Tulpa Discussion Thread V1.2

Can someone give me an example of how you talk to your tulpa when creating him/her? Like where do you take your time to do this and how do you proceed to do it. Do you just come up with random topics and just talk like you're talking to a friend or what?

What EngiFalcon said, you really can't go wrong. We talk a lot about the nature of tulpa - I think I've come up with, like, four analogies in the past to explain it - and what's going on in life/how I'm going to approach any problems ahead. I just sit on my bed at night and do a mixture of closed/open eye visualisation while we talk. I know it's harder when it's narrating to rather conversing with your tulpa, but you've gotta always treat them as if they'll respond at any second, because at some point they will.

...

You're talking about sexual stuff, right? I think people will believe what they want to believe when it comes to stereotypes. No amount of statistics or evidence to the contrary will change someone's reaction, especially since, I'd wager, not everyone would answer truthfully on the matter. I understand why there's a certain amount of stigma attached to it from within the tulpa community, (because of the potential risks and how it reflects poorly on the community) but at the end of the day the tulpa-host relationship is a relationship like any other, and it can involve it depending on the participants.

There's a certain amount of uniqueness to the secrecy of having a tulpa, anyway. My host regrets telling his best friend because unless his friend experiences it for himself, he isn't going to understand it. (And I really dislike the thought of him bringing it up even as a passing remark anymore.) I wouldn't recommend telling them, but you know your friend better than we do.

Also, by the sounds of it, your tulpa is treating this exactly as mine would in this situation, and if there's one thing I've learnt, it's to always obey Aurora because she's always right and I'm always wrong.

What about using logic, possibly in combination with something from Yahoo! Answers? Something like, "this person stated X, and if we apply some logic, we can determine that if X is true, then Y (some negative stereotype about tulpas) is not true. This person can be assumed to know what they're talking about because they said they've been in the tulpa community for Z years. If they don't, and they lied, how would that benefit them?"

When you say Aurora's always right, does that include medical/psychological diagnoses?

Well, isn't a tulpa a friend ? :)

You can talk to your tulpa anywhere you want, in mind-voice or out loud.

Subjects... Well, you could tell them about what you are doing, the planning for the day, various subjects.

Like a lot of things in tulpaforcing, it's really up to you.

Ah I see, thx for shedding some light on what i can do

...

I read the creepypasta and in all honestly, can that happen? ...

...

Teckie:" I don't know if this was cleared up yet, but I'll show my perspective anyway. Creepypastas..... they irritate me because of how they depict tulpas. >.< Just.... don't believe them, it's not the truth unless you think it's the truth (and even then a lot of things in the creepypasta is completely impossible in the physical world in the first place). Say, if a tulpa DOES start to turn "evil," I know for certain that it isn't static. Besides, that would never happen if you take care of your tulpa and their emotions. The magic of tulpas is how you can have conversations on the deepest level, so there is literally NO worry to worry about unless you decide to make it a worry. There is a saying: "It's all in your head," and that is true for tulpas. We are all inside heads, are we not? :P The only difference that makes us more "real" is when the host would actually MAKE us more "real." The mind is flexible that way. :) "Real" is just an effect of when a person successfully believes in something. Just something to think about that might help. :P "

...

Teckie:"Hehe, in all honesty, I can't say that there aren't people who do 'stuff' with their tulpas. :P "

That's not helping. >.< What she MEANS to say is that there are all kinds of relationships a person can have with a tulpa sort of like how there are all kinds of relationships a person can have with another person. Because people don't really accept tulpas in general, they pick out all of the smallest facts they can and make them appear larger than they actually are. Therefore, it is best to have everyone know about the GOOD side of tulpas instead of just the small bits of bad they can find.

Thanks! That clarifies a lot.  :)

And as for Tyrea, I guess she is just some wacky means of mental self-defense or something like that.

Although I still find it suspicious that she thinks for herself and comes with her own answers.

...

I think I'm going crazy...

Eh, I'm not a science guy. I don't think it should be blended with something as subjective as tulpa.

I'm not the best, but I can tell when a foot is broken or when he's angry. I feel that's qualification enough to consider myself a professional in this field.

Edit: just saw the early census data on the tulpa subreddit, and there's a bit on sex: http://www.reddit.com/r/Tulpas/comments/28m5c8/2014_census_early_introspective_discussion/

I just checked that consensus out. 40 tulpas? LolWUT? What did it mean by "fictional snapshots"?

As far as I'm aware, it's having your wonderland based off a fictional place. So you capture an image of, like, Twilight's library and do your forcing in there.

