general Have you ever met someone famous?

I met Elvis Costello on chance at an art museum once. He was just there to look at paintings, so we just said "Hi" and moved on.

I met Super Bowl MVP Santonio Holmes when he was freshman at Ohio State. Got his autograph, too.

Also got to meet Baseball Hall of Famer Bob Feller when I was a little kid. He was a really cool guy.

I've had some fairly notable YouTubers reply to my comments. Back when I still watched Stampylonghead (I used to be a huge fan before growing out of Minecraft in general), we had multiple friendly exchanges in the comments. Very nice guy.

I guess I should elaborate that I have seen a bunch more famous people without actually meeting them. Off the top of my head, I've seen (but not interacted with) Lance Armstrong, lots of athletes at pro sporting events, members of a few other bands (including U2 as well!), and..... Donald Trump.

Me too! I talked to Stampy once in the comments!

That's awesome! Yeah I came close to Bonno at the Joshua Tree tour earlier this year. They still got it, and their in their 60's!

Not me, but my father personally knew a Turkish comedian whose name evades me.

My father briefly went to high school with a famous singer named Eddie Vedder. His list of famous people he has met is even longer than mine...

Yes, I have met Sheriff Joe Arpaio. Back when he was the Sheriff of Maricopa County he visited the restaurant I work at with some of his deputies. I don't care what media says about him he was a great sheriff, and I hope he's enjoying his retirement.

I was working at a casino at the time, so I'm not sure if "met" is the right word, but I will always think about how cool it was to talk about Lenny Kravitz' new (at the time) version of the song American Woman with Burton Cummings, who sang the original with the Guess Who.

When I was in High School I had a great time talking to a TV explorer once I cannot recall his name sadly, would love to see what he is up to. He was a nice guy and since we were both historians and legend lovers, we began discussing about his last trip, which was to Ethiopia to determine if the Ark of Covenant was there. It was an enjoyable chat overall we both had it agreement it was a "you never might know, what behind those doors kind of thing."

I met Weird Al Yankovic at a convention for his final autograph signing of the day. I've met a few other voice actors and movie actors at other conventions like Sylvestor Mccoy who I got to sign a VHS tape of Survival which is his last Doctor Who episode.

I recently got to meet Shelby Rabara, Michaela Dietz and Zach Callison the voices of Peridot, Amethyst, and Steven Himself from Steven Universe who were all really nice people to talk to.

I got to meet Jess Harnell the voice of Wakko Warner, who I am a huge fan of thanks to his performance as Captain Hero on Drawn Together. He was really cool, and told me about his band Rock Sugar.

I met Courtney Taylor the voice of Jack from Mass Effect and got a Giant Red Poster with some NSFW text on it.

I met Vic Mignogna at an anime convention last year, and I have to say he's one of the nicest people you'll ever meet. He took time to answer a few personal questions, take pictures, and even do some of his voice acting for us as Edward Elric from Full Metal Alchemist, Junpei from Persona 3, and I think Zero from Vampire Knight.

I had met one of the stars of The Real Housewives of my city (sorry guys, don't want to let out that kind of information). Nobody will believe this, but, during Christmas 2016, my family had even got to visit her house and have lunch there. It was definitely something, and I enjoyed their pool.

Kinda weird knowing someone from a "reality" TV show that I've never watched and don't plan on watching...

I haven't met any celebrities I know, but I have a very limited amount of famous names that I can name, so maybe I have but didn't know it. Actually, reading over these posts I realize I have way too many people that I don't know. But again, there are at least 4 people at my high school that doesn't know who Michael Jackson is.

I don't know many famous people myself, but I'm genuinely surprised that anyone wouldn't know who Michael Jackson is

The closest I've been to someone famous is Bill Gates; he was giving some presentation in the new computer science building at my college and I was up in an upper floor  .

I dunno if race car drivers count as celebrities  ...but if they do, then...

Mark Winterbottom - the main driver for Ford in the V8 Supercars. He's a REALLY popular race car driver here in Australia and I was lucky to meet him TWICE. He won the Bathurst 1000 in 2013 and won the championship in 2015. He also starred as 'Frosty' in the movie 'Cars 2' this was also THE first time I EVER got close to a V8 Supercar :wau:

Chaz Mostert - the team-mate to Mark Winterbottom and the 2014 Bathurst 1000 winner. I accidently bumped into him when I was at Sydney Motorsport Park and not only did I have a photo with him, he signed my Supercheap Auto Diecast

Scott McLaughlin - Easily MY favourite V8 Supercars driver. I got the chance to meet him at Sydney Motorsport Park and I had a photo with him alongside his team-mate, Fabian Coulthard and he gave me TWO personally signed posters for free!!!  he also set the fastest lap record around Mount Panorama

I included some American race car drivers in my list so at least for this thread's purposes... sure. They count. :squee:

Unfortunately, just like most Americans, I'm mostly unfamiliar with the V8 Supercross. Though I do know some of the names you mentioned, haha. :P And one of my old favorites here in American stock cars when I was a kid was former V8 Supercars champion Marcos Ambrose. First Australian to ever win a top-level NASCAR race.

The closest I've got is a likely obscure, likely average Republican house representative from my district, Blake Farenthold. He actually petitioned for my high school band to march at the DC Parade, surprisingly enough.

I've met a few musicians, mostly alternative and lots you'd never heard of.

Most noteworthy or chances being known, all of Black Veil brides, Billie Joe from green day at a after party, all of the days grace at a pret before their show, a member of the sex pistols who I didn't know that's who he was at the time and I was incredibly rude because I was tired, all of skid row let me and my dad in their bus a couple times and Liam Gallagher from oasis's son.

Other than that just footballers, all of Bristol City (UK)'s rugby team from two years ago and many sets of football' s Bristol City teams, my dad took me to see them and get shirts signed for him.
