YouTube seriously needs to work on their comment system a lot more

Well considering they are worried about the dislike button, I could see them getting rid of the comments too

Spoiler

(Half sarcastic reply)

In seriousness, could it be their anti spam malfunctioning?

They already have. Try leaving a comment on any Spongebob video or first party music upload.

I feel like this glitch has been around for a long time. Or at least I remember seeing such a thing happening years ago with some of my posts. Weirdly enough, I could sometimes see the post there if I was logged out.

That would probably be the "protecting kids" protocol. That pretty much got forced on youtube by privacy concerns involving collecting data on children, and quickly spread to a weird attempt to prevent children from posting personal information on the internet because youtube was apparently being frequented by pedos. The extremely broad solution to this problem (age requirements for sign-in was inadequate because so many kids use the accounts of their parents) was to remove the comment section from any video targeted at children. If you're wondering why your favorite Brony video disappeared last year, this law was likely the culprit. While it's still legal to post Brony videos and say they're NOT targeted at children, you have to still be active to flag your videos as such, because in the absence of that, youtube's algorithm went around trying to identify child-targeted videos and automatically flagged them as such; with occasional hilarious results (such as Rainbow Factory/Pegasus Device :ButtercupLaugh:).

Youtube? The platform that recently removed the dislike button because of utterly moronic decisions on an administrative level?

It seems like the comments are not sorted correctly, and there is no way to get the comments to behave in a user friendly way. So yes, YouTube needs to do something! However, they seem to depend of features getting completely removed. Don't they have resources to deal with these problems?

They are a multi-billion platform owned by Google. They should arguably have no issues with resources to handle how comments are handled. Other platforms can do it just fine, including having "threads" for comments.
