Private IC: The Frozen North (1x1 with Blitz Boom)

Recommended Posts

(OOC:

Magloria could tell that she was being followed although they were no real indications as to who it was at the moment. The lone mare wandered through the frozen north, keeping her eyes and ears peeled for anything unusual. She was nearing her cave. However anyone watching Magloria would notice that she was dragging something...or someone. There was a crystal pony mare trapped in what seemed to be a crystal of some kind. It's blue glowing hue was seen shining across the winter snow. The poor mare was trapped in a state of stasis, she wasn't in any pain but she was restrained all the same. Taken away from her loving family.

It was an easy hunt so to speak. All Magloria had to do was visit the nearby Crystal Empire and find a lone unsuspecting soul. Easy said than done though, as she could feel that she was being followed. With haste, she would reach the entrance of her cave and dragged the mare along the ground. The cave itself was expansive and she had worked on it for several years in order to give it what it really needed to be livable for her line of 'work' as it were. With a vile smirk across her face she proceeded into the cave.

Instinctively, blue flames lit up on her entry and lit up a large hallway with various steel doors in place. Some of the the things here she had built for her in the past. The hallway was very eerie to say the least with the blue mist flowing out from under the doors almost organically. With a hoof raised a large door at the end of the hall would silently open. The room that was revealed was circular shaped and with many levels. There were at least a few dozen ponies of all various races, from various locations about the world. The mare she dragged was placed into an open spot and Magloria connected a series of crystals to the mare's crystal encasement. Her hoof was placed over the mare and Magloria's mane and tail glowed blue. The blue glow was transferred into the mare's trapped form, completing the process.

"Oh, you are going to love it here along with all of your friends." she spoke soothingly, her grin turning to a calm grin. She was so far removed from the process she had done many times before. It was very interesting to feel a new stream of magic flow into her. Her mane and tail pulsed blue in an organic fashion, she was already sensing the mare's magic.

Walking out of the room, the large door closed itself as she proceeded outward. There was still a nagging feeling of something not being right. She had not yet felt this before that was to be sure. Upon heading outside of the entrance to her cave she would look up at the cloudless blue sky that shone over the otherwise frozen and desolate landscape. Of course, her body was used to this.

However out of nowhere she spotted someone else standing there right besides her. Her horn began to glow blue.

Ice and snow, as far as the eye could see. Not a hint of civilisation anywhere. Just trees standing with their white cover, as the snow drizzled from above.

A lone rabbit would jump through the piled of freshly fallen snow. It's white fur, blending in with the snow, as it rummaged through to dig out what greens there were to be found, to bring home to its kin. Even in the north of Equestria, where the snow never truly melted, nature found a way. The plants, the animals, and even the ponies who lived here, hardier than those who rummaged around in the rest of the country.

There were a natural beauty in it all, and a simplicity that were enticing to many. Yet the constant, freezing temperatures, made this a hard place to live, for all but those who were born here, or whom had the fire within, to withstand the cold from outside.

A lone pony wandered through these frozen dunes, who were neither. Though intrigued by the untouched beauty it presented itself as, the stallion that wandered through the forest, and now feasted his eyes upon the mountain, felt not that serenity, or drive that most here did. He felt relief, as the sight of his goal came into view.

"Finally, our long trip are soon over. There be but her left, and soon, she shall sing us a song this desolate land will end up keeping to itself."

1609022968221.thumb.jpg.f74d776aec4752e42feb72d77344631f.jpg

Operata Symphonia let out a sigh, which presented itself in a small, pale cloud from his mouth, and then moved on.

He did not come from such frozen regions. His life had been primarily spent in the east of Equestria, where there were hot springs to be found. Here there were no such thing Or at least not in the regions he had been sent to. Much to his own dismay, as he could have used that. Even the heavy coat and boots he wore, did not stop the cold from seeping in entirely, and his trek through this place had been long enough as it were. Adding to it, his coat could not be closed entirely, so the cold bit him with every puff of wind headed his way.

Some shuffling came from inside the coat, where two bundles shifted their weight around, and poked their heads out of the coat. One dark, and one lime green, whom both looked around with curious eyes.

"Soon girls, your time will come. And then we can leave this frozen wasteland behind us for good."

Had he a say in this, he would have never come here, and openly said he'd want someone else to go. Yet the consortium were insistent. Likely due to recent... Events, which made them want to teach him a lesson. And what a lesson it were, to be sent to the frozen north, based on little more than rumor and speculation, rather than solid evidence. *sigh* Seemed like he should chose his words more carefully another time, and think before acting, lest he got sent on these excursions more frequently.

Had they only his willingness to work with, as with most of the others, he could have simply wandered away. Alas, his arrangement required him to be more or less bound to this duty, and they were the ones who decided what said duty were. He sure had an option as such, but the alternative to this, were less preferential. Even if he were brought to a place not suitable for him, nor his precious little darlings.