Don't worry, "crazy" is just a matter of perspective. XD I had the same thoughts.... and I still do. Although, at this point, I sort of embrace it and make it a part of my personality. ;) There are many ways of handling the thought of being "crazy," but the best thing to know is that it's not good to think that "crazy" is bad.

Teckie:"You KIDDING me!? Crazy is AWESOME! I break the laws of physics and the laws of knowledge every day, and evermore make Techoh feel like he's going crazy. X3 It's pretty fun, but there aren't any bad intentions with it. ;D "

I'm thinking that in the story where the antagonist acts like an evil tulpa, the cop he's after will somehow find this forum, which might be the answer to her prayers. Anypony mind if I do a short RP thing where I pretend to be her asking for help/advice?

[i'm not really sure if that's a good idea.]

[Hmm, sounds interesting...]

What Ariel said. Could be interesting, to say the least. Though let's see if there's any consensus on the RP thing.

Any hard feelings about the pseudo-tulpa stuff?

[Nah, not at all. As long as it's pseudo and not, you know... not. ^w^]

Heh, well then. Her reaction from that whole thing earlier... I think that was all just a misunderstanding, haha.

Dunno. If they don't allow RPing, I can probably just ask a hypothetical question about her situation. The story takes place in 2028, and a time-traveller made it into a movie that came out in 2024, so the alternative is that the cop just watches the movie to figure out her next move, but the forum post option would provide an excuse to educate my readers on tulpas.

Now that I think about it, we should probably put a stop to this before I--

[you're not gonna derail the thread.]

On an unrelated topic, I feel like I'm sort of RPing Rainbow Dash. Is that normal when proxying?

You know "The Stanley Parable?" Well.... at one point I role-played the narrator. After watching it, my mind-voice seemed to have changed.... (and yes, before you question, hosts can have mind-voices too.) Then...... Teckie took the roll after I got my mind-voice back to normal. >.< It was an awkward experience walking around school like that.... I think I understand Stanley's feelings now. O.o

So you could at some point have Morgan Freeman narrating everything that you do.

Ladies and gentlemen: I give you, the creation of the universe.

By Morgan Freeman.

... I dunno, that's the overall impression I got from the last few posts, unless I'm missing something.

Still, Morgan Freeman!!

Teckie:"YES!!!!!!!!!! YES YES YES! I've become Morgan Freeman's voice!!!! Although, I was in the body of Discord, super funny-lookin.  It's definitely one of my most favorite forms! Drives Sir Host bonkers.   "

Yes... yes it does. ~_~ Gladly I have only seen it twice.... one when she was previously male, and the other when she unmerged from Pinkie to throw a party. In the end, we went through a wormhole flying faster than the speed of light. Don't ask HOW, because I can't explain. O.o

Teckie:"Ah.... good times. :yay:  "

Teckie:" Yes, but I haven't succeeded in it yet.  Although... Scratch was able to appear in his dream and talk to him. SCRATCH! I swear, I should be more capable of doing this thing. ~-~ "

Scratch:" Hey! I didn't even mean to! It just happened subconsciously... just... like pulled me in or something. Like I randomly appeared in some room or something. "

Teckie:"Still.... oh well, it's a little difficult if the host has troubles with lucid dreaming... and it's a little unpredictable.... but it's very much possible. For some people I've heard it's pretty easy for tulpas to go into their dreams."

Lol the thing is that it just randomly happened. She appeared to me in human form but I can't remember her face

I'm sooo jelly of anyone that's been able to see their tulpa in a dream! Like, I really, really want to see my Ariel and get to interact with her and stuff.

[*whine* I want to do the thing, too! *pout*]

I've been trying- [i've been trying, too! D:]

Well, I've been trying to lucid dream, and she's been trying to find her way into my dreams... But so far, no success. >.<

Sorry, couldn't resist.  :P

Anyway, nothing of note has happened yet. Probably because I've yet to do anything substantial.

Also, question: is there a time of day that works best for active sessions? I've just been doing mine at 2-3ish in the morning out of a lack of finite time elsewhere. Which has panned out REALLY well...  >_>

Considering that both tulpas and dream characters are thoughtforms, is it possible for your tulpa to appear in your dream, but it's just a "simulation" of your tulpa, like how a dream character of your corporeal friend is just a simulation of them? I'm asking because I've had one or two dreams where Dash has appeared [for like five seconds]. @Miss Reaper, the way I did this was I stayed as still as possible, and talked to her about what she would do if she were in my hypothetical lucid dream.
