The final European event of the F1 calendar, hopefully it's better than the last race.

Also, none of my drivers did well at Vegas so hopefully their luck change this week.

Here's a Review of this weekend's Auto Racing events, along with some news from this weekend.

In NASCAR Xfinity series action on Friday Night, Christopher Bell picked up the win at the GoBowling 250 at Richmond Raceway. In a one off return to racing action, Dale Earnhardt Jr. Led 96 laps and ended up 4th. Regular season champion Justin Allgaier ended 32nd after a late race crash. The Xfinity series head down to Charlotte Motor Speedway Saturday for the first ever event on the "roval" course.

In Monster Energy NCS action, Kyle Busch picked up the win at Richmond, joining Brad Keselowski in the next round of the playoffs. Jimmie Johnson and Chase Elliott both had bounce back races after the problems that plagued them at Las Vegas. They too will head down to Charlotte for their "Roval" crashfest... I mean race.

In other news, silly season continued this week with the announcement of Ryan Newman heading to drive the #6 for Roush Fenway Racing in 2019. Matt Kenseth will remain with the team, but has no plans currently of racing full time.
http://www.espn.com/jayski/cup/2018/story/_/id/24761218/nascar-rocket-man-pilot-jack-roush-iconic-no-6-ford-2019
http://www.espn.com/jayski/cup/2018/story/_/id/24766924/kenseth-hopes-stay-involved-roush-no-plans-race-full

That's all for now. I'll post as I found out more information on the #31 ride, where Daniel Suarez will end up, and the schedule for next weekend's auto races. Have a good week everyone!

Great news! :yay: I've been hoping for Giovinazzi to get an F1 seat for a while already – he was great in GP2 and did pretty well as Wehrlein's replacement (in at least one of those two races). Of course, it remains to be seen how well he adapts to F1, but I'd say Räikkönen and Giovinazzi are a pretty impressive lineup for a midfield team.

I'm still waiting on the day where all 4 JRM cars are competitive, sick of the #5 team being irrelevant.

Makes sense considering this may want to appeal to Alfa Romeo due to both being Italian.

Michael Annett is not going anywhere. He's got backing from Pilot Flying J, and as long as he's got that (his father is the owner of Pilot Flying J), he won't be going anywhere, even despite having only 2 top 10 finishes this season. Money talks.

So, who's ready for the Charlotte Roval this weekend?  Personally, I'm worried it's going to turn into a mess.  That hard left turn off Pit road is going to cause major issues, but we'll see i guess....

Your thoughts?

Image result for charlotte roval

Also, Brad K #2 won three in a row!   Woot-Woot!

It's going to be a freakin' crashfest, if the testing sessions were any indication. I'm NOT inthused about this hacknied attempt at being "different". Put an ACTUAL road course on the schedule that doesn't use any oval track, like Road America, Mid-Ohio, or Circuit Gilles Villeneuve.

Haas F1 just announced that they would retain their driver lineup for next season which is great news as I do not have to change anything for next year. Whether Grosjean would remain as the lead driver remains to be seen.

Now we just gotta get that 4th place in the constructors.

Some Silly Season news from the World of Nascar

Two open seats in the Monster Energy NCS have been filled. Ryan Preece will be taking over the #47 ride for JTG Daughety racing next season, following the team's dismissal of AJ Allmindinger following this season.
http://www.espn.com/jayski/cup/2018/story/_/id/24822836/ryan-preece-joining-jtg-daugherty-racing

Also heading to the cup series for his rookie season is Daniel Hemric, as he has been named the driver of the #31 for RCR starting next year. He's also doing double duty this weekend at the Charlotte road course.

I can't wait to see Elliott Sadler's reaction over the Preece news.

So that's the Roval.  Not quite as bad as I thought it was going to be.  The pit road exit didn't seem to have the issues I was expecting.  But that Turn 1..... *sigh*.   At least there was an exciting finish!  (and Johnson get's knocked out of the chase, lol).  Overall, it was different, it was fun to watch.  Still think they could have done a more...creative layout, but it is what it is.

So both my drivers did well this weekend. Alex Bowman finishes 4th which along with other results puts him in the next round of the playoffs while Kevin Magnussen is in 7th in the standings which is the best of the midfield drivers. All is great.

And I've still got all three Team Penske drivers in the NASCAR Chase: Brad Keslowski is 4th in standings, Joey Logano 6th, and Ryan Blaney 8th.  not too shabby!

I did not know about this until now. NBC did not mention this or show any replays iirc. He and Truex are starting to become one of my disliked drivers.

Hamlin was just mad that he wasn't going to make it to the next round so he dumps a driver who has worse equipment than him. I'm glad he was eliminated. He doesn't deserve to have any chance at winning a championship.

NASCAR announced the rules package for the 2019 Monster Energy cup series season. It is similar to the package raced earlier this year at the All Star race, minus the restrictor plates. Speaking of which, the two Talladega races and the July Daytona race will see the cars without restrictor plates on the cars, something not seen since 1987. The Daytona 500 is the exception, with the race being held under current rules package and restrictor plates. More information is at the link below.

Well that was probably one of the least interesting races this season, Lewis won (when has he hasn’t) and Kevin finished last, at least Grosjean finished in 8th.

Well onto my favourite race on the calendar, the US Grand Prix.

NASCAR Updates from this weekend

Xfinity Series
Christopher Bell won the Xfinity series race at Dover Saturday, punching his ticket to the second round of the playoffs for the Xfinity series season. Justin Allgaier finished 3rd, thus locking him into the next round. The magical underdog story of Ross Chastain being in the playoffs came to an end as well. Next race for this series is in two weeks time at the Kansas Speedway.

Monster Energy cup series
Chase Elliott punched his ticket to the third round of the playoffs, winning earlier this afternoon at Dover. Of note, Jimmie Johnson had a wheel bearing failure, and lost 10 laps right at the beginning of the race. He ended up 36th, 16 laps off the pace. Kevin Harvick was dominant through the first two stages and the early goings of the third, but a loose wheel put him back and he ended up 6th. Next race for the Series is the 1000bulbs.com 500 at Talladega Superspeedway Next Sunday.

As always, as I get more news about driver/team changes adn the like, I'll update. Have a good week everyone.

Some more NASCAR silly season news coming at you this morning.

As expected, Levine Family Racing will be switching to Toyota starting next year, as annouced yesterday. Also annouced, Matt DiBenedetto will be driver of the #95 in 2019.

Darian Grubb, the current crew chief for Byron, will be moving to technical director role.

A look at this weekend's racing events

It's been a quiet week, other than the penalty handed down by Nascar to Kyle Larson following Talladega.

The Monster Energy and Xfinity series will be in action this weekend at Kansas speedway. We're now as the final race of round 2 of the playoffs, with a few big name drivers in danger, such as Kyle Larson and Brad Keslowski.

The Arca series season wraps up Friday Evening with the Kansas 150 at Kansas Speedway. Sheldon Creed has already locked up the championship for the series.

Formula 1 series comes to the lone star State of Texas for this year's United States Grand Prix at Circuit of the Americas.

More information to come as it comes.
