Science Favorite planet (besides this one) in the solar system?

Recommended Posts

Everyone knows how wonderful and amazing this blue planet of ours is, but which of the other 8 (Yes, I am including Pluto) planets is your favorite?

Saturn is my favorite planet in the solar system!

The almight Jupiter is my favorite. It is a sheer behemoth in size, having storms that dwarf the entire Earth. It's atmospheric structure makes for some amazing views. Plus, this is the planet I have been able to see best through my fairly inexpensive telescope. :3

This isn't my image obviously but just look!

What an incredible looking object. One that makes us seem basically nonexistent and holds power inside it that we can only fantasize about.

Mine is probably Neptune. I like the cool blue color of it.

Saturn, nothing beats a plannet with a ring around it, and Saturn has the best/most visible one

Venus. Named after the Roman goddess of love and beauty, but destroys pretty much everything we send its way. Plus you can spot it pretty easily in the night sky.

Neptune, it's easily the prettiest! I know Saturn has all those rings, but come on, you can't beat this blue beauty!

Neptune because the methane-rich atmosphere there makes for raining diamonds. Imagine bringing the largest container ever and an atmosphere condenser and collecting a crap ton of diamonds.

I like the red planet, Mars. If Elon Musk asks me nicely, I'll go with him when he goes!

I love this thread! Saturn is my favorite planet.  :squee:

@Kyoshi and @Lucky Bolt, Jupiter reveals different cloud structures when viewed in the methane absorption band at 889nm. :adorkable: Some Methane images of Jupiter and Saturn I took last summer with the 16" telescope:

Mercury! I find it so interesting how the planet closest to the sun can also get freezing cold

Absolutely Pluto. Somehow that planet reminds about my features pretty well - distant, mystic and bit likely humble. Also i'm rather slow in many of my actions, referring to planet's long orbital period (248 years)

Jupiter - with its moons, it is almost a solar system in its own right (the radiation there is a bit of a killer though, and it's a shame about the Channel A transmissions from Huygens...)

I'm all about Pluto, the unwanted planet. They tried to banish it from planetary status, but that's not how these things work. It's a fighter, it's gonna stick with us, and it's got my full support. :proud:

Definitely Saturn. I mostly like looking at star clusters through my telescope, but when I go scanning the sky for planets, Saturn is the planet that just jumps out at you.

I also feel like Venus is a fairly underappreciated planet with it's volcanous landscape, boiling hot surface and dense, toxic atmosphere.

Neptune of course, and then maybe Uranus since it's sideways; what could have possibly knocked it over? :ooh:

Image result for why does uranus rotate on its side

I mean, Saturn has always been my favorite. I love everything about Saturn... the hydrogen/helium atmosphere, the rings, the 62 moons, the fact that its gravity is almost the same as Earth's...

I LOVE Saturn. It's just a pretty planet to look at.
