Chalice merely narrowed his eyes and snorted at Elias' response. "Aren't you a cocky fellow. A law breaker. A murderer. Ah, yes, and a demon summoner. Several thousand may have perished tonight, quite possibly because you enjoy playing with demons. Your arrogance is your downfall." He concluded.

"The only reason you are not currently headless is because I respect the wishes and judgement of the divine princesses. Prey tell, do you answer to any authority, or do you just assume you know what's best for the world?"

"I had nothing to do with that business in the square." Elias said curtly and turned to face Chalice, "I do what it takes to save as many lives as I can. Gets kinda hard to follow the law when working in those boundaries means letting something start an apocalypse."

Techno then turned to Chalice with a smile...

TU: Now I believe you came to see my works at my lab a few days before the outbreak! Plus I even remember that you were wanting to have a massive cape made for you to so I actually made a design for it but of course I never got to make it because of the outbreak. Though you would of been a lot more powerful if I ever got to make a massive cape for you!

"The town of Nowhere?... Pfft." Lory giggled "Well that's cliche..." She commented to no one in particular, poking fun at the town's name. She wasn't very fond of the idea of traveling to the Hayseed Swamp, but she did agree to assist the group in their searches. If that meant getting closer to finding any leads regarding the mysterious attacks and abductions happening in Canterlot, it would be satisfactory.

"Ah--TCHOO!!" The mare forced out a loud, obvious sneeze, covering her muzzle with her foreleg. Rubbing her nose with her eyes closed tight, she soon glanced over at the group.

"...Sorry, I'm allergic to bullcrap." She explained herself.

"There's no need for such a salute, brother!" The general practically shouted, though of course the term brother wasn't literal. "I don't care what you say your rank is... I know what your duties entail. That being said, I'll try not to break traditions too much myself."

He was joking of course. "And, perhaps I misspoke. I offer assistance and resources. We can't afford to function as independently as we have. Besides, we have a bit of a presence in Nowhere at the moment. By all rights, that's our town at the moment."

"We appreciate the assistance." Legion said, smiling at the General on the outside, but vemonently cringing at his behavior on the inside.

"So many regs violations." His brain screamed. "So many..."

"Bless you," Legion said stomping on the urge to laugh at her display. He had to be serious for now.

"But please keep baseless accusations to yourself until we have all the facts, Lory." He said.

The captain nodded to Chalice respectfully, before doing the same for Legion.

"At any rate, your team will be leaving once daylight arrives... in a few hours. I suggest you pack your things." He said, mostly looking to Starsnow, then to Elias.

Chalice chuckled at Techno's comment. "Don't worry professor, next time perhaps. Besides, I'd still have to dye it the right colors and have a tailor cut the cloth to the appropriate length. Sounded like more than a month long affair to me anyways. For the time being I'll just settle with old faithful here."

The general flicked his crimson cape thoughtfully and with a bit of pride, before looking back over to Legion. "You sure you lot aren't going to send an investigator of your own on this? Seems important to leave in the hooves of a bunch of civilians..."

Ozzie was still hiding mostly out of view behind Elias. He wasn't really one for being in these sorts of situations, not at all a interested in big official social gatherings. Nervously he tapped on Elias' shoulder to get his attention.

"Hey..." Ozzie whispered. "Get that Legion fellow to come along... Do it so we don't have to deal with those Templar fellows..."

TU: Yeah it's just the cape I was going to make for you Calice was going to be basically a crimson red version of my cape and these capes actually have a large size for a reason. It's really because a part of the magical properties they have is the ability to move like an arm when you control it with your mind so you could literally pick up your enemies with your cape by the neck and crush their necks. Plus they are like indestructible shields to plus I believe someone is actually continuing my work with the capes as I've actually never made a cape like my one here. So I basically just found my cape in a cave while I found Luna's cape in the sister's secret battle supply closet. So maybe they made your cape and left it somewhere in equestria for you to find!