But the sooner they were done, the sooner they could come home. They simply needed to catch the local menace first, and lo and behold, after a week, he had managed to find a trail. And not in a way that made him think bear attacks, as first anticipated. Something more magical in nature were going on, and he looked forward to have it solved. This place were treacherous, and he'd prefer to enjoy its beauty from afar. Via pictures, whilst he lounged at a spa, ideally.

How he longed for a treatment... It always made him feel calm, and the salves they had were so good for his old wounds.

*sigh* Best get this over with quickly, so that they could leave. He missed civilisation.

With that thought, he'd follow the trail once more, headed towards the unknown kidnapping menace, of the Pine Tundra.

Whatever she saw up there, it weren't him. He were still ten minutes behind her trail, and would need to find entry. Yet it may well be there another had come before him, who wished to try their luck. The call for adventurers to deal with this threat, were not new. It had been there for months, and he doubted he were the first one to come. Though others likely went for the bounty, or the call for glory. Him? He did so to fulfill an order, so he could return to hear the screams of fear and terror he so craved, in better regions than this.

Upon closer inspection and after a few seconds of realization it was just a Polar Bear. False alarm it seemed - and besides she wasn't in the business of hunting animals anyways so her guard would lower somewhat. With a bright blue flash of her horn, an icey path would illuminate down the hill. The Polar Bear would roar at her and attempt to swipe at her with its claws but by the time it had swiped, Magloria had already slid far out of its reach and down the hill.

The icey blue mare had sped down the hill and did some sort of flip in the air just for the sake of it. If anyone were watching it she would clearly have been rather skilled with her agility, combining it with sending some waves of her magic out at the ground to make her flip a bit more impressive. The Polar Bear up the hill had lost its intended catch and roared in defeat before hobbling away. Magloria didn't really care. It was out of her hair anyways and thus of little to no concern.

Remembering what had happened prior with the mare that she had just abducted she realized it would be a good idea to test out her new combined magic. Standing there, she'd focus a bit on her horn and her mane as well as her tail would glow blue and pulse with an array of colors that'd dance up her horn much like a flickering flame. With a vile smirk she'd fire a blast of magic at the ground ahead and it'd warp and change into a large obstacle course. It was an exact replica of one of the ones she had learned from the training academy years ago after she had left her hometown to find something to do with her life.

With a sudden burst of energy, she'd move forward and charge into the obstacle course. Weaving through the various hurtles and obstacles easily. While she made it through rather quickly for all intense and purposes without a single scratch she wasn't satisfied. Magloria would charge through the obstacle course, the magic she had stole running through her in a euphoric manner. After about five whole times of running through it she was satisfied for now. Although, she wasn't phased by her exertion due to the immense amount of magic inside of her.

Despite all of this, Magloria knew that she wasn't infallible. Her end goal? Maybe she could stage some sort of attack on the alicorn princesses in secret. Kidnap them. Use them for her own purposes. Afterwards the ponies would look for a strong leader - naturally would be her. Although rather honestly, she never had an end goal in mind. Sapping up large amounts of magic for herself would work for now although it wouldn't last her forever. She had to find some end goal. Perhaps she could find a way to lead some force and stage an overthrow of the Crystal Empire? Perhaps, but such things were well out of the way for now. Plenty of time to think after all.

Throughout her time in her isolated focus perhaps Operata had caught sight of her practicing in her obstacle course. It had been minutes since she had ended her practice, that would likely allow him to come closer. Magloria was looking out over the pine forests and the frozen dunes beyond, her eyes looking upon the Crystal Empire in the distance.

Yet still, her instinct told her that something was of. Thus so, she'd remain on guard for whatever is to come.

Yet still, her instinct told her that something was of. Thus so, she'd remain on guard for whatever is to come.

Interesting... Was this his intended target?

Operata had to deal with the sudden appearance of a bear that had wandered towards him, in a rather bad mood, so he had been slightly delayed. Only slightly though. Whilst he enjoyed screams, he found dismay in harming animals, and as such, when it charged him, he had just used his magic to make it rush further in the direction it jumped, whilst he got out of that way. Let its momentum get it some distance. Maybe slide down the path some more. If it kept going at it then, he'd pull out his weapon of choice: A tenor stick. Waving it with his magic, whilst a low, calm tune would lul the beast to sleep.

His magic worked via application of sound. Sometimes to strengthen, others to weaken, and in cases like this, to make one forcefully go to sleep. He had no interest in adding more scars to those he already wore, so a physical confrontation with a bear, was a bad idea. Best to just have it wander off, or sleep in, and then have him and his girls continue. It'd probably make a lot of noise too, if he spend time fighting it, and that wasn't gonna help this case.

Especially not as he had wandered on, and actually found a being. A pony, of all things. Shouldn't be a surprise he supposed. Ponies were both the greatest examples of good, as well as evil, more times than not. This one didn't look too tough, but the usage of magic he witnessed, and how she seemingly did well in this frozen landscape, would show her having more to her, than met the eye. A home advantage for one, which were not in his favor. Though maybe the obstacle course, or training area - he could not discern its intent just yet - could be. As thought, his magic worked with sound. That could make part of this crack down, and be used as weapons for him, under the right circumstances. But not from this angle. He'd have to enter more proper, and get a good look at this. Though he wanted this to be over as soon as possible. Defeat this one, in whatever way he saw fit, and then use the scroll he carried, to teleport them back to the warm base, far from this icy, desolate place.

