Yeah, that bit was pretty painful. It's basically the Equestrian equivalent to drug abuse, alcohol abuse, etc.

Shocking moment of the show, the writers decide to throw TV-Y rating out of the window, that episode should belong to some anime episodes or something. Widdershins 9,938
I am thoughly surprised Tanks for the Memories isn’t the undisputed winner for this. I literally cannot even watch it again! It’s the episode on Death! Losing a pet has always been heavily, heavily traumatic for me; so when others say RD kind of acted immoral there, I can’t argue because I would do the same things! H-has... Tank even shown up since that winter...? I am too scared to check! You outlived a turtle, RD!

Denim&Venöm 14,202
Not sad as in tear jerking, but sad as in you just feel really bad for a character and their situation is Once Upon A Zeppelin. Twi is just pushed around and taken advantage of because of her status. Her time to take a break from royal life and just be a pony for once is taken away from her, catering to total strangers that don't consider the pony under the crown. Worse of all, she completely misses out on what little time she had with her family, and it's sad to see her both heart broken at all that time wasted and to see her just snap from the pressure. It's a painfully relateble scenario. Worse still, it's a bit of a dig on us as a fandom. That this is how we treat the cast and crew of the show, refusing to give them the space or recognition as human beings with their own wants and needs. Thankfully the episode doesn't stick with this assertion, and shows our willingness to give some space and respect, as well as come to the aid of our heroes. What's sad in it's own way is the portrayal of Iron Will. He's the only series antagonist who actually regressed after learning their lesson and became even worse of a character. Almost like Putting Your Hoof Down never happened.
TheAnimationFanatic 3,497
I would say "A Rockhoof and a Hard Place" Spoiler I mean think about it, The episode is essentially about Rockhoof going through an existential crisis, feeling like he has no meaning or purpose in this world, and asks Twilight to end his life and put him out of his misery.
Dreambiscuit 6,704
Return of Harmony Part 2. When everypony was getting caught up in Discord's trickery and Twilight was losing hope. along with her colors, that just killed me. It was so sad and hopeless. Amending Fences. Thinking about what Moon Dancer had gone through; all those years of loneliness, rejection and bitterness, makes me want to hug that poor girl. I'm glad Twilight amended that fence and set things right. That one really made me cry.
