I made pancakes! A bit rough, but OK. Next time I need to use something else to stir in the flour (not an egg whisk).

These are English pancakes, sprinkled with lemon juice and sugar and rolled up. I think they can also be called flapjacks (?)

Half a tea cup of flour, 1 tea cup of milk plus a bit of water, 1 egg, pinch of salt (literally), does 3 goes in the pan. I used margerine to fry in.

Station boss: "You ever worked on a cattle station before?" Wally: "No but I once worked in a beef canning factory in Chicago." Boss: "Know much about cattle?" Wally: "No but I've always been fond of 'em." (The Cattle Carters, BP film, 1962)

Bubble-and-squeak, which is, potato boiled with cabbage (or can instead use Brussels sprouts), then mashed and fried; served with a sausage, Cheddar cheese, some leftover raw onion and red pepper, pickled beetroot, and Piccalilli pickle and ketchup.

Nectar  Ambrosia of the gods . . . (oops no, nectar was the drink of the gods)

This was always a Boxing Day lunch when I was growing up (and even after - with cold turkey pieces etc.)