Of course, nopony said this one were actually his target, but come on. Who'd otherwise live out here, in the middle of nowhere, and act like that? She were fishy in several ways.

He'd do his to stay out of sight, and be still, when he eyes fell in his direction. With his covered in snow his coat were, he'd fall in well with the surroundings, long as she did not look directly at his face. So he'd have to avert that from her, if he had an idea that she'd do so. As for where to go? He'd look for an entrance into this obstacle course, and then find a good angle from which to let loose the girls. *sigh* After he asked her to surrender peacefully. He hated that part, since nopony ever did that, but protocol demanded that he made that an option.

Sometimes, he really missed not working for those beings. Things were so much simpler, when he didn't have rules, and morals to adhere to, beyond his own. Which admittedly, others had thought of as abhorrent, and vile. Not that he cared. He only cared to hear one tune, and that came from the pained, open mouths, of the sinners who'd catch his interest.

Due to how well blended in Operata was, he was able to blend in well with the surroundings due to the snow on his coat. After all, Magloria wasn't looking out for a pony currently so she was able to miss his appearance in due time. Looking up into the sky Magloria would admire the crystal clear sky above. One could say that the sky itself along with the snow was similar to her coat color. Part of the reasons why she chose this area of living. It was easy for her to blend in. Little did she know, she had already been spotted.

Magloria had turned away from the obstacle course in time to allow Operata time to release his cats from his hold. Due to the amount of snow that came here, she opted to not destroy the obstacle course as it was very unlikely for anyone to be out here. Besides, it had just been a new year anyways so it was likely that others were off celebrating their family time together. Thinking about that made Magloria scowl in rage at how she had never had family to celebrate with for the past how long was it now...30 years? 35 years? It had long since crossed her mind until now.

With a vile hiss from her lips she'd turn towards the Crystal Empire. Perhaps today she could take yet another pony away of this grateful time of year. Or she could just find some time to bask in the radiance of the Crystal Heart. The heart itself brought to mind love that she had never really felt in a long time. Was she deserving of love? Of course not. Nobody could ever love her. Everyone hated her for who she was - and she was going to take revenge for it.

The mercenaries she worked for? They were alright. She even made friends there, but due to one thing or another she had to step away from that line of work. Especially because of the negative comments she'd often get. It took her a long time to learn how to restrain herself in many situations. Despite this, his cats and he himself was able to get a closer glance at Magloria. She was a rather beautiful unicorn mare. Why wasn't she wearing a coat, or anything of that sort? Isn't it far too cold for her to walk around without clothing? There were obviously more than meets the eye about this pretty mare after all.

With her tail blowing in the wind and her focus away from them - it was up to Operata's cats or he himself to make the first move. What move would he make?

A pity it were, that he had to hurt this one. Among the desolate, snowy forest and rocks, she stood out like a beautiful lily. A suspicious one, judging by her not needing to wear warm clothing, but that did not take away from her appearance. In fact, it enhanced it to some extend.

But alas, an order were an order, he supposed. A pity he could not meet her under different circumstances. Though he supposed, it wouldn't have mattered. Few mares tended to care to get to know him, and he found most of them dreadfully boring, weighted down by far too many morals, and uninspiringly lackluster, in every sense of the word. Typical for him to find one who seemed to have some interesting potential, and then it were one he had to bring along with him. Alive of course.

Oh well, she would've likely disappointed him in some other way, if he had gotten to know her. Nothing could ever be good and simple, no?

Letting out his girls, he could clearly see how they were not fans of where they were walking right now, even if he had let them out past the piles of snow. The cold just wasn't meant for them.

"I know girls, I know. Let's just get this done with quickly then, and be on our way, yes? Let us prepare the concert."

Falsetto would go her own way to the side, whilst he approached full on, with Sonata. In case she were unwilling to be reasoned with, Falsetto would begin the assault, with a proper surprise attack. Sonata would prefer to just go over and rub up against the mare of course, and purr for pets. She were always so overly friendly like that, which worked at times, but it were hard to tell if it would here. If not, she made for a good surprise, in how brutal she could be, even though Falsetto were the true, antisocial one. She liked no one, except for the two of them, and herself. Anypony else, she'd happily claw to shreds, for no reason beyond her feeling like it. Hmhm. Daddy's little monster, that one.

"Hello there, mistress of the north."

He'd walk into sight, and raise his voice up, to ensure she could hear him. His gaze would land upon her, searching and a little creepy. Like he hoped she wanted to fight, and were pleased with the idea. The little creepy smile, frankly wasn't helping him. Nor were the scars, that didn't exactly give his leering a more innocent look.

Sonata though, would be more friendly, and move towards the mare slowly. The tabby meowing for attention, as she made her way towards the very soft looking mare. Such a soft mare could probably give some good pets, yes? Hopefully she'd get a chance to try that. On a nice, warm pillow too. In a sun beam. Mmm. The thoughts alone almost made her purr already.

