It was early evening in Manehatten and the unicorn streamer known as Stacey Ryder, was getting ready for a special multi-streamer game of Jump Force. This was a set-up by the creators of Jump Force, to help smaller streamers with less viewers stream with bigger known streamers and get their name out there. Stacey would set up her computer and stream session, complete with her favorite drnk, which happened to be monster energy drink (which she was sponsored by) and her faovrite snacks.

The sun was beginning to set in Manehattan as early evening was settling in the sky. The stars were starting to appear as the moon was slowly taking it's place amongst it's fellow stars. A unicorn gamer known as Dynamo Pad, was beginning to set up his computer for his nightly streaming sessions. He loved playing video games and streaming games was fun, but he was fairly new to the streaming community. He didn't have that many views, but it didn't matter to him that much. To the gamer pony, his dream was to become a professional video game player. He remembered seeing famous gamer's play on livestream to boost their popularity or to meet fellow streamer's. He didn't want to try and play games to be popular, but he did want to meet friends. At the same time, to further hone his skills as a gamer. He remembered being surprised when he was selected among other small online streamers. Those who were selected were going to be playing together with bigger known streamers to get their name out there. The organizers didn't exactly say who he would be paired up with, but Dynamo knew he had to get ready for the event.

He turned on his computer, until he was able to log into his streaming account. He adjusted his gaming chair so he would be comfy, before getting some beverages for the evening. He got out a can of cola, while getting a can of monster energy drink. He wasn't sure how long the gaming stream would be, but he would make sure he would have enough sugary beverages to stay up. Once he had everything ready, he went over to start up his console and the game. He was surprised that the game, Jump Force, was the game that was chosen for the event. Given that it was fairly new, he wasn't sure the game would pick up that much traction. However, Dynamo was glad that Jump Force was the chose game as he was fairly decent at said game.

As Dynamo was put into the lobby, his name would come up on the roster for the first round, and that made Stacey smile, as she had known of him and even watched some of his streams from time to time. 

The voice of the announcer would then be heard "Alright boys and girls, the lobby is full and we are ready for our first round" the announcer says and the chat filled up with the audiences preferences of pairings. "Lets see who the random chooser chooses for our pro." the announcer says as the AI would randomly scroll through the pro names and land on Stacey "And we have Ryder first up, now who will be her amateur opponent" the AI would then do the same for the amateurs and land on Dynamo "and we have it, her opponent is Kyubiki Tenchu! Let us see how this up and coming streamer fares against a pro! Round one... start!"

Once he joined the lobby of potential streamers, he looked to see who had joined alongside him. He noticed that some of the names seemed familiar or well know, but one name had caught his eye. He had noticed that the streamer, Ryder, was taking part in this event. He smiled as he remembered watching a lot of her streams whenever he had the opportunity to watch others video games online. He liked her style and choice in games, which ranged from fighting to turn-based RPG. 

Dynamo's ears perked as his focus/attention was brought back to the announcer of the stream event. The gamer pony watched as an AI randomizer had started to activate. The streamer names were shuffling on the board in rapid succession. He could only watch and wonder who's names were going to appear. As Ryder was first up, Dynamo was happy, but sad at the same time. He wished he could be picked to fight her. Given that he admired Ryder for the games she played and she was very talented. He just hoped that whoever got picked would do their best and have fun. What he didn't expect was for him name to be selected as her opponent. He almost shook with anticipation, yet nervousness as he wasn't expecting himself to be chosen. He took a few deep breaths as he tried to calm his nerves, before selecting his team. 

He smiled as he selected his team, which consisted of Yugi from Yu-Gi-Oh, Law from One Piece and Killua from Hunter x Hunter.

-Time Skip-

After about an hour, the tournament was about half way through, and unfortunately, Stacey had been knocked out of the tournament with her latest loss, so she just decided to watch the rest, while playing some games on her secondary monitor. As she played a game of StormWings, she would look up Dynamo's streaming name and sent him a message "Hey Kyu, you played really well, hope you had a good game. Ryder" she sends it and returned to her game.

-Time Skip-

After about an hour had passed, while the tournament was about half way completed. Dynamo had lost in the first round, but he couldn't get mad about that. He had recently picked up Jump Force and the game was fairly new. He picked characters that were fun to play, but they didn't have a sort of combo extension. Nor did they seem like high level characters. He always wanted to have a sort of challenge, but at the same time, he wanted to have fun at the game. Even though he had lost, he continued to watch Ryder as she was still in the tournament. Unfortunately, she had lost as the tournament was about to get to the quarter, or semi finals. He commended her for her valiant effort as she was pretty good at the game. Since the tournament was still going on, he decided to watch the matches from another screen. At the same time, he would use his main monitor to begin his own streaming. 

