There still are some right-leaning fans even though most of the show's most vocal staff leans left. From what I've seen, it doesn't bother any conservative fans and it shouldn't ruin the experience for anyone.

If anything, I know that Nicole Oliver is not very fond of Nazis of any kind.  Can't blame her when she was made aware of images of Princess Celestia decked out in full Nazi Gear.

Yikes, that is not cool. I can't imagine how she must feel about other ways of predicting Celestia as a tyrant.

Judging by the people I've seen HERE a lot of them are not only right leaning but also surprisingly prejudiced. That's not indicative of the entire community but it's still incredibly frustrating being a part of this community.

Anyone can be prejudiced, doesn't matter if you lean left or right.

I'm not saying they're prejudiced because they're right wing, no need to get defensive.

Pray-tell what kind of prejudice leftists have though, because that notion is lost on me. I've never seen a prejudiced leftist save for TERFs.

Not my intention; I apologize. Thanks for backing it up.

Here's what I mean for both sides since I've seen it from both the left and the right. The left has been catering to identities for at least the past couple of years (sexism, racism and the like) to the point that it reared its ugly head in politics. They've been doing it so much, they're trying too hard not to make themselves seem racist and sexist. Although you are right about the right, they're not too much better in that regard either. Whenever they turn out to be correct, they are very upfront about it.

Well there certainly are many, but idk if I'd say "most." I'd wager many are centrists. There's a sizable amount of leftists like me too, but I feel like they often don't use the label "brony" (also like me).

Identity politics might come off as thinly veiled segregation but really more than anything it's an effort to get marginalized groups to stand their ground against prejudice. That's my defense of it anyway. My concern with the right-winged community here is that few are shy to write me off as mentally ill as if that's a negative or somehow has any bearing on my ability to function. I feel like there's a pretty strong anti-trans sentiment in the debate pit and it makes the entire forum's environment feel hostile to someone like me.

Believe me.  She once had to confront a fan who had an obsession with her character being a Tyrant, and it wasn't pretty.

IF anything, I once referred to her character as "Celestia Prime" as a nod to the Transformers, and she liked the nickname. XP

It wouldn't make sense if they were, seeing as MLP goes against many conservative values and beliefs.

You don't remember the episode where Big Mack dressed like a girl to enter the talent show with his little sister? He got beaten up by a bunch of ponies in Klan hoods yelling "Make equestria great again!".  I didn't like that one either. What about the one where they invade Yak-Yakistan based on bad information but then stay there for 14 years anyway, because it's better then admitting that they made a mistake. Also not one of my favorites.

I don't know what Conservatism means to you all that lives in the US, but in Sweden I certainly am what people would call a Conservative.

Now, one can always have opinions on the people that identify with the ideology, but from my understanding, being conservative means that you understand that a country needs to produce in order to sustain its economy. This production of wares that has value to other people will create a hierarchy with an uneven distribution from top to bottom, according to natural laws that has existed since life was only fishes in the ocean a million years ago. (This is what Karl Marx failed to see).

Now to the Cultural part as i understand it. If you understand that a producing country has a hierarchy you must also come to grips with the fact that it has a culture, meaning things that people within the production has in common. This is made more important due to the fact the human human being is a social animal. If you understand that a country has a culture you must also come to grips with that it has something called a "Majority culture", meaning a set of ideas that most people agree with.

Now, here comes the sensitive part. It is a common understanding within the liberal camp that conservatives are anti-minority and that they hate people that are different from the majority culture, the point there not being that certain conservative people are but that the ideology itself has the hatred built into its cores.

That assumption is a myth.

As a conservative you have every room within your soul to be compassionate. As a conservative i simply consider it my job to push back the Marxists who still believe that they can create a super culture that can fit every other culture inside it and dispose of the majority effect.

Should this ever come to pass, (Which it ironically never will since a Marxist doesn't understand the role culture has in a producing country), it would create a economical meltdown that has not been seen since the Soviet experiments. Everything we discussed, every valid message of compassion toward people that a different from you, all of it will be made undone as we cook our Heartswarming dinners over a burning trashcan, contemplating how tolerance turned to tyranny and how our civilized country, of which we foolishly took for granted, turned to 10000 BC among deteriorating malls and streets.

I think its roughly 50/50,

I myself am a nationalist (Scottish definition of nationalism is just wanting independence, NOT RACISM) who is very left leaning, but I do agree with the center - center right a fair amount more than SJWs, but most of my ideology is quite socialised

I'm a bit complicated. And I'm just going to be honest with all of you. I'm a conservative, so yes, I support Trump. Yes I'm a Christian. No I do not support LGBT. BUT that does NOT mean I can't get along with people who don't believe the same as me. I am in no way racist or sexist. I respect people's opinions, and I can be friends with you no matter what your gender or race, even though I choose not to support LGBT myself. And kinda off-topic here, I do not support kneeling against the American flag, as many NFL players are doing. I respect them wanting to protest, but during our national anthem? I believe it's wrong. But anyway, relating to the show and diversity, I'm ok with it, as long as it doesn't start getting over the top forced on us, which I'm pretty sure won't happen. The show has kinda always symbolized diversity in a subtle way. I guess what I'm trying to say is, while I tend to lean right, most if not all, of the time, I also kinda lean left with a couple topics. I agree that the majority of bronies and pegasisters are liberal though.

I don't want to hurt anybody's feelings, but I agree with you there.

So.... How's your views changed? :ButtercupLaugh:

Pssh, a LOT since that last post.

Yeah often times you find that the views you were surrounded by growing up are not always the views you align yourself with as you grow older and start more freethink etc.

I have never used the word conservative before. It feels like it is connected to politics and debates.

I think anyone on the Internet nowadays, not just Bronies, are acting the way described in the first post.

I am right wing libertarian anarchist myself and conservative if I had to choose the conservative/liberal spectrum which I don't particularly believe in. Given that I technically would have some values in both my friends. Personally being lgbt you'd expect me to be an ideology for no other reason then what it being lgbt thing to do.

While in my experience I would agree with @Sherbie-kun I'd say 50/50 bronies like furries don't have a particular political belief because of their fandom. Personally I don't believe in most if any actually social justice talk I do not judge people before getting to know them. Gender, race or whatever. My issue is not you caring about these things, it is when you use the state to enforce it when often I feel the results of that are "positive" prejudices but prejudices regardless.

I would say that there are a lot more conservative bronies then there were, which is a good thing saying we have to follow a certain political idea just because of a fandom is fascism at best and I refuse to follow some ideologies I disagree with simply as that's the fandom way.

To conclude, OP yes there are a lot of bronies conservative and yes there are a lot of bronies liberals many more who don't follow either ideology now that's true diversity my friends.

I've always thought the majority of bronies were left-wing. Probably not as many as the furry fandom (where the vast majority of people are liberals and a lot of them will crucify people who aren't, especially conservatives), but I'd still guess conservatives are a minority in this fandom.

I'm gonna say probably not. Just from my experience at a Brony convention last year, and knowing the political leanings of some bigger names within the community, I would say that most Bronies are probably liberals. Of course there are conservatives within the fandom, and even people who are further to the right than that *cough /mlp/ cough* but their definitely not the majority within the community.

I’d say most are left leaning, but not like ultra left like the furry fandom level.  (I’m a furry, nothing against furries just pointing it out)

I honestly never know where to place myself on the spectrum, I guess I could always take that test, but I never bother.

I just know I’m a liberal, but I don’t care for SJWs.  They’re obnoxious to me, but that doesn’t mean I’m a conservative.
