What are your favorite hobbies?  :flutterhat:

I'm not entirely sure. I like listening to music, watching cartoons, and browsing pony stuff online, but I've struggled to find something I'd really consider a hobby. I've tried video editing, I play some musical instruments now and then, and I occasionally try drawing ponies. I hope I can make at least one of these a hobby someday.

Hey -- fellow Christian here.

Anyway, what's your favorite Bible verse?

I'd say my favourite is John 3:16.

For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

A couple others that I really like as well are James 1:5 and Amos 3:7. :-D

What relaxes you?

Not a lot honestly.  I've always found music to help settle my mind though, or make me feel worse. :sealed: It depends what I listen to I suppose.

Hopefully I am not coming over as unfriendly in any way;

You believe in god and sins. But how do you treat and behave around sinners?

Also, I am not religious myself, albeit my mom is working as a verger for 2 or 3 decades now. I still like to help people, and would love if I could for all of them, but I have the acceptance in that I cannot, unfortunately.

For my own morale standards, I roughly have 2 base rules:

- Anything goes that isn't hurting anyone else, and be honest with others.

- The same goes from you to yourself.

No worries. That's a good question! :)

I always do my best to treat everyone with kindness and respect! I believe that's a fundamental point of Christianity. I consider everyone, including myself, to be a sinner in one way or another anyway. I most certainly don't do the right thing all the time, so why should I treat others badly for the same thing?

Here's a more detailed, though possibly confusing, response to your question. It's kind of long, so don't feel to obligated to read it if you don't want to.

Spoiler

The approach I try to take when treating anyone, regardless of who they are, stems from another one of my favourite passages from the Bible.

Matthew 22

36 Master, which is the great commandment in the law?

37 Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.

38 This is the first and great commandment.

39 And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.

40 On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.

My ideal and goal is to love everyone. I always try to treat others in a loving way that will help make them happy and joyful. If I meet someone who I see as sinning against God, I treat them with as much respect and kindness as I know how. I don't condone or approve of some of their choices, but I accept their right to live the way they see fit. I share what I believe, but I do what I can to not force those beliefs on others. If I do, then I'm starting to act like the devil himself.

I apologize if this is hard to understand. I'm really not all that good at explaining my beliefs.  Maybe an example will help? (Or make it more confusing, sorry)

One strong belief I have is that it is wrong to create or view pornographic/NSFW material. The main reasons I believe God commands that, is one, I believe that it's addictive and objectifies the human body. Two, it weakens and destroys family bonds, thus causing conflict, grief, and pain. And three, God created and gave us bodies and they should be treated with great respect. Pornography abuses the sacredness of the body and the reproductive powers which I believe are to be reserved for strengthening marriages and having children.

For these reasons, I personally can never condone pornography in any form. I know a good number of people on MLPF and elsewhere view suggestive and/or pornographic content to one extent or another. That doesn't make me hate anyone or want to treat anyone with disrespect. I like friends! I just don't see porn as leading to anywhere but eventual regret, even if it does seem like harmless fun. How could I consider myself a good friend if I supported that?

I understand that you see things differently and I really hope you aren't offended by anything I've said. I know you're a great person and I love what everyone on the forums does for each other, regardless of religious or moral beliefs. :fluttershy: If this does come off as offensive, please forgive me. I'm honestly not trying to force my beliefs on anyone. I just don't know how else to fully answer your question.

Why anxious?

What is for you more important? Christmas or easter?

Was you ever in Salt Lake City or do you want to visit it?

What is for you the most important part in your religion?

What is your favorite music?

I remember to hear that Mormons don't have the best stand under other christian confessions. Is this true? And if yes, do you sometimes get trouble because of your believes?

You may have answered this but I’m curious as to the “partial” part in your name and its origin.

That's a pretty good question! :-P I came up with the name about four years ago when I decided I wanted to have some sort of online identity. I suppose I chose the name "partial" geek, because I wanted something to signify that I was a geeky person, but I didn't always feel like I had a "geeky" enough personality. I also didn't feel like being too geeky was a good thing, so I only wanted to be a "partial geek". Looking back, I'm not really sure why I had that exact perspective. The reason I've kept the name is because although I no longer feel the need to avoid being "too geeky", I do feel the need to remember that there's much more to me that one label. If I were to create an internet name for myself today, I doubt I'd choose "Partialgeek", but I keep it because I don't want to forget my past. If this is kind of difficult to understand, that's probably because I don't fully understand the the origin of my internet name myself. ^_^ The most clear thing I can remember is having insecurities as I created it, but it's part of me now, so I don't expect to change it anytime soon.

I'm not sure why I'm anxious. Social anxiety is one of my worst difficulties. I've had therapy and meds though, so I'm doing a bit better these days.

Although I have a bigger celebration at Christmas, I would say that Easter is the most important holiday for me. It celebrates the resurrection of Jesus Christ and when the bonds of death were loosed. His birth was clearly required for that to happen, but His death and resurrection were the climax.

I've visited Salt Lake City once. I loved the sights there. I don't think anyone could deny that Temple Square is quite beautiful.

The most important part of my religion is Jesus Christ himself. He's my Saviour and because of Him, I and everyone can have hope to return to the presence of our Heavenly Father.

My favourite types of music are mostly high energy electric and somber/sad piano or orchestral. I mostly get my music from the pony scene, so I usually listen to artists like Princewhateverer, John Kenza, Black Gryph0n, Exiark, and a variety of others.

I know that there's some Christians that don't have the best opinion of my church, but I've never had many problems because of it. I'm not sure if it's because we have more books of scripture than just the Bible, the fact that we believe that God the Father and Jesus Christ are two different people, or something else, but I don't let it bother me too much. We all believe in the same Christ after all.

Which other parts of Canada and the USA do you have visited?

And which other parts of the world?

And which do you want to visit?

There's been a few different places I've visited, including Edmonton, Montreal, Seattle, Portland, and several smaller places. I'm currently living in Idaho actually.

The only other place I've been to is New Zealand. I'd really love to go back someday! :-D

If I could choose any new place to visit, I'd love to go to Australia. Something about it facinates me I suppose. I also wouldn't mind taking a trip to northern Canada or the UK.

Assuming I am not misinformed, he wasn't born on Christmas. The date was chosen because of another religion being before Christians, and how do you take followers from other religions? By making the transaction not to effortful and TOO different.

Not sure what the other religion was - or just pagans?

I think I know this...because of Dan Brown novel? :mlp_confused: If that was the source...he is an author who researches the things he claims and backgrounds, so I would trust him on that one.

I therefore also believe that the religious believes (and writings) wouldn't be different at that time much from social standards - Who would join a religion they cannot identify with?

You create a new religion. You want a lot of ppl to identify with it.

I'm no expert, but if I remember correctly, I heard that Dec 25th became Christmas because there was a pagan holiday celebrated around the same time of year. I'm not entirely sure, but I think that might have been because of pagan governments wherever Christianity was based at the time and Christians had to hide their celebrations under the cover of another holiday. I could be wrong though. Is that at all similar to what you read?

I do know for a fact that Jesus was not born on December 25th though. I think it was closer to April.

Pretty muhc, without reading about the hiding part. Do you know where you got that from?

Not really. A lot of what I know is because of discussions with my family more than my own research. That's what I wasn't very sure about that part. I might have to do some of my own research to understand it better.

When I remember it right, than it was the traditional Yule celebration. But I am also not sure.

Anyway, what is your favorite weather and why?

And what is your least favorite weather and why?

Is it true that it forbidden is mormons to drink alcohol and coffee or to smoke cigarettes?
