Ruby too laughed at what the hybrid said, but her laugh sounded...delighted "You little ones are always so fierce, I love it." "I should probably warn you that your little claws wouldn't be able to even scratch an itch from me." it was true, they were too small to penetrate her scales, and even if the hybrid somehow managed to enchant them, they would be too short to reach her skin, that being if she even got close enough, after all, she was just a bit bigger than Ruby's head, being a filly. 

Ruby then suddenly looked looked more serious and she stopped laughing "And if you have gotten any sense from your better half, you know that we don't hold back even for a kid." It wasn't a threat, it was a warning, and the sudden blood chillingly cold tone made that clear, her tone then warmed up just as quickly as it had gone cold "Though I have some standards I have to fill.".

"You just gave away your plan attack, now any chance you'd have of winning is gone... if you even had a chance to begin with."

Suddenly the hybrid lunged at Ruby only to be caught by magic. Arrow got her before she could attack Ruby.

"I'll just escort her out of the castle."

Arrow started to walk off, escorting the dragon-pony out of the castle.

Ruby didn't even flinch, but it was clear that she had almost transformed, because her eye's were in the reptile form and her claws had burst out already, but she quickly reverted back to her normal-pony form, "Now kiddos, important lesson about fighting a dragon, don't go for the eyes, because even though they are the softest place, we can just close our eyes to protect them, and even if you get them..." "....Well, I can say from experience that there's nothing more dangerous than blind dragon." "That and we can still pinpoint you with our other senses."

"What about shoving a spear down their throat?"

Never in his life did Somnus think a kid would ask such a question.

"That's a good and... strange question that I guess Ruby could answer."

"I doubt she'd go for it since she can't lay around in treasure being lazy. That's basically the only reason she agreed to this job."

"What Somnus said." Ruby confirmed, clearly not ashamed about it at all "I'm not here because I want to protect you ponies, and I'm definitely not here because I want to serve the princesses." "i'm only here, because it benefits me, and the benefits are worth the losses." she then continued, with surprisingly...reasonable reasons, "Besides, we dragons are known for bunch of things you ponies consider bad, or even evil, and in my case the stereotype is quite accurate...." "...so putting me into the combat force could, and most likely would cause mistrust and such towards me among the pony-guards, and that could cause it's own problems, especially considering that I'm not the calmest creature around."

Somnus no matter how many times Ruby said her reason for being here, it still bothered him. Now that she said this to a bunch of kids, the bat pony was not happy about this. He was going to say something about this after the tour.

"Ok, now we will go to the final part of the tour, the meeting room."

He took everyone to the meeting room where a bunch of ponies were discussing ideas for improvements for the guards. It seems the princesses finally took his advice.

"...and that's another reason why we must start distributing enchanted weapons to all guards. Given the increase in magical threats, tomorrow we will be discussing ways we can improve military technology. Meeting is over, you are dismissed."

It seems to be the same high ranking guy who made Ruby help with the tour.

Ruby just glanced at the guard, like in case of everypony else, she wasn't going to go through any of the customs like saluting, the only reason why she had even listened him was because Celestia had made her promise that she would follow orders...to certain extend, Ruby being relieved from pretty much every other guard duty than guarding the treasury, only orders anypony else than Princesses could give were punishments, and she was required to answer questions. But all of the higher ranking ponies were already aware that she wasn't one for showing respect, even though it had been attempted to changed by pretty much everypony at least once.

A colt had a few questions, which were pretty weird.

"Did anyone ever die in here?"

"No."

"Will anyone die in here?"

"I hope not."

"What about you Ruby? Did you die in here?"

"Like I said earlier, haven't done that ever anywhere to my knowledge." it was still weird question, Ruby's guess was that either they weren't talking about the same thing, or this pony just was an utter idiot.

Somnus was visibly creeped out. Who wouldn't be?

"I probably won't, but that's if Ruby doesn't eat me in my sleep. But I taste pretty bad, so I should be fine."

He wasn't too worried about that since there were plenty of things keeping that from being much of an issue.

Ruby simply replied, she did regonize that it was getting weird, but she was still far from being creeped out "But yes, most likely, though not during your lifetime." she then turned to look Somnus and said with humorous tone "Your taste doesn't matter until after you're eaten." against everyone's expectations, the dragon had just made a joke.

All the kids walked out, they likely left the castle.

"Well, those kids have some serious issues."

Arrow walked into the room.

