Sci-Twi: Love Her Or Hate Her?

Lately, there’s been a lot of arguments about Human Twilight Sparkle (or Sci-Twi) from the Equestria Girls Spinoff of My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic, namely whether she is ultimately loved or hated by almost everybody! Hoping to put these arguments to rest and to get this off my chest, I have put a poll system to determine if Sci-Twi REALLY is as bad as what other people say or if she is an at least decent character in her own right!

I don't dislike her. She's also not my favorite. But to be fair, she was very repressed in that school, and I can relate to that a lot. Still, her isolation seemed forced. A school like Crystal Prep would have had more students hanging around her. Even if they didn't like her personally, she would've had a few acquaintances who were interested in her work and would want to be involved. Kind of like the Ghostbusters before they got kicked out of the college.

Oddly enough, I've had ideas bouncing around my head for over a year, for a Sci-twi centric show that takes place before she meets her first real friends.

Neither do I. The simple fact that she’s different from pony Twi while the rest of the human Mane 6 are pretty much like their horse selves, is a plus by itself

I like her but sometimes I feel she's too different from the Twilight I know. It's not so bad but the differences are a bit much at times.

Well, I'll give her 8 stars. Since I love how she reformed and her curiosity and her interests of magic of course. But what I don't understand is why does Sci-Twi have wings? It wouldn't make sense if she was a pegasus because of her wing shape. I'm still wondering- if Sci-Twi goes into the portal to Equestria, will she be an alicorn? or will she be a unicorn? I mean.. it would kinda make sense because the two worlds are linked. But she's sometimes too different from the Equestrian Twilight. However, she's a really nice character as an overall.

Compared to the other five, Sci-Twi's background was radically different. She hadn't the slightest clue of what it was like to have friends, and seemed pretty oppressed on top of that. Pony Twi had everything going for her. SciTwi had everything going against her until she got out of Crystal Prep.

I feel that Equestria Girls is just a mess. Having two Twilight's doesn't help that fact either. So, honestly, I don't have any feelings towards the character.

I feel like you could have Twilight be more like Twilight without making her too similar to Sunset Shimmer, and I don't feel like Equestria Girls needs a "leader" role. That roller coaster special was a pretty good example of what I would like to see; I think that balanced them well without making Twilight act timidly.

Sci-Twi was absolutely amazing and genuinely my favorite character in EQG judging by her portrayal in The Friendship Games. Legend of the Everfree kinda left a sour taste in my mouth though. Haven't watched any EQG since. I wanna believe Sci-Twi's characterizations went back to being as great as they were in Friendship Games, but I have my reservations...

Now the "original" Sci-Twi, on the other hand, gets my unconditional support no matter what!

Sci-Twi is basically the Princess Twilight before she moved from Canterlot to Ponyville. The both of them were just studying without having or making any good friends. So Princess Twilight learned about Friendship through all the seasons of FiM. Sci-Twi and actually Sunset Shimmer as well, are still in the process of the Friendship thing. And Sci-Twi is different from Princess Twilight. A science student vs a magic student. Sunset and Princess Twilight are both insecure but when needed they both can rise to the occasion. Sci-Twi is still more insecure and needs some encouragement from Sunset. But in all Sci Twi doesn't deserve the hate. She is as she is, a rich kid with brains who went to a private high school. An A+++ student without friends so very lonely. I still wonder what Sci-Twi and Princess Twilight have talked about after they met for the first time at the end of the Friendship Games. Maybe Princess Twilight gave her some good tips how to learn more about Friendship.

I'm not a fan; I think it's an illustration of Twilight Sparkle before her character developed. And after all that the show has been through in helping her character grow, it was just uninteresting and uninspired to sit though a human version of it. Sure, maybe it would've been cool to reflect on how much Twilight had grown, but they did't need to create a whole other human character for it...

 

I give her 3 stars, just because she's still my lovely Twilight...