He headed through the portal, "you know I can move this place anywhere I want to. If I catch wind of any extra peeping eyes or whispers of a raid attempt you will find nothing here but an empty wine cellar!" Elias shouted as the gateway closed.

StarSnow had been quiet, standing at the back of the room. While she normally didn't talk much anyway,it was a little strange for her to not say anything at all. She turned and walked alongside the wall and slipped out the door. She glanced back at the throne room door, and then turned and walked through the hallway.

Didn't think I'd be back here....

Chalice chuckled at Techno's suggestion and turned to leave the throne room. "If I'm going to take down an opponent, it will either be quick, or it will be to throw them on the ground and hobble them. We don't just go around executing ponies, strangling or crushing their windpipes. I'll pass on the cape for now, but keep me posted!"

He left without much fanfare. Meanwhile, one of the Nightwatch operatives offered to lead Lorry to the barracks to shower down. Another bowed to Starsnow, catching her as she left. Want it or not, he insisted in taking her to one of the castle's guest room.

Everyone else went on to go about their business. The rest of the night much less... nerve wracking than the incident. Though, guards and officers were still running about making all manner of noise. Just about every street in the city had at least a squad of Lunar or Solar guards marching down them. Patrols in the air, even investigators and mages still examining the cordoned off square, late into the early morning sun.

--

The train was waiting for them at the station, trying desperately to unload their cargo. Most workers didn't show up for their shifts... the entire city, save for the marching guards, was a ghost town. There were still plenty of residence, but they were busier fortifying their homes and quietly packing up. The only reason the train platform wasn't swamped with ponies trying to escape, was likely because they were still too afraid to leave their homes after the previous night.

That being said, the group had plenty of time to make it to their train. The guards ushered those more tired than others, escorting everyone as needed.

A few normal passengers were boarding the train on the platform at the moment, those with the bravery to step out of their homes after last night that is.

Techno then followed everyone down to the train station...

It more closely resembled a quick nap than a good night of sleep, but at least Lory had managed to get some quick shut-eye before departing to Canterlot's train station in the morning. After a reinvigorating shower at the castle's quarters as well - albeit somewhat tired - she seemed ready to embark. Sitting down on the platform staring blankly at the train and its workers, she opened her mouth wide, releasing a lengthy yawn. Afterwards, small droplets of tears formed on her eyes, as she promptly wiped them off.

"To think we would be traveling to a more comfortable place from here... But noooooo, it's a shabby ol' swamp." The mare complained to herself.

===

"Pardon my intrusion."

Standing a safe distance away from the group on the station platform, called out a polite stallion. It was a large, bulky Pegasus: his coat painted grey and his mane and tail a light-tone of brown. He sported a somewhat fashionable-looking goatee, as well as a peculiarly odd tattoo stamped on his right hind leg. His overall posture emanated a gentle air of politeness and respect. He looked over at the group with his gold-colored eyes, courtly approaching them at a steady pace.

"You must be the expedition group General Storm Chalice spoke of. Am I correct?" He inquired, then bowing down. "Professor Helios Whitequill, at your disposal. I shall be of assistance to you from here on out during your stay at the Town of Nowhere." He introduced himself. "Pleased to make your acquaintance."

After a semi restful sleep Elias had packed a leather satchel with supplies for a long journey.

He boarded the train and sat next to an open window. Pulling a metal tin from his breast pocket he opened it and pulled out a short tightly rolled cylinder of paper. He stuck it in his mouth and produced a lighter.

IMG_6102.JPG.4decaaaf24168d765307415240fa82fe.JPG

Flicking it open and igniting it he lit the cigarette in his mouth and gave a long pull before closing the lighter while letting a plume of smoke blow from his maw. "Ahhh, it's been a while since I've had one of these." He said, leaning back in his seat.

StarSnow sat away from the others,at the back of the car. She glanced at Elias, and considered using her magic to put it out.But she ultimately decided not to.

Can't say I really blame him.And there are more important things to think about.

"Train's ETA is in 30 minutes. Let's ruck up and get ready to move out."

