Minkypie 1 Share April 5, 2019 Heey guys, If you tell people you are a fan of MLP do you also get positive reactions or are they usually negative?
Booker 1,985 Share April 5, 2019 The only person I've told is my close friend, and he reacted positively (though he's a good person, so I kind of expected it)
 Badges
SharpWit 2,037 Share April 5, 2019 Most people don't seem to care. In my step dad's case, he's more understanding of people liking this show than Pokemon One of my coworkers is a huge fan of the TMNT franchise so we could be somewhat understanding of each other. Although she was a fan of the newer TV series and hadn't seen the movies from the 90's which had me dumbfounded, but considering all of the other forms of media it's taken as well as MLP that I've not indulged in, I'm in the same boat by default.
 Badges
Scootaloo17 0 Share April 5, 2019 I haven’t told anyone I watch MLP, but it’s up to you if you think it’s important. I’m a new member and I think being here for one another is what embraces the fandom for MLP because i don’t think you’ll be able to have a long conversation about the show with them like the people you can here. JetPistol 29 Share April 5, 2019 I tell people on the internet all the time, because I crave attention and negative reactions are usually more entertaining than positive ones. Also zero risk is involved. IRL, I only tell very close friends and family members because I am fully aware that people knowing you're a ponyfag "in the REAL" is likely to get you lynched in the street, yo. oregon 168 Share April 6, 2019 I told my cousin years ago and it’s what started our friendship. We have more to talk about now though.
 Badges
TBD 15,841 Share April 9, 2019 shocked but mostly on the "meh" side.
 Badges
Dreambiscuit 5,826 Share April 14, 2019 So far only positives. Most people don't really care if they don't follow the show or know about it, and the rest think it's cool. I've never had any problems with negativity. I sometimes wear MLP t-shirts and very often get fun and interesting comments from people of all ages. Someone actually stopped me when I was on vacation once and asked to take a picture of my shirt!
 Badges
Cash_In 16,150 Share April 15, 2019 I try to avoid telling people that I'm a fan, though I admit it if it was brought up. The majority of reactions I've recieved have been positive, some even claiming that it's 'cute'.
 Badges
Lucky Bolt 33,589 Share May 6, 2019 I wouldn't say I get negative reactions, but I don't really get positive ones either. 1
 Badges

Partialgeek514 4,395 Share May 8, 2019 I usually don't get bad reactions. Some people are surprised when I tell them, though if I walk around my university campus wearing a pony shirt, it's not uncommon for people to complement me for it.
 Badges
Totally Lyra 30,219 Share May 27, 2019 I don't go out of my way to mention it unless the topic comes up on its own. That said, I find that people's reaction seems to be based on my own. If I say I watch it and sound embarrassed about it then people treat it like it's a bad thing. When I own it and have no reason to be ashamed for it then people tend to be cool with it, even people who hate the show are good with my confidence in it.
 Badges
RDDash 13,045 Share May 27, 2019 I'll probably never going to mention it in a casual conversation since the topic would never come out on its own .
 Badges
Prospekt 10,685 Share June 1, 2019 I've gotten good and bad reactions. But it's not something I talk about with people I'm not already close with.
 Badges
PonSky 24,632 Share June 1, 2019 I usually don't stay around people who give me negative reactions and if I do I just try to ignore them.
 Badges
cuteycindyhoney 11,685 Share June 1, 2019 (edited) Frankly, after nine years I still don't get it. There is no other show on TV, now or in the past, that people felt compelled to "Confess" to others that they watch. I've never gotten this trope of our fandom either.
 Badges
Acons 43 Share June 7, 2019 I was afraid at first, but when I started telling people about being a brony, I've never received a bad reaction. Ok, until now I just could make a person watch MLP, but the reactions were mostly neutral (some didn't know about MLP) and some positive.
 Badges
Splashee 20,083 Share March 24, 2020 I always get negative reactions. Like, "that's a show for little girls" and "no, grow up". Of course, that's why I never tell anyone. (So technically I haven't gotten those responds yet)
 Badges
ExplosionMare 8,854 Share March 24, 2020 My sibling is a fan with me and my family usually supports it. Their only concern is my love for FNAF just cause it’s horror.
 Badges
The Wife of Hawks 16,643 Share March 28, 2020 I tend to make friends with people who have similar interests or those whom I know won’t judge me for what I am into so I have never gotten a negative reaction for me liking MLP:FiM.
 Badges
EpicEnergy 18,339 Share July 14, 2020 The reactions I've gotten were confused reactions.
 Badges
Ocean Breeze 473 Share July 15, 2020 The reactions I get are either just positive or they just don't care that much.
 Badges
