spoiler Season 8 could be Spike's biggest season!

Yes, I know I already made a post last year called 'Season 6 could be Spike's biggest season', but I could be wrong! He could have a much bigger season, and this season might be it! Season 6 was a big season for him, but... he could go bigger! Like how season 6 was for Starlight! And I got a few reasons why I think that!

1. The debate on whether Stygian is the counterpart of Starlight or Spike is still continuing, but if Stygian turns out to be Spike's counterpart (like how it should be), we could be seeing a relatable character dynamic that Spike so desperately needs! I mean Starlight already has Trixie, Sunburst, and Maud to relate to, and I know she's currently the writers' pet project right now, but who needs the relatable friend the most right now?

2. Since Tirek is coming back, the odds of Scorpan making his debut are pretty high, so if the writers are gonna use Rescue from Midnight Castle from reference, we could see a friendship going on between him and Spike, and it would be a good fall-back plan if Stygian does end up just being Starlight's legend.

3. Spike barely did anything in season 7 despite all he did in season 6, so I say he's just buying his time for a big season! :3

4. The show could be ending soon, and I'm sure the writers want the Mane Six to be the heroes of the final season, so best to get Spike's season outta the way, and if there's 10 seasons, maybe there could be a princess hero season added in! :3

It's just big hopes right now. If Spike's big season isn't this season, hey, as long as it's not the final season, there's always hope for next season! One way or another, he'll get his biggest season! He's on the right track, but he still needs a ton more development before I'm satisfied for ending the show, because having just like one episode per season isn't gonna be enough to reach that in good time without rushing his arcs in the end.

We'll just have to wait until 2018 before anything at all shows up there.

But this season, I'd like to see Spike get more episodes than Applejack, Rainbow, and Rarity, unlike in Season 6, where those three mares (just them) each should only get 1-2 episodes each (since I'm done with them now).

Spike was pretty downplayed in season 7, meaning he doesn't do much which is pretty disappointing. Hopefully he will get some big moments again

I gotta admit, your luck with Spike for this season came true. Season 8 is indeed Spike's biggest season! And you already know why that is.

Unfortunately, this also means Season 9 will very unlikely be good to Spike.

I think we've reached peak Spike now. I don't really expect the show to go much further with him; at most, this season might keep pace with season 4 and 6 and end with a total of two solid episodes about his maturation.

Peak Spike? Not yet! We still need his origin story! 

Depending if episode 24 gives it to us or not

And his character description and Meghan McCarthy mentioned a destiny! We're not finished with him yet! But close. Best season for last!  And not just him! Any of the Mane 6 or any other character could get something big next season to finish off their story arcs!

Me neither. I'd rather see more Flutters & Pinkie than Spike anyways, no matter whether Season 9 still focuses on the school or not.

I think spike needs more screen time he does so much to help twilight and he deserves at least a couple more episodes. I would like to see his origins along with how twilight got him and his earlier years that would be cool.

He already did this season. Father Knows Beast will pretty likely cover that, but after that, he must slow down.

I hear there's something else coming later this season, and if that's what I think it is, I don't think Spike "needs" anything else after that, though I'm hardly opposed to more Spike episodes.

I mean outside of an episode where Spike finally gets over his crush on Rarity, similar to what Gravity Falls did with Dipper and Wendy, I agree that Spike doesn't really need anything else after Father Knows Beast.

"Inspiration Manifestation" in season 4 could easily have filled that role, but the writers chose not to continue in that direction, I guess.

In the end, it's all up to the writers! And by this time, I'm pretty sure every episode in season 9 has been written (or at least have plots), so, it's not like anything we say can change it now!  

You want your less Spike? Go ahead. I can stop watching the show at anytime! Maybe I just won't bother with season 9 then. After the season 8 finale, I can leave, and that's that!