"That dragon-pony thing tried to bite me when I escorted her out! Who does that!?"

Ruby replied to Arrow "I have been saying that we dragons are different to you ponies the whole time I have been here and you keep insisting it's just me." she looked at Somnus "There you just saw a half-dragon who has grown up in your friendly civilization of kindness, yet she wasn't any kinder than I, if not worse." "It is in our blood I tell you."

The dragon-pony hybrid ran in.

"Actually, I lost a bet to that creepy kid obsessed with death."

"It makes sense. If she was truly like you, she would've tried to steal from the treasury."

The hybrid walked off.

"No, it actually doesn't make any sense, and she not being greedy doesn't mean she can't be like a dragon, she is only half-dragon after all." Ruby pointed out "This was obviously planned by someone who knows who I am, and only ones who know that, are ponies inside this castle and now those kids." "And the fact that she just came in to answer to what I said without being here to hear it, after supposedly getting thrown out, only confirms it." she was clearly annoyed, not mad, but annoyed, if there was something she couldn't stand, it was being made a fool out of.

Will Guide the Changeling/Unicorn housekeeper for hire was just patrolling the hallways for any messes to clean up. He was hired to help clean up the castle and Will wanted to help his inner Changeling get used to places like this.

Hearing all this, Arrow went and got the creepy kid who was walking out with the other kids. He also got the dragon-pony. It seems they were going to be questioned.

"An explanation is in order. Ruby thinks that someone here knows who she is and something bigger is going on."

The creepy kid laughed.

"You're smart for a dragon. I expected the bat pony to catch on, but not you."

The colt transformed into some sort of changeling.

"Weren't the changelings reformed?"

"Most were, but I wasn't. After Thorax came into power, I went off on my own and became a thief. This was going to be my biggest heist yet. This counts as a heist right?"

He realized he was getting off track.

"Anyway, I manipulated this hybrid into attacking you to serve as a distraction. It would've worked if it weren't for Arrow."

"Not really, you are the only theif. Ruby would've just eaten you after swatting away the dragon-pony or I broke up the fight."

The changeling stood there realizing Somnus' point.

"I guess I didn't think this through..."

"Ruby, you wanna apprehend the changeling or should I? If you do it, you better not eat him."

Soon after, an Alicorn stallion as tall as Celestia herself made his way into the Castle Hall. "Here we are, Canterlot's Royal Castle. It seems to be a lovely place!" He smiled as he went to visit the halls and corridors. He was a light blue Monarch, with a blonde mane regally combed, boucles being formed at the end. It would be the same for his tail.

Will was just entering the room. "Um excuse me, but be careful of how you use the word Changeling around here. I have a Changeling friend who's still stuck in "hungry caterpillar form" as I called it. Even though he has me to love him, it's not enough for him to transform like the rest of Thorax's hive. I wonder if we'll ever figure out why. Anyway, is there anything I can do to help you?" Unicorn Will said to one of the guards.

The changeling thief spoke first.

"I'm Felis."

The dragon-pony was next to speak.

"I'm Medius a-and I didn't know that he wanted to steal anything. I thought it was a bet."

Somnus looked down at the scared hybrid.

"I know. You're not in any trouble."

He gave a quick glance at Ruby and whispered to her.

"She is not in trouble and you will not tell her otherwise. You will also not insult her."

He looked over at Will.

"We do not need any help, but could we get your name?"

At some point, some hoofsteps could be heard. And to the sound of it, the being making them was wearing golden shoes, thus it could be either Royalty or a Royal Guard. Though no sound of clinging metal could be heard, therefore it was Royalty for sure.

"Dragons are intelligent." Ruby pointed out "Or at least my speacies of dragon is." she was visibly annoyed to be thought as stupid. 

 "I don't eat bugs, they taste terrible." "But otherwise I can't assure its safety, so if you want to be sure, you better deal with it."

Ruby didn't notice the newcomer, she was too focused on the two brats who tried to make fool out of her.

As usual, Ruby ignored Somnus "Stupid as a pony, foolish like a young dragon, you really are half-both." "Just for the future kid, don't attack dragon 100 years older than you, it never ends well." she looked at the hybrid to her eyes "Especially when they are injured and forced to tolerate bunch of kids."

Arrow grabbed the bug with his magic and walked off with him.

"50 bits says he's gonna cause trouble later."

Somnus could hear footsteps in the halls. He was pretty sure it was royalty, but wasn't completely sure. He peeked out into the hallway to see who was there.
