I hate to say it. but I think Tumnlr is about to discover a huge drop in usage.

It's only a matter of time before people start finding and create alternatives. My prediction is that Tumblr will lose so much traffic that they won't be able to sustain themselves.

Judging from the comments thus far, it's fair to say that Tumblr could be making a very big mistake. My opinion? I don't really use Tumblr so this doesn't affect me at all but I know that others will be affected by this.

Yeah, but I'm sure a lot of the art you've seen on there was posted on Tumblr. Even if all MLP porn is banned there, at least it's still on Derpibooru.

We should be glad that there are alternatives out there.

Never used Tumblr, at most is was to see Motherly Scootie the Cutie. Other than that was following an artist I’ve discovered because I’ve stumbled upon a beautiful pony/Gravity Falls clop comic in derpibooru

Bad move... I mean, I get it, but it's way too late. Once you've allowed your brand to devalue itself like this, no amount of backtracking or PR will save you. They should have acted when that content was starting to appear, not until it had already festered into a very sizeable chunk of their stakeholders.

Well, with Facebook and Twitter going down the gutter, why not Tumblr? A pro tip that no social media site seems to want to listen to is that if you want your site to stay active in this day and age, don't make an enemy out of the user by censoring them. :yeahno:

And the backlash they received over permanently activating safe search didn't give them a hint?

Sounds like Tumblr will end up like SodaHead. Never heard of it? Well it was a custom polling site that allowed for the embedding of images and videos into the poll as well as a discussion page for each poll and daily staff questions asked to the community on a variety of topics.  Why have you never heard of it? Well in 2015 they locked all the accounts and told their user base that they would shift their entire focus on marketing their ad based polling software to third parties.

The site has effectively been declared a dead domain, and it sounds like the same will happen to Tumblr. At the very least it will end up as a niche afterthought like Myspace.

Why should I care?Oh because I don't.  Porn lovers act like the world is gonna end just because one stinkin media shut down the party. Buy yourself some magazines like the old fashion way.

Finally! I hope that stupid positive internet (a stupid system that blocks many internet sites for that kind of reasons which is kinda sucks) will not ban Tumblr anymore.

I just want some pony comics but no, it thinks I'm a pervert and want to find some porn, I just want tha ponez (with no porn in them obviously)

To me, I think that's a reasonable move to completely make sure young Tumblr viewers do not see explicit content by accident as it is widely used by many. Even with the Safe Mode function on it may not completely protect them from accessing Tumblrs they shouldn't be on until they're adults. Even parents have to make sure their kids are completely safe when browsing the Internet as it can be a dangerous place when safety measures aren't enabled.

It's true that sometimes we may face these drastic changes in our lives, but no matter what we must remain strong together as there's always an alternative solution to the problem that can make both sides happy.

Talk about shooting themselves in the foot. Tumblr was never good anyways.

So, as someone who uses tumblr regularly, this was a big issue for people with the opposite opinion. Before this decision was made, users were demanding adult content be removed from tumblr and were typically toxic and angry about the fact it wasn't being removed. Only after the tumblr app was removed from the app store (for having said adult content) did they decide to do anything about it.

Now you have people who use tumblr for adult content raging. To be honest, I feel bad for the tumblr staff... no matter what they do, no one is happy and everyone is pissed.

I think what people are really mad about is that sites like Tumblr are pretty safe from viruses and whatnot so unlike a lot of existing porn sites people didn't have to worry about infecting their devices because they wanted to check out the adult content. Whether it's for the porn itself or simply for the art (because let's face it, porn artists are extremely talented) Tumblr was a well-known, familiar place where artists could get their stuff out there without endangering their fanbase.
