Zombie apocalyspe:What does it take to survive?

Question: if a zombie apocalyspe(Or something else like silent hill or infection related)broke out,What do you think you will need or be skilled in to survive as long as you can and why?

Note:What I will say is all just opinions. So dont get emotional.I'm not saying a zombie invasion will happen.

I'm just wondering what you guys think of this.I'm answering this because of what people are saying about this "Miami" zombie stuff.People say it's because of the bath salts.anyways,I think that surviving wont be easy.Depending on the quality and quantity of what the infected will be.You will need good defense weapons.I will say something quiet like a knife or crossbow.Because loud noises can attract a zomies attention. You will also need a few team mates and good co-operation with your team mates. Also just because you have the big guns dosent mean your indestructible. It's good to be skilled with a weapon and know how to take care of that weapon.

The most important thing too is being both physicaly in shape and common sense.Good health is highly required too.Because it can lead you to not getting somewhere in time.Stay focused and watch your back.Zombies always come from all directions.Stay calm.Because screaming for an hour wont kill the zombie.(Unless if your dragon born)THE end.

I actually read a book about this. "The Zombie Survival Guide".

  • Move up north, colder temperatures and harsher climate = zombie repellant.
  • Small groups or 3-4 at most.
  • Constant Cardio work-outs. (Gotta' stay in shape)
  • Yes weapons are important. Any gun will do as long as you aim for the brain. Also a backup melee weapon such as a Trench Knife.
  • Definitely stay away from settled areas and buildings.
  • Nothing is important besides your life and the lives of your "teammates".
  • Shave your hair. A short cut is preferable so zombies cannot grab it.
I dunno' what else.

Yes, me too! That book was actually pretty entertaining! /)

-Let's see...I'd prefer the jungle over the tundra (according to that guide they'll rot a lot faster in the jungle)

-Hunting knife + a crossbow. (Guns are too loud)

-Never go alone. Not even to the bathroom.

Ah. Although the Jungle is FAR more hazardous then even the zombies...

I would prefer moving north because the slower temperatures would cause them to become more lethargic.

Also, if I remember correctly:

  • They die without food in 3 weeks or so.
  • They can see very far and any light source should be avoided at night.

I can't stand the cold. X(

An isolated, uninhabited island is probably the best choice, if one can be found.

How to survive the Zombie Apocalypse (For dummies and mentally challenged):

1. Read this article

2. Grab a popcorn

If all things gone to the worse, grab a train and set it on fire

Cold...or Zombies....Hmm...

Since I keep remembering stuff:

  • NEVER go to a hospital as this will most likely be the point of an outbreak.
  • Don't trust ANYONE.
  • If someone is slowing you or your group down...you may have to leave them.
  • Try not to leave any tracks, you don't want other survivors following you. They may be hostile or it may be disadvantageous to take them with you.

Since I'm pretty up north already (Rhode Island), I'll just hope it doesn't come in the spring, since the heat of summer and cold of fall/winter will destroy the dead bodies. I'd also go a little north-west, so I can camp out at the top of a hill in the Appalachians where I can see any zombies trying to reach me, opposed to the tree after tree where I live.

I'd also loot a few stores, get some food, blankets, a bike, and motorcycle gear (since according to Cracked that stuff is like armor), and a weapon (preferably a bow as they don't make noise, if not a gun and/or sword will have to do). I'd live like that until I find out that the zombie apocalypse is over and society is reforming.

Really, unless I'll be dealing with Left 4 Dead not-zombies (which I think is less likely than slow zombies, even if it's a man-made disease causing it, since dead cannot resurrect themselves) I think still normal humans will be more of a threat to me.

Now, this all goes out the window if the disease is airborne... Braaaains....

For boys, please don't forget to grab some girls along your way. We will need to repopulate

Wait a minute!!!

For GIRLS, please don't forget to grab some boys along your way. Be very choosy though, as we'll need to repopulate. Be prepared to abandon or shoot them if the need arises once their job is done.

There, that's better!

I don't understand why people say to go straight to like Wal-Mart and stores for supplies. Everybody is going to be there. Have you seen the crap that goes down at those places during these end of the world conspiracies?

Unless you have the body of a Roman god and already have all the supplies needed or you are Bear Grylls you're pretty much screwed. I highly doubt any of us here would survive, myself included. In fact, I'd probably be the first to go!

I think our best bet would be stealing a cruise ship and finding oil rigs in the ocean to live on.

Max Brooks is a genius, I love his books.

Basically sums it up.

If you use a rifle, try something bolt-action.

Wear pants and long sleeves, and like the book said, move up north.

A crowbar is preferably the best blunt weapon.

Excellent book. Some more important points:

  • ALWAYS DESTROY THE STAIRS!
  • Avoid Cities like the plague. Nothing but death traps.
  • Similarly, avoid major roads. As they are also death traps.
  • Similarier, avoid fields and large openings. As they aren't necessarily death traps, but make you easily visible.
  • ALWAYS DESTROY THE STAIRS! Cannot stress that enough.
  • Bicycles are the best all round form of transportation.
  • If you gotta gun, be prepped to run.
  • Laddered areas can be a blessing and a death trap.
  • Don't use fire in your house made of wood.
  • One last thing. ALWAYS. DESTROY. THE. STAIRS.

crowbars are useful to have because they have more uses than just making good weapons.

An ice cream O_O

I think a woodland would be the best environment. I would make sure not to overuse ammo and always look out for my teammates.

1. Grab a bunch of fruit and vegetable seeds

2. Find an island

3. Rid island of any zombies

4. Plant seeds

5. Find or create some kind of water source

6. Laugh at rest of world

On the island you'd have plenty of fish too.

How to survive? Well, easy

Good stamina, always be on guard, and have good aim with shotguns...aim for the head! The usual stuff, learned that from video games! *learned from survival horror games, insert me gusta face*

One thing that always irked me about zombies: Just how the heck did they infect you?

By their saliva?

If their infectious saliva entered your bloodstream equals to being infected, then why everyone thinks that being showered by zombie blood during melee rampage is a good idea?
