Season 1: The Showstoppers (Worst CMC episode, not an easy feat. Boast Busters was honestly a ways better than this atrocity)

Season 2: Putting Your Hoof Down (Though Mysterious Mare-Do-Well is a close second, because of just how mean-spirited it was)

Season 3: Magical Musical Cancer (I mean Magical Mystery Cure... But it has STIFF competition from the likes of Spike at Your Service.)

Season 4: It Ain't Easy Being Breezies (Really the only outright bad episode of Season 4... But Power Ponies sucked too.)

Season 5: Princess Spike (This belongs more with the Season 3 waste dump than Season 5... It was a dumpster fire just like Season 3.)

Season 6: Cart Before the Ponies (Though 28 Pranks Later is a very close second...)

Season 7: Hard to Say Anything But It's Terrible (Flurry of Emotions is my honest second here. I HATED that episode.)

Season 8: Fake It 'Til You Give Me An Aneurysm (Worst episode of the whole show... End In Friend is probably second here..)

Season 9: 2, 4, 6 *Vomits* (Seriously, that episode was THAT bad. Going To Seed is a not all that close second.)

Wait what? why One Bad Apple and Too Many Pinkie Pies?!

One Bad Apple is just another poorly handled bully episode where “the kids are no better than the bully by getting back at them” especially given the show is really hypocritical about that.

As for Too Many Pinkie Pies I actually liked that one

Season 1: A Dog and Pony Show
Season 2: Secret of My Excess
Season 3: Spike at Your Service
Season 4: Bats!
Season 5: Princess Spike
Season 6: Spice Up Your Life
Season 7: Shadow Play (both parts)
Season 8: Non-Compete Clause
Season 9: 2, 4, 6, Greaaat

When choosing the worst of all seasons, you will hit the rock bottom of the entire show as well, and that one is specified in a larger font.

S1: Owl’s Well. Bridle Gossip’s worse, but OW’s more frustrating, especially from the Spikeabuse and Twilight’s worst appearance.

S2: Mare Do Well. No reasons needed to be given. Dragon Quest is worse, but I hate this one.

S3: The Crystal Empire. Hinging thousands of lives on a contrived “test” and emphasizing the test over their fate is some really screwy morale. (One Bad Apple’s worse.)

S4: Rainbow Fails. Every creative decision fails so epically.

S5: Princess Spike. Worst Spike appearance and worst ending/moment of the season.

S6: Newbie Dash. Dash torture porn at its worst.

S7: Fake & Misfuckton. Worst written episode of the entire series.

S8: Complete Crap Clause. Neighsay closed the school down in part due to the. Mane Eight’s lack of teaching abilities. This episode more than proves him right.

S9: 2, 4, Suuuuucks Great. Not as bad as the rest, but by Celestia, did Dash and a Twi frustrate me!

Season 1: Owl's Well That Ends Well

Season 2: MMDW or secrets of my excess or dragon quest- they are not bad but sub par

Season 3: Spike at your service- might be the worst episode of the show

Season 4: Somepony to watch over me(it was an okayish episode, it just was worse then the rest although it has strict competition with daring don't and it aint easy being breezies)

Season 5: Party pooped

Season 6: 28 pranks later(if it was in season 1 or 2 it wouldn't be that bad)

Season 7: Not asking for trouble

Season 8: Yakity sax(it sucks, might be the worst episode of the show)

S1 - The Show Stoppers (a disheartening glimpse into the type of overly safe, obvious and meandering kids' TV outing that the general public expected of FiM in its early days, with a dull plot, banal gags and the aggravating obliviousness of the CMC uplifted mostly by the hilarious climatic song sequence)

S2 - Dragon Quest (some decent gags and moments, but the creative team's decision to liken the conflicting 'pony vs. dragon' identities that Spike confronts to a gender metaphor (note how Spike shirks evidently feminine 'pony' behaviour upon recognizing his goal to discover his dragon heritage during the montage in the second act, as if the episode intends to convey Spike as 'misguidedly' attempting to discover his 'male' identity) plasters a more cringeworthy air over the episode than I suspect was intended (are we meant to view Garble and co. as exaggerated stereotypes or a relatively valid depiction of 'male identity' for some reason? Are there any aspects of 'dragon' identity which may actually benefit Spike and vica versa for a more well-rounded moral as opposed to 'girl good boy bad'? Are all dragons either jerks or negligent?)

