Is Spike becoming a background character?

i actually have always seen him as a background character.
or atleast on the border to backgroundedness.
sure he may have had some major roles to play, but still, so has many others that have much less screentime (Celestia, Luna, Cadance, Starlight, Trixie, Discord).

I choose 1. Spike could have plenty of Guardians of Harmony toys, and God hates Rarity more!

In my opinion I actually think spike is getting noticed a little bit more than before, or maybe I am just crazy and he really was getting notice in the show more than now.

It's because he works best as as supporting/background character. He sucks when he gets any focus.

This season so far, Spike spoke more words and got more appearance time than he did in ALL of Season 7, mostly thanks to Molt Down.

He better slow down until his next Season 8 episode and give the Mane Six a chance.

The cast is getting very crowded, but she show still makes time for episodes starring him. In fact, he was the only main character to receive focus in “The Break Up Break Down,” and of course “Molt Down” was all about him.

Season 7 was pretty slow for him, but both seasons 8 and 9 look like he's gonna have at least a decent amount of episodes!

But until his next episode, like I said, he's definitely gonna need to slow down on appearance time until then, compared to how much the others (except Twilight) got so far.

Spike is most certainly not a background character! Think of all the important things he’s done. He saved the Crystal Empire!
