is Pinkie Pie a unicorn?

back in the finale of season 8, it was made quite clear that unicorns would lose their magic on the first day. Starlight, Twilight, and Rarity were seen effected by this immediately. Pegasi and Earth ponies would lose their powers on the second and third day, respectively- as Dash was still seen being able to fly and manipulate weather, and earth ponies like Apple Jack and Pinkie.......

well, wait a cotton candy picking minute.....

Pinkie fusses over her baked goods having turned moldy while it was still the first day, and her friends commented that it was the lack of magic keeping them fresh.

so does this confirm that Pinkie is, in fact a unicorn, if she had lost her powers on the first day? Is there a horn behind all that super floofy hair? That very well could explain her uncanny ability to bend the fabric of reality, as we've seen her do on multiple occasions......

Probably magically enhanced ingredients. They don't have a delivery system nearly as complex as ours with major cargo vessels, planes, and truck routes. Their main thing is locomotives and cart delivery. The demand for ingredients that are risk to spoiling faster is high, but the means of delivery is not. In a world of magic, it's probably cheaper to add/do something to food items rather than spend millions if not billions of bits on traveling infrastructure.

And look at us IRL, we don't even know half of what goes into any of our processed foods unless we're a nutritionist or something.

With the magic gone, there's nothing to protect what should already be rotten.

No...

Pinkie has her own weird magic. I don't know how it really works but she is not a unicorn. If she was a unicorn she would have a horn (obviously)

Pinkie Pie does not have a horn. Therefore, she is not a unicorn. It's as simple as that.

If she had a horn, we would have seen it by now.

then how do you explain the rotten cupcakes on the first day, when unicorns were supposed to have lost their magic?

The baked goods in question were brought with them on a trip. Improperly packed food is not the same as food regularly prepared in a bakery. Pinkie's magic is easily explainable as well, the Season 4 finale revealed that even earth ponies have magic.

i refuse to believe that, and here's why- Pinkie has brought  food on trips before. and More importantly, as storytellers, the writers don't have reason to add in elements that don't contribute to the story in some way. The rotting cupcakes were immediately brought up to be a magic problem, not a location problem. They were rotting because the preservative magic was gone- the preservative magic, obviously, of that of a unicorn- which was central to the plot, as all unicorn magic had been put out of order. The only fact is that Pinkie- a supposed Earth Pony- had access to unicorn magic, so that the magic in her hand-crafted confectioneries was no longer present- is one that raises obvious suspicion. Regarding the logic of the plot, she has to be a unicorn.

So why make the post if you have an already hard set opinion?

Sorry writers do that all the time. Its called flavor or world building or adding levity. It does not need to contribute to the story as a whole to be added for a throwaway joke or moment of conversation.

People have already explained this. Magic in the actual food. The raw goods are treated by unicorns to make them last longer. Magical storage methods that keep them fresh long made by unicorns. ( her bags could be magically made by unicorns ) The ambient magic of the world being gone as per the loss of magic starting as a whole etc etc etc. There are a million reasons like that that could be the reason. But assuming a hornless unicorn is the least sensical concept of them all. If she was a unicorn she would have a horn it's that simple.

Unicorn?  No. :mlp_ooh:

If anything though, I'd say she's more like a budding Lady of Chaos. With her numerous abilities that defy physics (even by show standards) and reality such as: Popping out of pony manes, slowing her own falls out of will, moving faster than Rainbow Dash, Pinkie Sense, Hammer Spacing, reassembling herself/surviving falling to pieces, etc.

Our lovable Pinkie is a cartoon inside of a cartoon. :pinkie:

Hmmmm.

Naysay's amulet still worked, as did the door opener device. So enchanted items seemed unaffected, or were on the schedule to be drained even later. So Pinkie's 'cupcake preserver' wasn't an enchanted item.

It shouldn't have been drained if it was a natural innate magic of an Earth Pony, Pegasis, or the like. At that point only *spells* were being affected according to the rules.

Was the cupcake part of the food Cosy Glow prepared for the Mane 6? Perhaps this wasn't pointing out a magical effect, but the fact Cosy Glow gave them rotten food to begin with and this was a clue that the Mane 6 brushed off. The cupcake didn't just go off, it was thoroughly rotten, with fully-formed fungal growth.

Also no mention of what happened to Discord during this. Discord's chaos magic is 'stealable' as Tirek managed it, and he would have told Cosy Glow about that. So it's possible the magic stealing actually took him out of play earlier. In which case, perhaps Pinkie's abilities taps into chaos magic and she lost a significant chunk of that at that point. In D&D terms people keep putting Pinkie as a bard, but I've always wondered if she's better represented as a wild magic user.
