Jeric 45,367 Share February 20 Before we receive Site Questions and Feedback Posts I want to get this published. As we continue to mitigate the various attacks on the site, we are not slowing down changes that will, hopefully, have a hoof in improving the quality of the post content. Status updates, topics, blogs, and replies should not be made to farm reputation points. Too often we have seen races to 'win the day'. While that dopamine rush is fun for some, it is temporary and pushes you to continue to farm and grind. This site was created with a expectation of general quality, a quality that all here are capable of reaching. Post quality isn't about length. However, fun topics, inspiring topics, witty replies, and a well crafted argument, all serve to organically earn someone 'likes' here. Begging for them, getting upset when others pass you, or accusing some for 'blocking you' is not why MLPForums was created. Effective now, the Days Won Counter has been hidden as has the Leaderboard. We want to find a better quality driven way to reward users who put a great amount of effort and add to the fun of MLPF, and after several years of these ... "tools" .... they were not working. Some will absolutely hate this. Elitism is a bad thing when measured through likes and quick posts. 17 2 1
 Badges
Sparklefan1234 123,836 Share February 20 Thank You! I worry WAY too much about my "count" and stuff. 3
 Badges
Pandora 32,383 Share February 20 That’s great tbh because it avoids conflict and confusion, maybe make some badges like “good user” or something for people as a reward instead @Jeric that is like one you can get only once and therefor permanent or something
 Badges
Jesse Terrence 2,159 Share February 20 (edited) The win the day feature should probably be completely removed, imo. Few forums actually use such features, being this one of the very few ones I've seen doing so. Doesn't help the day is usually disputed between the same handful of users. But that leaves us with the reputation anyway. What purpose can it serve if the idea is to get rid of dumb competence and backseat moderating? Reputation still does nothing but serve as part of a shapeless competence. That brings me to an idea we had in a dead spanish brony forum I worked at back in 2013. Counters of the like should have a function. We used them as currency. You could trade things like those for temporal custom titles and so in that forum. Something that incentivates activity, yet doesn't end up in a competence. Just my two cents. Edited February 20 by Jesse Terrence
 Badges
Rikifive 18,034 Share February 20 Sadly that is true, it became a popularity contest, that more and more users were caring about as the time went. Content quality aside, sure it might be fun for few users who win, but it was leaving everyone else behind, making them feel disliked, which wasn't even the case. I recall some nice users mentioning, that they feel bad for never winning a day or something.. Brohooves are meaningless anyway, given the available cheesy ways to farm these, no one should feel bad for having less / not winning a day. That was making the feature generate more harm than fun in my view. I didn't care personally, but I never liked the idea of having such leaderboards, or even worse, "winning" a day for spamming the most , so I like that change. No more Friendship Racing™. disclaimer: I'm not criticizing anyone!
 Badges
Califorum 14,679 Share February 20 About time the leaderboard is gone. Even though I sometimes strived for it. Glad its gone now. One of the...few decisions I like recently.
 Badges
C. Thunder Dash 5,460 Share February 20 Sheesh, I'm glad this is hidden...
 Badges
Ganondorf8 9,859 Share February 20 The 'Days Won' thing was something I never really paid much attention to. In fact, I still don't know how I managed to get the one that I got sometime in 2017. The Leaderboard is also something I had no interest in as I'm not a competitive person. So both of these being hidden is perfectly fine with me.
 Badges

Curiously it now is a meaningless number because in 2017 we introduced reactions and most of them are neutral effect of the rep number so it was effectively diluted. The currency option you mentioned used to be a plug-in. It might be worth investigating
 Badges

SharpWit 2,037 Share February 20 Never really understood it since that kind of behavior was all it would have ever encouraged where as the other site features recently being rid of, changed or added have at least some grey area to them.
 Badges
Deae Rising Shine~ 41,243 Share February 20 I never really cared too much into that, for me it simply means several stats less for my monthly stat blog to check, that are now useless to continue, oh well. Guess means a few minutes less of work from now on.
 Badges
TomDaBombMLP 17,831 Share February 20 I'm definitely going to miss that feature. It was always fun to check the ranks and see what posts were getting brohoofs. To be honest, it was quite silly the way that people asked for brohoofs like this was some run-of-the-mill YouTube channel when it's so much more than that. I know exactly who they are as well. While I will definitely miss it, I can totally understand why it's been removed.
 Badges
Midnight Danny 6,180 Share February 20 Well, I know I will gonna miss this feature but it is a good reason.
 Badges
Goat-kun 2,178 Share February 20 But watching people fuss over such trivial matters is the spice of life! How am I supposed to feel better about myself now?!
 Badges
Blitzo 1,221 Share February 20 I was never fond of the whole “winning the day” thing so I’m glad to see it gone.
 Badges
EpicEnergy 18,328 Share February 20 I never really cared about that system anyways. I'm here for talking with friends and having a good time, not to get involved in a competition against others to win the day or be on the top of the leaderboards. 1
 Badges

By watching them playing they're cool about it, or they even support it with cheers and claps. You could also enjoy watching how suddenly the status updates drop dramatically or the forum activity raises as sort of a popularity resource.
 Badges
LyraLover 24,765 Share February 21 I can't say I'm going to miss it that much. It was fun sometimes, but it was overall kind of pointless.
 Badges

Yeah, it's always good to see wojak masks at work, even though it's a transient pleasure. But I do not know how I feel about the prospect of seeing "OnlyFoals" thread wars on the actual forums since I don't want to lose further posting liberties and witness the era of mass user blocks just cause some people can't handle opposition.
 Badges
