MLP G5 Movie (2021) Screenshot and Plot Revealed!

Entertainment Tonight has revealed the plot and details about the movie, as well as a screenshot showing what the CGI animation will look like!

The studio has also greenlit a new animated series for Netflix, which will take place after the upcoming movie and will focus on Sunny Starscout and her friends.

In the new movie, the pony world of Equestria has lost its magic. Friendship and Harmony have been replaced by paranoia and mistrust, and Ponies now live separated by species. Sunny -- a feisty and idealistic young Earth Pony -- is convinced there’s still hope for this divided world, but her slightly misguided and often hilarious efforts to change hearts and minds have led to her being branded a misfit.

When Sunny befriends a lost Unicorn named Izzy, who wanders innocently into the Earth Pony town of Maretime Bay, the town has had enough. Izzy and Sunny must embark on an epic adventure that will include a daring jewel heist, outrageous conspiracy theories, elaborate musical numbers, and the world’s cutest flying Pomeranian. Their adventures will take them to faraway lands and force them to challenge the status quo by facing their fears and making new friends out of old enemies. The world Sunny has dreamed of her entire life could finally become a reality as Sunny and her newfound friends fight to prove that even little ponies can make a big difference.

I mean, sounds better than what I expected... but the after fim thing is a total wrong. This plot could have worked way better as a reboot.

It's definitely...different? I'm not sure I like the CGI lol

I can't help but notice she looks like a blank flank in the full screenshot, wonder if that'll play a part in the film. Also kinda disappointed in the whole 'Equestria becoming divided' thing, but it's what I expected. Sort of makes the accomplishments of the last generation seem pointless, unless this takes place waaaaay after that, but I can see mane 6 figurines, so it can't be that long after.

The synopsis almost... breaks my heart a little.

Especially since we know how positive things turn out in G4.

They're going down a route they did in Chrono Trigger. that I'm dreading somewhat... In the sequel, the celebrations of the kingdom from the end of the first game are turned on their heads, and said kingdom gets conquered. The tone goes very south.

I'm almost wondering if this is supposed to be the exact same Equestria or just a different sort of continuity.

Oh god the CGI is utterly crap! Thats...really bad. As for the plot, it sounds interesting.

As I'm mulling this, this honestly feels like it's supposed to be a different continuity. Like the name Equestria is the same, but it's, a rebooted different sort of form that's its own take. Like there would be with different Pinkie Pies and Applejacks and Rainbow Dashes between different generations. There's even a different Ponyville in G3.
It honestly doesn't feel right to believe this is supposed to be the exact same.

...I'm sorry if I'm harping on this. Even if the movie turns out to be fine, this aspect just makes me feel... uneasy.

I feel like it is a new timeline. It is not going to be the same. I hope they have a new timeline, or do a better rehash of old characters. I don't like the CGI or style of this but it might grow on me. It will be interesting to see where the G4 characters are.

Eehhh, I like how detailed the background is, the character model could be better though I'm not totally in love with it  Don't really like that movie plot either, it just doesn't seem realistic for Equestria, especially considering how G4 ended and how Equestria always was all throughout the show- being a tolerant magical paradise. That's kind of what I was afraid of, that they would make Equestria into someplace that it would never realistically be

We don't know the backstory of this plot. Its interesting, but I want to know more.

Yeah same.     Plot kinda ruins Equestria for me...  How great it was was part of the reason I liked G4.  We'll see how it goes I guess.

On a slightly more serious note, I actually think the CG style looks great! There's clearly a lot of detail and care in the background, and while I haven't seen it in motion, it looks nice and cosy. The plot is interesting too, I'm hyped!

I think the story looks OK, but I don't like the character style. Looks like a plastic figure (maybe that was the intention), but still, it looks bad to me.

I hope they explain what went wrong since the end of G4 (I guess Celestia was wrong about Twilight taking over, which means I was right).

The CG looks really good. It’s clean and very detailed. This movie is going to look fantastic, I can already tell.

However, I never thought that MLP should be made in 3D.. In my opinion, it should stay in 2D.

Don’t like very much how she looks. Maybe it’s the 3D. It’s kinda bad, but not terrible. At least she looks far less uncanny valley, unlike the fabric we saw earlier, as did FIM with early merch artwork

No intention to diss the movie with barely any information out, but I just keep dwelling on if this is supposed to be the exact same Equestria or its own alternate generation thing, just with G4 easter eggs like the figures in the background. Or that they're stories or whatever. Cause this is just the one point I can't shake, and it really would affect any enjoyment I would get out of this. If this is completely 100% confirmed to be true that it's explicitly supposed to be the future of the same setting, it honestly makes me feel sad.

If that's really the case though... then I'm honestly prepared to stay in the Equestria I know and love; I would be perfectly happy to stay in this time period in this place I've become so invested in in many ways. It's too precious to me. And with the guys and girls that have known for years.

I'm surely going to watch it regardless, but honestly, my heart belongs in the Equestria of now.

I'm happy enjoying the present, and I'm in no hurry.

I don't know what to say about this one.  I mean, maybe I could get used to that design but the premise really bugs me with the fact that Friendship has been forgotten about.  Doesn't that kind of defeat the entire purpose of FiM? 

The Mane Six references strewn about the room make me really happy at least.  The models of them, Rainbow Dash's cute mark on the wall, Twilight's cutie mark on Sunny's bag, those and Fluttershy's on pins, even Celestia's sun butt on the wall. 

It's weird that Sunny looks very similar to Scootaloo and is also a blank flank. Anypony else seeing that? I think we'll get to like these characters when we see more of them but I hope to Celestia that they don't give them modern technology and throw in trendy and hip messages!