He turned off the PS4, before turning on the Switch to Pokemon Sword and Shield. He was a fan of fighting games, but he also liked RPG and turn based strategy. While he wasn't the best at battling, he thought that getting some feedback on stream would help. As he was about to boot up the game and find some matches, he stopped as he heard a ping from his main monitor. He looked over to see that he had received a message. Upon opening the message up, he was shocked to find that it was from Ryder. He read the message, then read it again, before reading it a third time. He honestly couldn't believe it. He wanted to reply, but he was feeling nervous. He never would have thought that Ryder would have messaged him. Not wanting to sound rude, he decided to message her back. "Hey, Ryder. It sucks that I got knocked out on the first round, but I can't complain. I'm glad you thought I played pretty well. I have a lot to learn at that game haha. You were pretty good too. I was watching and you've got a lot of skill. Thank you for the good game. Kyubiki" He sent the message and began searching for a match.

Stacey smiled as she was enjoying her game, and then she got the message. Luckily, she was able to pause her game when she checked it and smiled some more "Hey, no worries, I mean I only beat you by a tiny margin" she types "Keep at it, and who knows, maybe next tourney you'll beat me. Best of luck in the future. Ryder" she sends the message before she thought she would check Kyubuki's details, and when she saw he was also from Manehatten and gasps, quickly typing out "Hey just noticed, you're also from Manehatten, have I seen you around maybe?"

Dynamo's heart was pumping into overdrive as he was feeling nervous in the match, but he grinned as he was nervous from feeling psyched. The match was about halfway over as the battle was neck and neck between the gamer pony and his opponent. The timer to pick a move was counting down as he soon received another message. He quickly checked back to see that it was from Ryder. After quickly reading through the message, Dynamo smiled as he made a quick response. "A tiny margin can basically make or break a match. I'm just glad I'm not some of the streamer's I've seen who break their controllers or equipment. It looks funny at first, but then you have to feel sorry for the monitor or keyboard." He types "Thanks and you never know. I might just be the champion next time. Best of luck in the future to all of your endeavors too. Kyubiki." After sending the message, he looked back to see that he had only a few seconds left to make a move. He picked one move for one Pokemon, but he heard that another message was received.

Upon looking back at the monitor, his jaw dropped as he saw that the timer had expired. Whatever move he didn't choose for his second Pokemon was automatically locked in. His eyes widened as he felt his heart rate increase. It was at that moment, he felt that he had lost the match right then and there. Thankfully, his opponent had either lost time in writing a response, or they got knocked out before the gamer pony lost a Pokemon. Seeing the victory title appear on his screen, Dynamo soon sighed as he took the time to read the other message. "You'd be right on that. I'm originally from Fillydelphia, but I moved to Manehatten quite a while ago. I think we might have met sometime? Maybe perhaps we met at an arcade or maybe while at a shopping center. Also, you sent me a message at a wrong time. I almost lost in my ranked match. You owe me a match. Just kidding lol ."

Stacey sighed as she would close her gaming laptop and looked to the stream, she was hoping for the win of the tournament, she could have used the winning money to go on vacation. She was about to turn her computer off when she got the message from Dynamo and smiled a little, reading it. She would reply "Hey, sorry I nearly cost you your match, hope you still won though" she'd giggle a little "and I see, I've been in Manehatten most of my life, can't really remember being elsewhere unless for holiday...and yeah may have seen each other at the arcade as i like to go there to relax" She'd lean back a bit and close her eyes "And you're right, those streamers are kind of..annoying to be honest. They break their stuff then beg their audience to pay for a new one..it's ridiculous. It's why I have a punching bag, if I get worked up, I work out" she smiles some more "If you're free tomorrow, how about we meet at the arcade, trade strategies?"

Dynamo had taken a bit of a break to answer one to two questions that would show up in chat from time to time. He wasn't the best when it came to describing something from Pokemon, but he was learning as he was playing. As he turned off his stream for the evening, he looked over to see that Ryder had responded. He smiled as he began reading, before responding. "Hey, it's okay. I managed to win somehow as the opponent had a brain fart." He chuckled with a sigh. "I don't really travel for holidays unless it's back home, or if I'm going to conventions and such. Can't go wrong with going to an arcade to relax and unwind. I admit that those streamers are a bit annoying, but you have to admit that you can't help in laughing at times. I do remember some streamers who beg their audience for help on certain things. It's ridiculous from time to time. If I ever had a freakout, I would either scream off camera or just take a deep breath to stay calm." He adjusted the back of his chair as he grabbed his wireless keyboard to continue typing, while it sat on his lap. "Working out sounds like a good idea. A better way to deal with stress or being worked up when losing a game or feeling frustrated. I should be free tomorrow. I'd like to meet up, if that's okay, that is. I guess it depends on the arcade in question. Given that there are a couple of arcades all around Manehatten." He smiled as he sent his message.