Magloria's thoughts were shattered like glass upon the sudden intrusion of Operata and his feline companions. For a few moments she didn't seem to react to him and just looked directly into his eyes, unphased by his comments or appearance. Her expression was stoic yet unreadable beyond the blank expression across her face. Whoever Magloria was it was certain she wasn't a normal pony. Whether she was who Operata was after was not known at this point.

What Magloria could figure was that Operata was intentionally searching after her. The fact that he had cats with him was even more suspicious. Nobody in their right minds would willingly veer this far from civilization, besides her of course. Her eyes lock with his own and she moves away from the cats, obviously not deterred by their cuteness. Magloria was probably the last pony in the world to ever like anything cute...at least in admitting that.

"I find myself at a loss as to why another would venture out here without purpose. You came here with intent. Not by accident. It is for this reason I am highly suspicious of you and I would politely ask that you turn the other way and pursue a more worthy endeavor." she spoke. Her words were cold and right to the point but maintained an aura of politeness. For such a pretty mare, her voice did have a sense of tranquility within it. It was harsh, and unforgiving much like the landscape itself. Oddly fitting, one could say. Her gaze was calculating as if planning her next move, as she discerned her next moves carefully. Magloria wasn't going to throw the first punch. It was more satisfying to see if others were willing to do that first before she would.

Besides, Magloria had all the mana storage she had as well as her confidence in the surroundings. If Operata was going to fight he would be doing it on her own home turf. His companions...she wasn't one to harm animals, so she'd mostly focus on Operata. Although if they weren't actually cats at all they would prove a challenge. Perhaps they could turn into beasts, or were mere illusions? Whatever the case may be, Magloria was rest assured and ready for anything.

"Oh, I wish I could. Just wander off to somewhere warmer, and find a nice little place, to make music to my hearts contend. This dismal winterland, are not suitable for us, and I'd never care to go up here, where I not forced. Even knowing that there were a pony like you up here, making the tundra more intriguing.

So, we're both ponies with a mission, and better things to do than beat around the bush, so let's just get to it. The Undercourt heard there were a lot of disappearances up here, that couldn't be chalked up to just a few wandering off in the snow, and want whomever set it up, to be brought back for evaluation.

It's not as impressive as it sounds. It's *rehabilitation*, of low key villains. Couldn't care less myself, and you don't either. So, since you're obviously somepony out of the ordinary, I'm supposed to ask you to lead me to the prisoners, and then come back voluntarily. And if you're like the others before you, you're not going to. Don't blame you, I wasn't all too thrilled either, and didn't come willingly.

I'd prefer not to start something here though. Looks and all are whatever, but you're clearly in control, and got some backbone. Seems a shame to crack that."

Looks and all were fine, but honestly, he didn't care about that in the slightest. He could be looking straight at Fleur De Lis herself, and all he'd have to say, were for her to get out of his way, and stop wasting his time. Now confidence, and an aura of powerful, well earned superiority though? That he had respect for, long as it wasn't going too far. And this place wasn't decked out in pictures of this mare, nor were she giving a third pony speech right now - it never got less tacky to hear those - so she seemed to have her pride at a good level. Not too full of herself, and standing out, instead of hiding like a little, scared mouse. And that voice. Cold and clear, like the winter air, and not to be taken lightly.

This were the sort he wouldn't mind working with, back at the Consortium. Which were just what he called them internally, and sometimes to their face, because his main boss didn't like it.

Meanwhile, Sonata would slowly get closer, due to the ice being slippery after all. There were still some distance, as it wasn't easy to find a path, but she'd try her best. As well as keep trying her most endearing meows, purrs and smiles, to make the mare want to pet her. Which she really wanted to. Might be she had to fight her too, but she loved attention, all the same.

Falsetto would've found a path up, hiding more in shadows, and looking on in silence, until it were her time to strike from her - hopefully unseen - hideout. She were shaking slightly in the cold, wanting this talking to be over with, so she could return to the nice, warm jacket. And then when they got home, could run straight back under the blanket, and chase away anyone who'd come int o disturb her. All but Sonata. She were the only one allowed there. Maybe Operata too, after he brought them food, and extra snacks. They deserved it, after dealing with this cat unfriendly environment. And the catnip he promised them.

Magloria seemed unphased by his statements. Eventually she would have expected someone to catch onto what she was doing out here. It was on part of this reason she had planned on changing her operations to somewhere elsewhere. But she had made the mistake of staying put for all this time doing what she had been doing. That something that she dually noted but it was far too late to change it, at least not while Operatta was around - posing a challenge to her.

"Because you have been of good nature up to this point I'll acquiesce to your requests. It would be best for you to reconsider your decisions, though. Someone of your nature is obviously capable of so much more than merely being the errand stallion in service of someone else. Realizing this, it is of great confusion why you would serve someone else rather than serve your own cause. Perhaps you already do, though - however that is of little concern to me." she spoke with unwavering distinction in her word. Magloria was definitely not an openly prideful sort but she was very assured in her word. It was more of confidence rather than her pride.

