YoshiAngemon 216
Last I heard, neither Tails nor Knuckles will be in the film. It'll just be Sonic and Dr. Eggman.
Kyoshi 39,406
This movie is going to be a disaster of epic proportions. It is going to be hilarious in that way. Absolutely nothing is pointing towards this movie being even 0.1% good. It is going to be like watching a train wreck in slow motion. So tragic, yet you cannot look away. The trains in this case have nuclear fusion reactors on them. Edited April 13, 2019 by Kyoshi

They're just begging for a lot of hate by both the critics and the fans. The Emoji Movie was a trainwreck because the director refused to listen to the fans to even release it and yet they still released it anyway, showing no regard or consequences altogether. If I was the director, and if it's gonna be a disaster even before the release, I'd cancel it altogether and call it a day. Instead, all they're doing is digging themselves into their graves because they knew that their movie is gonna come out terrible, but they obviously don't care. Hell, I bet there's a petition to stop the movie from being released altogether. But I guess the director who is making this movie isn't the listening type, are they? Especially because petitions solve nothing and are often ignored.
Will Guide 21,231
Unlike Detective Pikachu, which had people warming up to it as time goes on, this is heading towards disaster! You want a decent Sonic movie, watch the Sonic OVA that came out in 1996 https://sonic.fandom.com/wiki/Sonic_the_Hedgehog:_The_Movie Edited April 30, 2019 by Will Guide

You want a decent Sonic movie, watch the Sonic OVA that came out in 1996 https://sonic.fandom.com/wiki/Sonic_the_Hedgehog:_The_Movie Detective Pikachu has some abominable designs here and there, but also has some decent to good ones. I guess it's quite a hit or miss. With Sonic, you only get a miss, because Sonic himself is so awkwardly designed. It's hard to describe. It's live-action, but the problem isn't that he is designed too realistically and not cartoony enough, it's that they took a whole different direction with him and gave a completely different, really bad cartoony design instead of just translating his normal design into live action like the directors of Detective Pikachu did with Pikachu. Dare I compare to the way the Zelda characters were designed in the CD-i games? That's the best comparison I get at here, and I don't know why in the world they thought they had to do this to Sonic. The design is just flat out bad. It's like a cheap knock-off of the real thing (hence my comparison to CD-i Zelda).

ZethaPonderer 2,194
I have no words for it other than a mix of emotions. From to to finally . Ever since Detective Pikachu became successful at the box office financially, Hollywood figured hey we’re finally getting the hang of making a decent movie involving video game franchises. Let’s do with Sonic The Hedgehog. What a weird and tragic year 2019 has been. Either Hollywood is desperately trying their damndest to make good movies out of video game franchises or Furries have finally gained influence and taken over the Film industry. My money’s on the latter since both of these movies with their designs are so furry looking. Even the ones that are not intended to be furry looking. Why is Charmander and Bulbasaur so furry looking??!?!!! I don’t intend on watching both Detective Pikachu nor Sonic the Hedgehog (2019) ever since I watched their trailers respectively. Still both of them are better than the Emoji Movie though.
Steve Piranha 25,786
Damn, Robotnik is the only good thing I saw there. The classic dastard with the mustache villain, yet classy. The rest.....

Yes, it does. Even if it is "doomed from the start" as you put it, they're still going to make at least some of the money back. If they don't release it, they're gonna lose all 90 million. And I can guarantee you that losing 90 million dollars is going to hurt the careers of those who worked on this movie more than any potential backlash they might get from releasing it. And even ignoring the money and the potential effect on people's livelihoods, there's also the effort that people put into this movie. Expecting people to throw all that effort in the trash because of random people on the internet thinking it's going to be a bad movie is not only stupid, it's downright childish. This is also assuming that it is doomed. Despite the internet's backlash, the emoji movie made over 150 million dollars, who's to say that the same thing won't happen to this movie? Edit: And you're also ignoring that the director simply isn't allowed to flush down the result 90 million dollars (yes, I'm gonna keep harping on about the budget) and 5 years of work down the toilet. The decision of whether or not the movie is going to be released is up to whoever owns the distribution rights of the movie. Denim&Venöm 14,202
Not gonna lie. A small part of me was hoping we'd get the Ivo Robotnik from the Archie comics and SatAM show. That along with the complete and total lack of any Crush 40 songs in the trailer are now relatively low grievances I have with this movie. Thing is, at least the design of Sonic can be fixed. Sure, 6 months is a tight time frame to get it done, but not impossible. Though I doubt they will even try.
CloudMistDragon 5,969
I think some people are overreacting to how bad the trailer is, but it still reeks of generic failed video game film adaptation shit. His World would've made for the perfect trailer song, yet they went with Gangsta's Paradise. Was the music choice for this trailer done by someone who thought the movie was about Knuckles or something?

YoshiAngemon 216
I still think that Paramount and SEGA were aiming for making it as bad as Super Mario Bros. with Bob Hoskins, John Leguizamo, and Dennis Hopper as Koopa.

TheRockARooster 43,297
I think I would change Sonic’s face to be more like the games but I wouldn’t change Dr. Robotnik, Jim Carrey had me in stitches. ^^ And I would have had Crush 40 music instead of the steaming rubbish in the trailer. No. It's better that guy remains absolutely ignorant from this movie. He's already at the peak of his mental breakdown. If he can get triggered to the point of insanity from the eye color and arms of Sonic The Hedgehog, imagine what this movie would do to him? I don't want to say what he'll do to himself, but it won't end well for him. Conspiracy Theory: This movie is an assassination attempt on Chris-Chan and Sonic The Hedgehog as a franchise which might be a good thing for some of you. Personally I will admit that I grew up with this franchise as a child (wasn't obsessed with it like some people), but ever since SEGA is struggling to find an identity for The Blue Blur now that he's no longer Mario's rival plus Shitty Sonic The Hedgehog Games (Sonic 2006), I grew out of the series and remained an Ex-SEGA fan. Back to topic, I've read some news from the director of this movie that he'll "attempt" to redesign Sonic in this movie. A part of me wants to watch this movie out of sheer morbid curiosity to see their "attempt" of Sonic's design and just how are they going to make this movie work. However, that would involve me and my family members spending money on this movie to watch in movie theaters at November 2019. Sooo... what do I do with this part of me? Repress it? Or Embrace it? Spoiler On the one hand, I do like the rest of the cast, including Jim Carrey as Dr. Robotnik, along with the fact that this movie will not take itself seriously and the plot-points based on the trailer seems like an origin story of who/what Sonic The Hedgehog is. Wouldn't surprise me if its a mad science experiment plot-point or an alien from outer space plot-point for Sonic in this movie. All in all, I'm curious yet horrified. Photon Jet 5,477
I'm still gonna watch this movie even if it looks unsettling for many others. The only way to properly review a movie is to watch it when its on cinemas. It MAY be good or maybe not. We''l just have to wait and see.