Stacey would smile and type out "Yeah they can be funny to watch sometimes, but more often than not, I just don't watch those streamers" she'd type "how bout we meet up at the largest one in the central shopping centre? I've been meaning to go to the games store there, I also need to pick up a few parcels at the post office there as well." she'd send it and begin to get ready to go to sleep, waiting for confirmation from Dynamo before falling asleep.

As Dynamo was turning off his gaming consoles and computer for bed, the gamer pony was met by another message from Ryder. "I don't blame you as I don't really watch them either. They kind of just make you cringe at times." Upon reading the idea of meeting up, Dynamo contemplated on the idea, before responding. "Okay and that sounds perfect. I know where that shopping mall is and it isn't that far from where I live. We can pick up games and maybe look around to see if they have stuff to do, or to buy. We can stop by the post office along the way. What time did you want to meet up? Maybe around 11 or a little bit after lunch?" He'd send the message and waited patiently for a response. He hoped he wouldn't fall asleep in his chair when waiting for a message.

Stacey would get her message and nod "Yeah 11 sounds good to me, hey, I'm about to hit the bed right now. Here's my number so that we can keep in touch offline" she'd say, sending the message with her number "can't wait to meet you tomorrow, sleep well. Oh and I'll be wearing a white and pink/purple hoodie and ripped jeans, likely"

As the blue unicorn felt his eyes becoming heavy, he blinked as he heard a ping from his computer. He rubbed his eyes frantically to see that he had received a message from Ryder. Smiling, he read through her message, before he began to make a reply. "Okay and I'm about to head off for bed myself. Wouldn't want to oversleep and miss our meetup tomorrow haha. Thanks and here's my number too. Let's meet up at the entrance to the shopping mall center. I'll text you when I'm near the mall." He'd say, adding his phone number to the message, while at the same time, adding her number into his cell phone. "I look forward to meeting you tomorrow too. Have a nice rest. Thanks for the heads up. I'll be wearing a blue shirt, a black jacket with a gold and silver design and black jeans. Goodnight and see you tomorrow, Ryder." Once he sent the message, he turned off his computer, before headed over towards his water bed. He climbed underneath the covers and blanket as he soon fell asleep.

Stacey smiled and got the message, adding Dynamo's number to her phone, closing her laptop and texting him "Night Kyu, sleep well and can't wait to meet you tomorrow" she would text him, signing off with her name before putting her laptop on the table next to her bed and laying on her back. She used to sleep on her side, but she started having some back issues and saw a sleep specialist as well as a chiropractor and found out, it was because of her sleeping position, so she switched to sleeping on her back. She would close her eyes and swiftly fall asleep to the white noise she had put on on her phone to play.

- Some hours later-

Stacey would wake up to the alarm that she had set on her phone. After stretching for a bit, she would go to take a shower, put on the outfit she had chosen for the day, eat a small breakfast and played a few games until it was time for her to make her way to the shopping centre. 

She made her way there and arrived about ten minutes early.

Dynamo's ears perked as he heard his phone going off. Making sure that everything was okay, he slowly opened his eyes, before levitating the phone over towards him. He smiled softly as he read through the message. "Thanks for the message, Ryder. I can't wait to see you tomorrow too. Goodnight and talk to you soon." After sending the text, he levitated his phone back over towards the computer desk. Laying his head back on his pillow and sleeping on his side, the gamer pony closed his eyes and allowed himself to sleep once more.

-Some hours later- 

Dynamo's eyes would open as he heard his alarm go off. While he wasn't a morning pony by any means, he still had a tendency of waking up early. He rubbed the sleep out of his eyes as he stretched, before realizing that he was going to be meeting up with Ryder today. With a smile forming upon his face, he quickly got out of bed to get ready for the day. He showered, got dressed in the outfit he had mentioned the night before, and had a light breakfast. He watched a few funny videos and anime on his computer, before it was time to meet up at the shopping center. Grabbing his phone, wallet and keys, the blue unicorn made his way out of the house. Making sure to lock up the place, before hopping into his car. It was a bit of a drive, but it wouldn't take him long, before reaching his destination. He left a couple of minutes early, as well. That way, he wouldn't be late in meeting up with Ryder. After a couple minutes had passed, Dynamo soon reached the shopping center as he tried to find a place to park. After finding his usual parking space, he turned off the car, exited and started making his way towards the center entrance. Scanning the area, Dynamo soon took notice of a unicorn mare with the jacket description he was given the night before. "H-Hey, Ryder?" He called out to her to make sure that it was her. He also had a hand up to wave to let Ryder know that it was him.