Magloria kept an eye on Sonata. The feline was sure to not be trusted in the least. Appearances sure were deceiving. She began to lead Operata away from where she had kept the prisoners. It was for the best that she didn't take him anywhere near them. She had a few close encounters with the more wily sorts in the past but thankfully she had learned from those mistakes. Because Operata had came here with intent, it was far more likely that he would be able to do something that would jeopardized her operations. Besides, he didn't actually know where her prisoners were. If he did, she'd think of something else. It was better to attempt to manipulate him first.

"You are no normal pony, yourself. Surely you've got a story to tell. Most of them are mundane - but I sense that within yours you have one that is worth the time of telling. If you are anything like me however, I'd have to defeat you in combat in order for me to be endeared by your tales of heritage." she spoke in a metaphorical manner. It was clear that Magloria wouldn't admit anything about herself further, he would have to defeat her in combat. With Magloria though, she accepted his demands. In truth, she was manipulating him to catch him off guard. However he was likely of high status and him going missing within these hinterlands would mean someone else would come along.

She had to think of something else than normal. Use him as her pawn? She could use someone to help her on her missions of achieving great power and alicornhood. However, it was very likely that he wouldn't submit to such a request willingly. Her plan was to force him into submission one way or another then use him as a pawn in her plans. Perhaps she could find some way to 'dispose' of him later on in a way that wouldn't be so risky and revealing of her guilt. Either way, he'd get more 'use' than a normal pony. He should be honored.

"I did do so much more. Just a simple life of dragging those who didn't deserve better, away from prying eyes, and make them sing such lovely, pain-filled songs for me. Aaah, how the days were grand, when so few cared about a villanous sort just simply vanishing for a time, just to return a weeping little thing. Laying about, begging to admit to everything, long as they were kept in a nice, safe cell... Good times."

Operata didn't believe for a second that this mare were just going to lead him right to the prisoners. Not this easily anyway. She wouldn't be much of a vilanous kidnapper, if it were this easy. But he'd indulge her for now, and see what would happen. Might be he'd learn something interesting, before he had to run her through the ropes, and make her part of his ever-growing resume, of pain and misery.

He wasn't shy that he missed the old times, when he operated in the dark, just doing his thing, and not seeing much in the way of consequences. His new life were something he had been forced to partake in. Not something he wanted, and him moaning about it, were about as much a constant, as the council reprimanding him, for use of excessive force.

As Magloria started to lead them away, Operata would wave for Sonata to come his way. Something which the cat quickly did, and jumped right on top of him. Where she'd then pull his hat back to his neck with her teeth, and then crawl into it. Making a little warm cave for herself, where she'd still stick her head out from, whilst giving out a loud, satisfied meow.

Falsetto would narrow her eyes, from her cold hideout. Once this were done, she were going to go into the warm bed fort alone. Sonata could take the pillow, if she wanted to openly mock her like this. Lucky little...

Operata would get over to Magloria soon after. And for a brief moment, he considered simply just jumping her then. Just pin her down, and assault her with an orchestra of screams, until she begged for mercy. Such a simple way this could be... But no. It were not the performance befitting of her, nor did he care much for that right now. She wanted to talk? Then talk they would. At least for a short while, as they walked into the obvious trap. Which he didn't really fear. He doubted she were going to kill him, and traps weren't as effective, when you had outside help. In fact, it could make for a counter trap, as the assailant would be overconfident. In his experience that were, anyway.

"Why waste the time fighting, for something so mundane? I told you what I did. The history before that is pedantic, and irrelevant, and ended when the court started snooping around. Typical, isn't it? You're just starting to have fun, and then it gets attention of others. Much like what's happening to you now.

I broke the first they sent. Next ones, were not so easy to deal with. Ended up being dragged to some ghastly tunnel system, and given an ultimatum: Serve in rehabilitating others, or get wrapped up in a bow, and dumped on the Royal Guard's front step, with a folder full of evidence. The sort that's get me imprisoned for at least a good ten-fifteen years minimum, even with Equestria's lauded focus on rehabilitating villains. Turns out there's some things that make them more hesitant, and I had been a little... Naughty."

Operata licked his lips a little. A slightly creepy looking thing, as his stare kept being forward, with the unnerving gaze his eyes tended to carry. Yet he didn't intend for it. His lips were just a little dry. He were also however, naturally unnerving, compared to regular ponies.

"Prison is such a dull place, and they aren't big on pets, so what choice were there? I'm imagining they want to give you the same offer, depending in which state your prisoners are looking."

He were interrupted now by a meow, as Sonata would poke a bit further out of her hat cave, and reach a paw out towards Magloria. Her meowing insistent, as she waved a pa up and down, trying to get attention.

"She'd a friendly sort, isn't she? Not what most think happens to cats, who others have tried to drown in the river before, but Sonata is such a sweet little girl. Can't say the same for the one who tried drowning her, but there's many things best left unsaid about them. Like what I did to them.

But I've told a lot already, and you've said nothing. How about you give me a little something in return, my peculiar little mare? Like a name? Or where you're actually leading me, because let's be honest, a mare as determined as you, aren't gonna just surrender that easily. You'd not have gotten anywhere, if it were this simple to sway you."

