Health of Information: Fluttershy's true destiny?

Sooo am I the only one who feels like this is what Fluttershy is meant to do? Take up the mask of Mage Meadowbrook and continue where she left off. I mean, she's always nursing animals back to health and she was really pushing herself to save Zecora. (Albeit because she felt guilty for being partly responsible for Zecora's illness in the first place.) Still, Fluttershy's main attribute is her compassion and willingness to ease pain. So wouldn't it make more sense if she felt a kind of kindred spirit in Meadowbrook and decided to become her successor?

You mean Fluttershy as a vet or nurse? Would be fun to see that happen.

Not really, it sounds a bit odd for her to be removed from the show like that. Also, would she really live in an abandoned town, with only one resident? And would she really leave her friends and animals back home?  Doesn't sound like Fluttershy much...

I do not want to see Fluttershy appear less on the show in further seasons only because of this. Without her, the show just wouldn't be the same anymore, now, would it?

Well I didn't say THAT. More like how Rainbow Dash has become a Wonderbolt but she still lives in Ponywille. Fluttershy could be the same.

But what does Meadowbrook's mask makes any difference between worn or not. Her being a healer seems like a great idea tho.

Well Fluttershy has been one of the main characters who haven't really had any major ongoing goals throughout the series, so giving her one like this would be pretty interesting.

Which in turn would give the writers more material for developing Fluttershy as a character, which I am all for.

I support this idea.

Well, granted it might just be because this detail pushes my buttons, but Twilight mentions how healers a long time ago would wear masks so they wouldn't get sick themselves. Much like old Plague Doctors in our world. So hearing that there was a kind of order of these ponies that Fluttershy could sort of inherent the role of in the present just makes me excited because that's the kind of shit I LOVE in fantasy.

I know right? They kind of crowbarred it in for Leans In. In her defense, Fluttershy wasn't the kind of person to make a big deal of or openly voice any long term aspirations until recently. So giving her a Rarity or Dash-like goal to strive for would almost be out of character. That being said, now that she HAS come into her own, this could be a chance to expand her horizons. Plus, you're absolutely right in that it would give the writers more to work with.

Given that Meadowbrook is now back on the scene, and not looking particularly old after her stint in limbo, I can't imagine that she would be needing a successor at any point in the near future.  If such a thing was to happen it would be somewhere way down the line.

It's indeed a good goal for her, but given her talent is her mutual understanding with wild animals, I would love if she starts working together with Zecora, Dr. Fauna and the Pony Doctor, Dr. Fauna and the Pony Doctor would provide Zecora and Fluttershy with unusual illnesses, Zecora could work on a potion/cure and Fluttershy would be able to help locate ingredients with the help of animals (they could be a a great source of information on the behaviour of some wild plants and other animals) and take care of the ill animal/pony. One could also add Applebloom on the mix as Zecora's assistant.
