The downside is that it's not good for vector drawings. It's a software for drawing in a more traditional pencil style. Plus, you'll have to buy a tablet if you don't have one. However, if you want to draw in your own style, SAI is probably the best free software available. Almost all other drawing programs will cost you a monthly fee of $10~$15, which isn't cheap.