Throughout all of Operata's conversation Magloria remained stoic and unwavering. It was clear that the one that she were dealing with had an extensive history that she had been told without even being asked. Not only that but it seems as though the one that she were dealing with were also very self indulgent. Those types she had an intense hatred for and wanted to put them in their place. Although she hadn't usually gone out of her way to do so. Now could perhaps be the time for that.

However cute his feline companion it was clear she wasn't going to submit to that either. In her mind that was an obvious trick. Surely someone of his stature wouldn't have two normal feline companions? Either way, she wasn't going to underestimate him. He likely knew that she wasn't taking him towards where the prisoners were. The direction they were heading in weren't a simple opposite path of where her cave was, it was more so on a diagonal path away. If they did get into conflict hopefully they would be far enough away to where the true location wouldn't even cross his mind. She had it covered over with snow, that only she knew where it was in truth.

Throughout the time they had spent walking her expression remained cold and ruthless. "I have nothing to give you. If you do not want your pets being harmed than it is best you had left them in relative safety. Besides, that is to be expected with those that walk this land. No matter what your perceptions may be of me - I have encountered those who genuinely could stop your heart. What happened there though, that's not up for me to say." her quiet gaze met his own as if discerning his character. His presence wasn't like that of a normal pony. Quite frankly s he didn't like that in any context.

"Someone such as you from what I can quite obviously tell has no right in pretending to serve the masses. You already told me what I needed to know about you. You are one who enjoys your own image and power over others. Can't say I blame you, but to imagine myself on the receiving end of that is nothing more than a travesty. Let's see how long you can keep that up." "with an oddly swift motion, she backed off from him and faced him the eye. He might have noticed her entire body shimmer a sickly blue hue. Whatever that was, it was far from normal."
"Either way - You and I both knew where this outcome would lead. I'll do this whole world a favor and put you to the test. Can't have self righteous sorts who pretend to serve the crown walk the land, can we? I won't believe you. You are deceiving me and I can smell it as clear as one can see the daylight. You are clearly another opportunist that deals with those who cannot think for themselves. Thinking that you can twist those around you with words. Maybe I was wrong. You do indeed serve yourself after all." she remarked, a predatory grin seeping across her face.

Now that he was able to see her properly, her horn gave off a blue pulse. For a split second nothing happened but the snow and ice around Magloria began to take shape around her. The snow and ice took upon a blue colored hue just like that was on her horn. It spun around into several shapes. Around Magloria there were several spinning spikes. He could hear them slice through the air. Suddenly one of them fired off from it's 'orbit' around her, directly at him as it split into four different sections as they sped through the air at him.

Whatever that was, it was far from normal."

A low, creepy chuckle would come from Operata as she said this, and his gaze fixated more on her. Unblinking, and amused, yet not in a way that would be deigned as proper for most.

"And you don't enjoy being above others, little shard? You hide away at the most northern point of Equestria, taking away others to do what you wish towards. A selfish, lonely pony, flaunting your power, and you wish for control, with every movement. Every word.

The only difference between us, is that I'm honest about what I am."

How funny it were, to be facing one who looked upon him,. whilst not being any better. In many ways, even worse, as those that he kidnapped, were eventually returned. Thus far, there hadn't been news of anypony making it back, that had been taken. Not that he had been told of, at least, so she didn't even have that leg up on him. Silly, foolish little shard. But if she wanted to do this the hard way, then by all means, let them dance. He'd happily provide the orchestra.

Her body shimmering were something of lesser concern for him. He already assumed she had some kind of ice magic, or were an illusion, based on her lack of attire, in this frozen cave. And really, she weren't going to stop what she were doing, and tell him what the deal were with that, so why bother being worried, before he saw something happen?

Before she began her attack, he'd have one remark to let out, whilst at the same time, taking his weapon of choice, out from his jacket.

aILyrrQR_400x400.jpg

The custom made conductor baton, floated with the use of his magic. A spark so marine blue, as the crystal at the baton's base, betraying his brief, annoying expression, before going into a grin.

"To Tartarus with the crown, and all it's self-righteousness."

The baton would tap in the air twice - which strangely made a sound, as if it hit a wooden surface of some kind - and he'd begin directing it, whilst a larger, pleased grin spread on his face. Faint hues of blue began floating randomly around him, as the sound of an orchestra began. Flutes and a low trombone at start, setting the tone, as the violins came in. When the icy spike came for him, he were prepared, and the baton would raise. The symphony increasing in volume as it did, and from seemingly nowhere, the spike would be shattered.

Magloria were surely not a fool though. She may have guessed it by now, that his medium were sound. It made him a bard of sort, if you wanted to be pedantic about it, though this were not the regular, D&D kind of lute player. Operata could enhance too, but sound had many aspects. Such as here, where a properly placed soundwave, could cause him not to be impaled upon the ground. Which honestly, would have been a rather pathetic way for him to die. At that stage, he'd rather wish to be fed to a bear. There were more dignity in that.

