Being pronouncable isn't a requirement though. I mean look at "Compiler Language With No Pronouncable Acronym" ?

Not according to the definition I got (I did check). "An abbreviation formed from the initial letters of other words and pronounced as a word (e.g. ASCII, NASA )."

But I guess it can be whatever you want it to be, language is changing all the time. :D

It isn't unusual to add vowels, often taken from the words being capitalized - so a mass transport system could be pronounced "mats" ( but mits or mutts wouldn't be terrible, either)
JPG is often "JayPeg" though, oddly enough.