Stacey waited a bit more and decided to give Dynamo a little bit more time, after all, traffic was pretty much murder in the morning. But it wasn't long until she saw him approaching her and waves to him, "Hey there Kyu" she'd say with a smile "Oh and you can call me Stacey, I just go by Ryder or well my last name on stream" she'd say, "It kind of helps so that people don't try to dox me" she'd say with a bit of a shudder, then she blushes as she hears her stomach growl "Hmm, guess that little breakfast I had wasn't quite enough to satisfy my hunger, wanna go grab something to eat?"

Dynamo smiled as he saw Stacey waving to him and replying to his earlier question. "Hey. I'm sorry if I'm late. I think I made it on time, but traffic was a bit bad. I want to say it's surprising, but I guess everyone wants to be out on a Saturday." He chuckled, before nodding in understanding. "Okay and thanks for letting me know. Since we are on the basis of names, then you can call me Dynamo. That, or I guess Kyu is fine. I'm not really well known, but I guess that could sort of be seen as a nickname." He pondered, before smiling softly as he too heard her stomach growl. "I'm down for getting something to eat. I had a light breakfast in case we stopped to get some food. I think the food court is pretty close, while it's just up on the second floor of the shopping center." He would say, moving over towards the entrance as he held the door open for Stacey. "After you, m'lady."

She would chuckle "It's alright, I'm an early riser, so I got her before traffic got too bad" she'd say, chuckling some more and nodding, walking through the door "Thank you and I also had a light breakfast" she smiles over at him "And you'e right, it is up on the second level, which is a convenience for me, I think the game store is also on the second level" she'd say, looking around ""as is the pop culture store as well"

"Wait a minute. You're someone who gets up early too? Here I thought I was the only one who's an early riser. Although, I'm cursed to be a morning pony as I never seem to get any extra sleep." He would chuckle as Stacey walked through the door, before following after her. "You're welcome and it seems we had the same idea. Are you sure you didn't read my mind when we were streaming last night?" He chuckled some more, before smiling. "I'm guessing when you say convenient and mentioning the pop culture store, then that means that's the place that you were needing to visit? I think that would be a cool place to visit in the mall. I do remember the arcade is on the lower level, while I remember the game store is near the food court. So, I suppose it's all about a personal preference on where we start first."

She would nod "I'm just used to rising early when I had a job that required me to do so" she would say "As for the light breakfast, it is possible" she chuckles as she walks with him to the escalators and nods "I could probably hold breakfast off for a bit longer" she smiles "It's not like I'm starving, just hungry" she says, then nods "I've got a few orders to pick up, and I also wanted to check out that new fighting game, you know, it's Tekken but with Pokemon"

"Oh, I know that feeling, or I guess I can relate to that. My first few early jobs were mostly having me be up super early in the morning. Granted, I was only up that early so I didn't fall back asleep and then I become late for work. Even so, it changed when I started working at the arcade. It was still a little early, but it wasn't too bad. I mostly travel to different competitions, while streaming." Dynamo would explain with a nod. "I suppose it is possible when you put it that way. I'm still good on holding off some lunch, but just let me know if you're getting hungry. We're not on a schedule so our plans can go out of order." He chuckled as he walked with Stacey towards the elevators. "Hmm...I'm almost tempted to try and down the up escalators. I never had the opportunity, but then I wouldn't want to run into any trouble with security. Still, one can only dream." He chuckled once more, before his eyes widened at the mention towards the fighting game. "We can definitely finish picking up the orders. Where do we need to go exactly? Maybe we can check out some other stores in the mall like Hot Topic and such. Also, I know which game you're talking about. The names sound a bit similar, but it's the game Pokken Tournament! I've played that game a few times here and there. The graphics look very polished and the gameplay is handled pretty well."

"Pokken! That's the name, yeah, I really like it too. I hear they're going to start having sanctioned tournaments soon, so I wanna get some practice in." She states with a smile "So we're going to the Game shop then to the pop culture shop"

"It seems like you have a good taste in video games. I think I heard something about the mention of tournaments starting soon, but I wasn't truly sure. I honestly thought it was a rumor." Dynamo mentioned, before smiling. "Okay and I'm up for practicing the game. Who knows? Maybe it'll spark my interest in picking up the game and practicing for tournaments too. Although, I do like fighting games and I do like strategy games like Pokemon. I've been working on building up a team for online ranked and VGC." He says, before blinking in confusion. "Wouldn't it be better to go to the pop culture shop first and then the game shop? If not, then I'm guessing whatever is at the pop culture shop is very important. Maybe it's something that's valuable and shouldn't be damaged?"

Stacey smiles and nods "Well it's more along the lines of, I may need to duck back to the car to put what I'm picking up away, as they may be a bit hard to carry" she would say, "And you are right, I love the Pokemon games too, in fact, I'm picking up Sword and Shield today" she says "I know it's been out for a while, but I really wanted to complete the previous generations first" she smiles, swaying her tail a little as they walked "I'm actually picking up a few figures and statuettes from the pop culture store, as well as some clothing" she'd say.
