strode back in to his living room and reviewed everything in his head.

"That is everything. I am quite prepared. Time to return to the castle."

He smiled to himself as he took his hat, a faded black fedora with a wide brim and burgundy band, from his desk. He placed it on his head, two holes in the top allowing his horns to slide through. He turned and exited his apartment, locking the door behind him. He made his way out of the apartment building, on to the still bustling streets of Canterlot, and back to the castle.

"Now, to talk to this Twilight Sparkle about the specifics."

"Uh, Princess, if I may?" Cain tried to speak up over the conflicting voices, "Where exactly will we be staying here in the castle?"

"You may all stay in the Guest Dormitories, which are located in the East Wing of the palace."

GM: Everyone else now has an oppurtunity to post and ask any questions/etc before I send Luna and Celestia off. You have till tomorrow morning to make said posts, otherwise I'm going to assume your character had no questions.

Cain spoke up again, "Just one more question from me, Princess. Will we be given some sort of funds to aid us on our journey, and to buy supplies? And what exactly will we receive if we complete the task successfully?"

Jumping Bean had remained mostly silent during the discussion. On the train to Equestria, he had heard some rumors himself from some of the other ponies, likely a few that were assembled in this very room. Jumping Bean wasn't the gossiping type, so he had kept quiet about what he had heard, and in fact, hadn't believed the rumors at all, and payed them very little mind. That is, until he had heard the very same rumors voiced by the other ponies, and discussed by the Princesses themselves.

He began to feel nervous. What had he gotten himself into this time? Whatever it was, he had come too far to back out now. He smiled at the other ponies around him, unaware at how unsuccessful he was at hiding his nervousness.

"If you need any additional supplies, you may speak with Sir Quarters. He runs the castles storage rooms, where anything you are likely to need on this journey will be. As for funds, we can provide you with some of those as well, though I do not believe you will be needing much." Luna replied, then looked thoughtful as she added "It has just occurred to me that we can even shorten your journey. Going by hoof would take at least a week, but I believe there is a train that runs from here to New Maresterdam, which will shorten it to three days."

(Attempting to inject some life into this)

Cain wasn't too familiar with the entirety of Equestria, outside of Ponyville, Cloudsdale and Canterlot.

"Well I'm sure my wings would appreciate the rest, Princess." He smiled, attempting to make the atmosphere in the room a bit lighter.