S3 - One Bad Apple (the musical number is excellent, but ultimately watches akin to a distraction from the bland execution, nonsensical moral and dull gags)

S4 - Rainbow Falls (virtually every aspect of the episode miserably fails - wooden dialogue, illogical plotting, shoehorned and flanderized characters, empty fanservice and lame comedy)

S5 - What About Discord? (one of the few episodes of the series to be irreparably broken on a fundamental level - the entire runtime is effectively a sequence of incomplete story beats and gags without any other (actually complete or fully conveyed) elements to invest with otherwise, leading to a bizarre sense of confused distance which culminates in Discord all but admitting said 22 minutes of bewilderment (and filler, given the tedium of the second act) were a waste of the viewer's time.

S6 - 28 Pranks Later (the entirety of the first and second acts are so thinly (and lazily) scripted and plotless that they appear to be little more than a weak framing device for the asinine zombie climax. Essentially a textbook example of the inherent issues in writing an entire episode around a poorly conceived or unfitting setpiece at the expense of any surrounding story or integrating said setpiece into any kind of meaningful context)

S7 - Hard to Say Anything (a shallow, grating 'lightweight' episode which clearly expects the audience to find a surface-level burlesque of (circa 2010) Justin Bieber in 2017 and Big Mac singing in a cringeworthy manner comedy gold. Everything here exhibits a painful lack of subtlety, which is actually a major issue when writing a romantic narrative)

S8 - Fake It 'Til You Make It (the episode offers no logical explanation or buildup to Fluttershy losing herself in her various 'identities' (itself a bizarre conceit given its overly literal and exaggerated execution), almost under the assumption that the audience finds Fluttershy mirroring stereotypical goth or valley girl behaviour hilarious, only to create a bewildering mess in the process)

S9 - 2,4,6,Greeaaaatt (a sorrily cliched and poorly characterized conclusion to the main arc of one of the show's most unique and compelling cast members, with a frustratingly flanderized Celestia to boot)

  • 2 months later...

I haven't seen much past season 6, sorry to say, so I'll just go from there.

Season 1: Griffon the Brush Off - I do not dislike Gilda as a character, but this was just a not-so-good introduction for her.

Season 2: Mysterious Mare-Do-Well. Need I explain?

Season 3: Magical Mystery Cure. Not for reasons of story, characterization, or pacing, but for timing. The episode feels like a finale to a rushed, barely-there story arc that could have taken the entire season.

Season 4: Simple Ways. This one feels absolutely cliche and unfitting for MLP.

Season 5: Ooh, now this is difficult, because season 5 was an amazing one overall. But I'm going to have to say The Cutie Re-Mark for similar reasons to MMC, as well as some wasted story potential. And although I love Starlight as a character, her motivations are lacking and she gets off relatively scott-free, heel realization aside. Now I'm not saying she deserved something like being killed off, but I just wish she could have worked for redemption throughout the next season and earned becoming Twilight's student by the end.

Season 6: The Crystalling.

Why is everyone hating on Baby Cakes?!

I don’t dislike this one, and I can’t speak for Odyssey herself, but I can see a few reasons why while looking from the outside.

  1. Pinkie’s treatment in this episode, especially in the last act, can be very hard to watch.
  2. Some of the jokes didn’t land for everyone, such as Mr. Cake changing diapers with his mouth.
  3. The final act itself. The twins’ abilities to fly and use magic at such a young age when neither Scoot nor Sweetie could at the time opened questions with its continuity. Secondly, after the twins’ antics got Pinkie crying, they looked at each other and dumped flour over their heads to cheer her up. For some, this implies that they knew that what they were doing could make her so upset. I don’t quite agree with that interpretation completely; you can argue that they saw Pinkie was hurt and came up with the flour by instinct of what she did before.

DQ has echoed my thoughts here. I just am not a big fan of babysitting episodes either, the jokes are predictably repetitive and I personally just can't relate to these sort of situations

You made a post about least favourite episodes, you should expect that not everyone's going to like the things you do. Me hating it =/= everyone hates it
