Worst physical injury in your life

I am a pretty big airsoft enthusiast, so once at the weekend tournaments I rushed to a loading dock that is used as a respawn area in the siege game mode. I was too eager and didn't watch my step, which resulted to me stepping on an iron spike of sorts. My combat boots saved the leg from serious injury but I still twisted my ankle, fell down from full speed, slid across the dock and over the edge as it was wet and slippery thanks to Finnish Autumn, fell down about 2 meters (around 6,5 feet) and crashed onto the concrete below.

Might not be that bad but it hurt like damn.

Oh, and here's an image of yours truly the morning before that fateful day, sitting behind the table all geared up for some reason.

i think this topic has happened already, but eh. Never broken a bone or had surgery. but ive had 2 horrible injuries.

1. Cat bite to my right hand/wrist. When I was about 7. Damn big ginger cat attacked me and sunk its teeth into my hand. During recovery, it got infected. I just remember the puncture wounds oozing puss and bodily liquids x,x I have 2 toothmark scars on my hand from it.

2. Rope burns to the back of both my legs in the knee tendons. x.x Again when I was about 8/9 - our dog was in the garden on a rather long rope (first mistake using rope) he tangled me up in it then bolted after our cat x.x Most painful thing to ever happen to me. argh. My legs recovered, no scarring.

Went shooting a few years ago at a range that had metal targets. One of the bullets hit it at just the right angle where it bounced back and hit me in the arm. Kind of like this, but slightly less lucky. Superficial wound, but it hurt like a bitch.

My most spectacular failure was complying with all gun safety rules and still managing to fucking shoot myself.

I broke my ankle and walked with it without noticing it was broken. It hurted a lot, but I thought I was just being childish. Now it still is broken.

There is the time I got attacked by a German Shepard when I was 10... my arm was bleeding badly, but I was in too much shock to even feel it. To this day I have a scar on my left arm where the dog bit me.

But most painful goes to the time I cut my pinkie finger open when I was 11. We had gotten a toy stuck in a tree, so I grabbed a few branches and began shaking. I didn't realize I had placed my pinkie on a very sharp thorn so when I began shaking the tree I sliced it open. I was bleeding badly and felt the pain all the way... no amount of adrenaline was enough to numb it. I got patched up my by step mother, and to this day I have a white line going down my left pinkie finger. Though since I've grown it doesn't cover my whole finger anymore.

When I was really young, while we were on a vacation, my parents dropped me off at a daycare there and apparently I wasn't being too closely monitored because I climbed up some stairs and fell several feet on my head. I almost died (why didn't I just?) and had to be taken out in a life flight helicopter.

I was playing basketball, and some dude drove to the hoop and it knocked me over. I landed on my wrist (NEVER do that!) and broke it for about 6 weeks.

I also had to get surgery when I was younger because I had appendicitis. Thankfully it didn't rupture or anything!

still have the surgery scars though...

Mine was when I was still in kindergarten when me and my brother used to still take baths together. And of course like any "smart" child would do we were climbing around in the bathtub and I slipped and banged my head against the bathtub. I had a open wound and it had to get stitched. I now have a weird looking scar on my eyebrow that goes horizontal from one end to the other . Plus I permanently look like I have one eyebrow raised. So thats fun.

Almost two years ago now, I was in a bad car accident. I was concussed, bruised and battered, with a couple broken ribs thrown in to boot. That's not all. I spent three days on a ventilator. To this day, I don't remember the accident, or those three days with a tube down my throat. I've had health problems on and off since. The worst seems to be over now. I'm pretty much back to, well, what passes for normal for me.

Visually the grossest was probably when I hit my head on a bed rail. Didn't even realize I'd hurt myself until I got up a couple minutes later and realized I was covered in blood.

My worst one happened many years ago, a fracture on my left arm during an equestrian summer camp.

There was a competitive game where we were riding in pairs facing one another; one partner sat on the horse's shoulder area. I was with a ginger boy who sat normally on the saddle while I was backwards, so I really had to keep a firm grasp on him.

We arrived at a tight turn where I decided to lean inwards to counter the centrifugal force, but couldn't right myself back up and kept shifting to that side and eventually I slid off. When I fell, it didn't do much damage because the floor was covered in fine sand for this very purpose, and momentum rolled me onto my left side but that was all. That is, until the other boy fell right on top of me, making the arm beneath me explode into raw pain.

Fortunately it was what they called a "green wood fracture" in French, meaning it didn't go all the way across the bone. Meaning it didn't require resetting, and I only had to wear an arm sling (no cast).

There's also the time when my left foot got run over by a car, but that only caused a massive bruise that kept me from PE for a week. And that other summer camp accident where our camp hit a pole, which only caused minor friction burn from the seatbelt, since it was in a parking lot. and we were going quite slow

Just a broken leg; not a huge deal. However, it did happen under kind of unfortunate circumstances (a bounce house at my third birthday party). :P

Hm. Well accidental wise my worst injury was probably when someone pushed me while we were at a roller rink for our 1st grade field trip. Fell down, arm went behind me and I smashed it with my butt on the way down. Hurt so damn bad, almost vomited everywhere. Teacher sent me to the nurse like 3 times cause the nurse kept sending me back. Turns out it was broken, nurse never called my mom to tell her what happened. It was a huge commotion between my mom and her.

as for an injury I had to have on purpose, definitely my double jaw surgery. It was for correcting my terrible bite, wisdom teeth were done at the same time too. Literally the worst pain imaginable. My feeling came back in about a week, surgeon was shocked since he never had someone regain feeling so soon. It was good progress wise, but hurt so bad since I could feel everything. About 98 percent of my feeling is back, only left with a small numb spot on my chin. Only slightly numb though like when you get a shot at the dentists and it starts kicking in.

@iceestarz I doubt corrective surgery counts as injury though... if there are complications, sure, but not by itself.

Otherwise I would've mentioned a couple ones I had; the eye surgery which put me through one day of agony when the numbing drops wore off, and

Spoiler

another down there as a child (wasn't even corrective...) which has been making me suffer ever since.

Sort of, I mean they break your jaw and cut through bone. Technically you are injured from the surgery, facial swelling, nerves are cut through. Overall a very painful experience. It was corrective but my jaws had to go through an excruciating amount of pain to be corrected.

I still have jaw pain even after the surgery. I had tmj issues and though they are less severe it still clicks and hurts when I’m stressed. I also can’t laugh while I’m eating or drinking because my jaws get pinched and it hurts extremely bad.

Although my bite did get corrected, physically my jaw still hurts every now and again.

Eeesh. I'm actually right about due to get my wisdom teeth taken out. Would you say that most of the pain that you felt was from your corrective surgery or your wisdom teeth surgery? I'm actually really freaked out about it haha. Any pointers that you got for me?
