When Cletus was born from a psychiatry hospital, his heart stopped beating for a few minutes. Then Cletus was revived by Knull to be the one to free him from Klyntar. As a result, Cletus showed psychopathic and sadistic traits: he was completely unemotional and remorseless individual who took great pleasure in killing his own mother's pet and grandmother, and even tried to kill his mother that encites the tense argument that led to his mother's death and his father's incarceration. The said negative traits escalated to more catastrophic scale over time during his stay in St. Estes Home for Boys, as abuse that Cletus received further made him even more evil that he acquired philosophy that life was essentially meaningless and futile, that "laws are only words", and came to see the spreading of chaos through random, unpatterned bloodshed as "the ultimate freedom".

When becoming Carnage, his sadism and depravity proved to be one of his greatest assets: his symbiote, which spawned from Venom's by the time it freed Brock from the prison, would feed on his hatred and rage over the world as fuel to enhanced its powers. Not just sadistic and cruel, Kasady also become a completely treacherous, horrifying, and depraved supervillain who proved to be an extremely despicable and dangerous advesary for both his worst enemies, Spider-Man and Venom.

Cletus Kasady is schizophrenic, enabling him to activate extra-terrestrial episodes of paranoia and delusion to transform into the demonic alien symbiote of Carnage. The symbiote has a considerably stronger bond with Kasady than its father has with its hosts. This is indicated by the fact that Kasady has predominantly used the term "I", as opposed to his father's use of "we". However, even though the bond between host and symbiote is strong, it has left Kasady several times to find more powerful hosts.

It has bounded with John Jameson, Ben Reily (at the time referred to as Spider-Carnage) and the Silver Surfer (forming The Carnage Cosmic) but it always ended up back on Kasady is if it were his familiar. Eventually it and Kasady met their end while escaping "The Raft", a prison for super powered people. He was ripped apart by Sentry in outer space. The symbiote survived by becoming dormant and returned to Earth, but was found by Michael Hall, who used the symbiote to create prosthesis and super-guards. The Doppelganger and Shriek return, hoping to repair the symbiote.

n his true form, King Sombra is a demonic unicorn with a gray coat, red eyes with dragon-slits, a flowing black mane and tail, a red curved horn and sharp teeth. His attire consists of metal armor, a red royal mantle and a grey helm with two curved spikes on each side, a tiny cylinder on the front between two red spikes and three black parts that cover his muzzle and sides of his face. By Season 9, the grey lines on the muzzle part of the helm are gone.

At some points, his irises become green with purple smoke coming out, and when forcing anypony to see their worst fears, his eyes turn completely green with the pupils disappearing for a moment.

In shadow form, Sombra appears as a shadowy mass with only his eyes visible. Later, he shows off his muzzle, two fangs and his horn.

Personality

Compared to other villains on the show, King Sombra's personality is not too elaborated on. Instead, he is little more than a dark and looming menace for most of the episode. He has very few speaking lines, some of them are partially incoherent, and is a very mysterious character, whose backstory is limited to the fact that he enslaved the crystal ponies. The source of his dark powers and his motivations remain an enigma. However, he is shown to be extremely cruel, fierce, brutal, sadistic, heartless, destructive, merciless, and wicked, viewing crystal ponies as nothing more than his slaves, using fear on them and other characters, and licking his lips as the prospect of possibly killing Spike (although he may have primarily been after the Crystal Heart).

He is also shown to be tyrannical, manipulative, and power-hungry. In his altered future, he tried to take over the rest of Equestria once retaking the Crystal Empire, becoming a dark age of war and conquest. He is believed to be one of the most evil and darkest villains in the show.

Sombra appears to be intelligent and cunning, as he seemingly thought ahead of his enemies and placed a curse upon the empire to disappear if he gets defeated, and cleverly booby-trapped the path to the Crystal Heart. Twilight fell for every one of his traps, more than one of which would have defeated Twilight Sparkle if not for Spike. After his return, recognizing that the Elements of Harmony could threaten him, he made a plan to pretend to be vanquished to secretly follow them to the Tree of Harmony and successfully destroy it and the Elements. Despite his intellect he was extremely arrogant, making him stupid enough to think he can defeat the Mane 6 on his own which led to Twilight and her friends outsmarting him back with the magic of friendship with no elements when it shows they don't need them anymore much to Sombra's shock.

After his resurrection, he is shown to be pompous and dangerously overconfident, foolish enough to deny working with the evil alliance formed by Discord in the form of the ancient Grogar, in favor of taking Equestria for himself and ignoring his warnings about working together, which ultimately proved to be his downfall.

Examples of this inflated ego, include leaving the Mane Six trapped in his crystal cage instead of brainwashing them, because he wanted them to watch him conquer Ponyville, immediately assuming the princesses are afraid to face him when he finds the throne room empty in Canterlot Castle when really they were otherwise engaged, and quickly boasting that he is the most powerful creature in Equestria when striking down Discord (who was really faking it), ignoring the fact it was just a lucky shot because Discord was protecting Fluttershy

I don't think Carnage has any real defence against magic. If any of Sombra's spell are fire based, Carnage is screwed because that's one of the symbiotes' biggest weaknesses.

Extreme Heat: Carnage's symbiote, like Venom's, was weak against extreme heat, but not as much as the latter: When Spider-Man electrocuted him on the electrified trail, Carnage was briefly weakened by the burns, but it's also angered him as he retaliates by slamming them against the wall.

Loud Vibrations: With loud vibrations on the other hand, Carnage was proved to be worse than Venom. For example, Vibranium is effective to the symbiote separating from its host.

Kasady's Insanity: While insanity is what empowered him as Carnage, Kasady's madness turned out to be his own weakness at the same time. His mental pathologies can also be exploited (if done properly), allowing people to manipulate his actions and even defeating him.

well it would angered Carnage See the source image and would attack Sombra
