The anti-censorship campaign stance of Japan House of Councillors candidate Taro Yamada appears to have resonated strongly with his constituents, as it has been reported that Yamada has won his bid for election Yamada’s election campaign greatly focused on standing against the censorship of comics, manga, and video games, appealing greatly to the otaku community.

Nice to finally see an anti-censorship movement. Hope this keeps going and doesn't fizzle.

I want to shake this guy's hand. We can never have too many anti-censorship people going into politics, never. The public is sick of having their entertainment interfered with in the name of the "morals" of those who don't understand this generation. :yay:

Hey I'm all for this progress. Instances of graphic violence and gore are fine to be shown but sex and nudity aren't? It's the 21st century. Time to move on folks.

There’s a pro censorship in Japan? I thought that was a America thing.  Guess these people haven’t watch that much of rated M anime to know that Japan hardly do censors.

Hentai gets the censor bat all the time. So yes, Japan still has a contingent of pro-censorship people floating around. However, it's mostly archaic these days and nobody wanted to tackle it for fear of being seen as immoral.

So good on this guy for standing up for what we need more of: anime tiddies.

Yeah this has been on the news quite a bit lately here. Censorship here is unusual when connivence stores here literally have pornography next to the lifestyle, fashion, and manga magazines.
