As if E3 and many conventions being cancelled in light of the Coronavirus becoming a world crisis, the National Basketball Association has announced that they are going to suspend the current season

This was announced in reaction to Utah Jazz all-star center Rudy Gobert testing positive for Coronavirus just before they were about to begin play the Oklahoma City Thunder in Chesapeake Energy Arena. The infected player was not in the facility, however Thunder medical staff came onto the court to meet with the officials to report his positive testing, resulting in both teams leaving the court. They were quarantined in the locker rooms in Oklahoma City for no less than an hour

The NBA stated in the official announcement that the main purpose of the hiatus is to determine the next steps for moving forward in regard to the pandemic. There is currently no timetable for the league to resume play

To call this concerning is a massive understatement, and on the day the coronavirus is declared a pandemic. Gobert has been around a lot of people and, only two days ago, breathed on and caressed the mics while he was likely infected. This may be the final day of the entire season, playoffs included.

There are two sides of this, with a middle ground that doesn't seem to be the norm. We have the Trump side which is going for ignorance about what the virus could do and we have the media side where panic is the name of the game. Seems we're getting a healthy dose of both sides in the US.

But nobody who's being remotely rational. And me trying to suggest the not-so remote possibility the Chinese are lying warrants smearing too. Either that or it is accepted as fact the Chinese caused the epidemic when there's no proof of it.

This is an expected turn of events for any who remain in the sphere of information. While this is all precautionary, it is paramount not to engage in hysteria. The death rates of the virus are very low, and all of these actions are merely as was stated: precautionary. Be wise, do not engage in activity that would aid in the spread of the virus, but also do not panic.
