"Craig McCracken and Lauren Faust" or "Ross Bagdasarian Jr. and Janice Karman"?

Craig McCracken and Lauren Faust created shows like "The Powerpuff Girls" and "Foster's Home For Imaginary Friends" and "My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic" and "Wander Over Yonder".

Ross Bagdasarian Jr. and Janice Karman created the 1980s "Alvin and the Chipmunks" cartoon and worked on the theatrical Alvin and the Chipmunks movie titled "The Chipmunk Adventure movie" and worked on the direct to video Alvin and the Chipmunks movies titled "Alvin and the Chipmunks Meet Frankenstein" and "Alvin and the Chipmunks Meet the Wolfman" and worked on the live action Alvin and the Chipmunk movies and created the current Alvin and the Chipmunks cartoon titled "Alvinnn!!! And the Chipmunks" that is airing on Nickelodeon right now.

In my honest opinion, I think Craig McCracken and Lauren Faust are miles way better than Ross Bagdasarian Jr. and Janice Karman are, since they created a lot of different cartoons. The Alvin and the Chipmunks franchise is pretty much the only thing that Ross Bagdasarian Jr. and Janice Karman really have going for them.

Craig and Lauren are without a doubt THE BEST cartoon creation couple. They have given many children good childhoods (including mine) when it came to quality entertainment! They also care a lot about their audiences!

Their cartoons were also a part of my childhood too. I hope they make a big impact on cartoons like how Walt Disney did.

McCracken and Faust are the obvious choice here. Craig created all his series from scratch, though Lauren had a significant role especially in Foster's. And while MLP is based on an existing property, Lauren gave the characters their personalities or refined them, created the visual style of the show and brought a lot of the original staff on board.

As for Bagdasarian and Karman, I'm not sure about their exact involvement as I'm not that familiar with Alvin and the Chipmunks. But if I'm not mistaken, most of the groundwork was laid by Bagdasarian Sr. years earlier. He not only created the characters but was also responsible for the first cartoon featuring them.

I very much agree with the OP. McCracken and Faust are my favorite duo. They have built up an impressive resume together with a diverse series of cartoons that achieved great critical acclaim, while Bagdasarian and Karman focused more on one single franchise, rebooting it several times. Not that the latter couple has done a poor job, because I think in many ways their characters and franchise are timeless and still have a fair amount of potential to continue into the future. But they haven't really branched out much and tried something different.

By the way, I think it's very possible that Rebecca Sugar + Ian Jones-Quartey could be the next big cartoon creator couple, especially if Jones-Quartey's show OK K.O.! ends up doing well. They've been working together for years, formerly on Adventure Time and more recently on Steven Universe.

Let's just face it, none of the Alvin and the Chipmunks cartoons and movies were that good and thus none of them were critically acclaimed. The 1960s Alvin and the Chipmunks cartoon was bland and the 1980s one was average and the current CGI Alvin and the Chipmunks cartoon that is airing on Nickelodeon right now is bland. Also the only Alvin and the Chipmunks movie that I actually sort of liked was "The Chipmunk Adventure".

So I honestly think the Alvin and the Chipmunks franchise is going to die out at some point in the future.

And also yes, I think it would be possible that Rebecca Sugar + Ian Jones-Quartey will be the next big cartoon creator couple since they are in a relationship together and both of them made some very successful cartoons.
