When Human twilight went though the portal she was a unicorn, but when she ponies up she has wings but through the portal she doesn't, PLEASE EXPLAIN

I have no idea to be honest... like, human Fluttershy and Rainbow Dash grow wings when they "pony up" which makes sense. Yet, Sci-Twi is only a unicorn in the pony world because she never ascends to become an alicorn while she's there... maybe it just has to do with some cross-dimensional connection her spirit has with princess Twilight so she somehow borrows a bit of that alicorn power and grows wings when she "ponies up"?

That's my headcanon theory. It's probably far from the truth, if the writers even thought about it.

1. Differentiate them
2. Giving wings to a creature from another world would be dangerous, since it would turn her into a princess automatically.
3. Represent Twilight before being an alicorn.

It has to do with SciTwi wearing glasses

It is really about differentiating them (like Jane said above). There are two Twilight Sparkles that are important to the plot of Equestria Girls. They need to be different in order for the plot to work.