Ozzie was following Elias when the cat merely ignored the pegasus trying to great them. It seemed Elias was getting back into an old habbit, and needed his fix before he went crazy. Understandable considering the circumstances. The spirit himself was sporting two grey and brown saddlebags, nothing fancy. Just a few odds and ends.

"My apologies," Ozzie replied to Helios, watching Elias and Star walked begrudgingly into the train car. "My friend Elias isn't exactly a morning pony."

He waited for Legion and to introduce himself before doing the same. "Ozmodious, learned historian and local information broker." He left out the part about being a spirit of knowledge trapped in a physical form.

Meanwhile...

On the train, Star, Techno, and Elias were practically the only ones sitting in the coach class car. Forward of their car were a few of the first class cars, while behind them several more coaches and a dining car, followed by cargo cars.

From where they sat, they could see the wide open countryside of Equestria, far below the cliff side. The train hung on a precarious spot on the side of the mountain, nothing but a sheer drop mere heads away from the wheels.

While it was morning, the sun shining high above, most of the land was obscured in a thin mist. It would be a relaxing sight, if the mist didn't accompany the disturbing goings on as of late. In some places, the mist was a thick as the night was dark, making for an equally dangerous time of traveling during the day as during the night.

One of the attendants was walking through the cars, checking on the passengers and ensuring everyone had their appropriate tickets.

Lory eyed the newly-arrived Pegasus stallion for a few seconds, scanning his shape from top to bottom. She had her brows furrowed in an annoyed expression - as of custom -, still half-asleep.

"As if we needed more Royal Guard freaks foalsitting us..." With a dismissive click of the tongue, she complained under her breath. Turning her head, ultimately she decided to follow suit to the rest of the group and ignore the Solar Guard's presence, promptly boarding the train.

Inside, she took an empty seat next to a window in the coach class, staying a considerable distance away from the rest, staring out into the distance with her hoof on her chin, holding her head up.

"I have established a minor base of operations in the Town of Nowhere, from where I have been closely studying the runes and the uncanny occurrences possibly related to them." The professor lowered his head a bit, becoming somewhat mournful.

"The Town could use all the help it can get... It would be a pleasure to accompany you." He confidently stated, walking his way towards the train. "Shall we embark?"

"The Town could use all the help it can get... It would be a pleasure to accompany you." He confidently stated, walking his way towards the train. "Shall we embark?"

Legion nodded in agreement, stepping onto the train. He chose a seat with a clear view of the entrances and exits, his training unconsciously kicking in. Sinking into the row across from Lory, he adjusted his shades before relaxing.

"It's gonna be a long trip." He muttred.

A few more passengers boarded after everyone else from the group took their seats. It was mostly the rich, those who could afford the suddenly expensive tickets on a short notice, trying to leave Canterlot as quickly as possible. Most of those took up in the first class cars. Even so, a few managed to snag tickets to let them stay in second class with the group.

Twelve passengers joined the group in their car. They mostly spread out, keeping their distance from everyone. Yet, one pair decided to make it a point to take the seat directly behind Legion. Sheep, oddly enough. Both with fluffy curly coats, black underfur and skin, and dark green and gold satchels at their sides.

The train began clanking along the tracks, chugging forward and ultimately along its descent around the mountain. The conductor wasted no time pushing the train to its fullest, taking turns at dangerous speeds. A few times, it felt like the train itself was about to tip over.

"Oh darling, don't be so coy!" A familiar voice giggled.

A grey doe with sparkling blue eyes and ruby red antlers stepped out of the dining car behind the group's. She was walking back to first class with one of the chefs, who was clearly smitten with her.

"Well my darling, it's not every day I have the privilege of encountering such a sweet thing like you!" The chef responded.

The doe giggled again as she passed Star Snow and Techno, then Elias, Lorry and Legion. She didn't spare any of them so much as a glance, as if they had never even met. Well, not that she had met Legion or Helios. Still, it was quite the brazen display.