"Sonata!"

The baton would swing around in a circle, as he jumped back, and the striped tabby jumped out. The odd hues began to swirl around the cat too, whose fur seemingly almost crackled with energy.

She'd let out a meow again, towards the mare who had thus far ignored her entirely, but surely, she could not do so again. Not with the volume it gave off, and the pressure of the sound wave that came with it. The direction of it pushing rapidly towards Magloria, and her wintery shell.

The music of the orchestra would begin to change, and began having tones of loud whistles. Making it sound almost as if there were birds mixed into this performance now. That didn't seem to do anything here. Yet elsewhere, not too far from them, a certain unseen guest, began to lick her lips in anticipation. She'd move forth, jumping towards the target, whilst staying as best she could at the sides yet.

Magloria didn't reply to his earlier statements as she observed with a mull disappointment upon seeing her ice shards shatter into millions of pieces Infront of her eyes. For a brief moment she observed the shards falling down in to the snow. It was beautiful despite the current duel at hand. Operata's talent in sound was confirmed. This would prove a worthy match for her, there was no doubt in that. Part of her had a respect for what he was doing. He was confident and had the gumption to actually back up her words. My, how she hated gumption that wasn't her own.

A predatory grin escapes her mouth. "I never lied for I haven't spoke on the subject. Then again, the inhabitants of this world are fragile little snowflakes. It is their fault for being that way. Anyone in this world has the potential to be what you or I are now but yet they chose not to." Magloria sneered. She'd do a sudden flip in the air as her entire body pulsed blue in rapid successions. Clearly the same attack wouldn't work again. Her gaze would clearly land upon his feline companion who were likely preparing for some attack of some kind. Magloria was most likely correct in her assessment that his companion wasn't a regular feline.

Either way, she'd quickly realize his staff. If she had any hope of weakening him to the extent that she wanted to she was going to have to get the staff out of his grasp. The blue pulsing of her body would cease as there would rise various ice spikes up from the ground which blocked their path. This was merely just a distraction of course, as Magloria would move further away. She knew that Operata could easily get around the spikes or shatter them. That wasn't an issue for Magloria though. The ice at Magloria's hooves seemed to gather around her hooves and then it seemed to alter its structure slightly. This formed ice skates to a degree.

The blue pulse this time around would carry into the ice and snow around the area which would quickly turn flat and smooth as glass. In doing so, this put herself at an advantage over her foe but it was also possible for him to be able to slide away from any potential attacks so she knew very well that she couldn't directly target him as good as she wanted to. Quickly, Magloria would skate away from their direction and from her vantage point of slipping away she'd fire off a blue laser in a sweeping motion where she predicted them to be. It was unlikely for said laser to hit the two of them at once but it was possible that it could hit one of them.

The sounds of the orchestra was getting rather annoying but it was something Magloria did her best to block out of her mind. Magloria predicted that he would be able to do a far more dangerous attack with that and so mentally prepared herself. The blue pulsing within her body didn't cease as she was charging herself up. The spell for the ice skates and altering the form of the snow around her wasn't all that taxing to do, but still it had costed somewhat of her immediate supply of magic. It was best to fully charge up as she awaited the results of her attacks. Her strategy for now was merely to slip around and dodge anything direct towards her in an attempt to wear down his defenses.

"Potential is meant to be realized, not squandered away. Too many fail to understand such a simple thing."

So it seemed the two of them did have some common ground. Who knew? Had the situation been different, perhaps the two of them would've been able to marginally tolerate one another enough, to consider each other allies in a way. A shame it were now to this instead, where the two of them were destined to fight. Though who knew? Perhaps after he won, and she were initiated, he'd be able to be a mentor for her there, and see if there wasn't something to work with. Unless she hated cats. He simply couldn't accept that.

It was a shame she jumped up the way she did, and avoided the shock wave, but no matter. There were still plenty of combat to go, and many opportunities for them to hit her. Even if she now seemed to have another idea of how to do things.

Before the laser hit down, the crescendo would increase in volume, and four slices would appear to go through the icy spikes in his path. The spikes would slide off slowly, and fall to the ground with a thud, revealing that Sonata seemed to have her claws out, and were not hovering slightly in the air. The aura that had been spottily around her before, had increased, and seemed to act as a sort of energy field of a kind, laying in layers around her.

She'd step forward, with the vague outline of an energized cat paw beneath her, and almost immediately started to loose her footing. A little embarrassing, but there were no time to do something about that, as Operata would notice the beam come towards them.

He'd throw himself at Sonata, and skate across the ground with her in his grasp, shielding her. He'd feel the beam fizzle just past his ear here, but that were not important. His cat being safe, were all that mattered. It were not the first time they were in danger of course, but this beam seemed like something he couldn't deflect, and would potentially cut through his precious companion. He couldn't have that.

The music however, did not stop playing. The baton were still floating near him, playing away, though the tune had gone stagnant, instead of evolving as he had slid across the ice. No matter though. He'd get her for this.

The music went back to evolving, with deep horns adding to the symphony, once he released Sonata from his grasp. The aura were grew in thickness, and intensity, and the fur on her crackled away with a good amount of magic. The energized paws now seemed to not have issues with the ice. Potentially due to some slight spikes, judging by the marks in the ice.

"I think it is time for a duet. Falsetto!"

The air around him would vibrate, as the sound of an opera singer, singing in their usual gibberish, would become part of the performance. As would Falsetto, energized up as well, and jumping from the shadows, towards Magloria. She didn't care to kid around now, and with her claws out, slashed towards the air, where she could see the shield around Magloria. The slice would be the same as had hit the ice earlier. A slash of claws, focused into a cutting wave in the air. The shield could likely keep it from hitting her, but for how long? The energy fields that - for the lack of a better term - increased the size of the cats, via the aura, would just get stronger, the longer the melody were allowed to evolve. As would their attacks, which for now, were simple, yet relentless, Sonata would also join in with a heavy slice of her own, before letting out another booming, wave-pushing meow.

There were a reason that most didn't fight Operata. The way he empowered his cats, were difficult to deal with for many.

Contrary to how most would be in this situation Magloria was completely calm. She wasn't going to allow her emotions to get the best of her here. To be completely calm and logical was the way to go here. However she did have a hatred for his pet companions here though, it was just troublesome. Mostly out of how Falsetto would jump in. The cats were definitely an issue to be dealt with but one should aim for the head first. What would the head be? Operata himself. She had to eliminate that staff of his but it was going to be hard to do so.

Magloria was able to prevent Falsetto from attacking her with the shield but the symphony? It was time for that to end. Magloria's blue magic inside of her pulsed faster and faster like a heartbeat. For a split second Operata caught sight of her face. Emotionless and unreadable. After their eyes briefly locked, Magloria would flip back into the air in a similar manner before but somehow she was able to do so faster, moving back away from the three of them. As she moved back she was able to see that Operata's cats had gotten larger. It was time to up the ante. She was able to do so un-damaged, but as a consequence this meaned that she didn't take the chance to attack now, when she was building up an attack during the time she had spent in the air.

Magloria would spin her shield towards the front as she spun in the air, her back hooves with their skates touching the ice behind her as she stood on her hind hooves. With a force of her magic she began to skate up the hill behind her. Smirking slightly at that thought - she aimed to have the high ground and have the advantage. The shield began to turn to a solid blue as well as the snow in front of Magloria as she moved back. The shield seemed to thicken in multiple layers as the snow in front of her seemed to flow directly out of the ground and combine with it. This state of affairs lasted for a little while as she moved back and built the shield up, longer than Operata likely would have liked.

Suddenly the shield itself would split in half. Half of it roared into the air and split into various pieces, forming almost missile like shapes that began to bear down on Operata in several directions. Opera would no doubt be able to take out some of them, but in the manner of which they moved it would be hard to get all of them. If they had hit near to Operata or his companions they would explode into crystal like formations on the ground with the intention of ensnaring him or his companions, at least distract them for a little bit.

The other half? That'd seem to turn into a funnel of blue energy that seemed to spiral around her horn in various helix formations. She'd aim that directly at the ground in front of them and fire. It was much like the laser from before but more powerful than that. This was intended to take out the three of them, or at least kick up the snow in front of them so she could charge up another volley. Throughout this, she always kept a fraction of her magic charging up inside of her. She was careful to not use all of it at once.

Operata saw the ice being thrown towards him, with a smirk on his face.

Waving his baton, several sound waves, hammering with a thunderous chorus, would smash into them, dispersing the ones that would be the closest to hitting him, as he stood still. His cats were agile little darling. They could avoid this themselves.

Admittedly, he did not expect that one of those he hit, would then have a shard explode when it hit the floor, and lash out towards him, but he'd dash away from that.

At which point, he'd be trapped by the ones exploding behind, which would manage to grab hold of a fair chunk of his lower back legs. Now, that were fairly annoying. He'd have to remember to punish her for that later, though for now, he'd just continue his assault. The more the melody kept going, the stronger it became, so he could divert some to going towards the ice, attempting to encase him. making it vibrate, as the sound would hammer at it, and attempt to make it shatter, and free him. Preferably before say, a large spike would be thrown at his face.

As for the cats, the aura around them, encasing them like energy armors of a sort, had them now at around the same size - if you included the aura, encasing the cats seemingly moving about in free air - of young, adult tigers.

They'd attack, but they'd only manage to get a good, double slice of sharp *claw beams*, rushing towards the icy mare, before her attack forced them to jump away for higher ground, until it were less of an issue. Some nearby ice formations working well as things to latch on to. Though again, it'd seem like they were just floating in the air, nearby this, lest you bit notice in the magic encasing them.

It were likely the helix had been tossed in the middle of them all, as they were not standing together. The two cats were on the assault, while Operata provided the backup after all. The cats were likely out of range of it, but Operata had to grind his teeth, and add another part to this. A loud, single tone opera singer voice, that came as an attack smashed out, to hit the attack from Magloria. It'd have the force of a train running right into you, so it might do something, but at the very minimum, it would still toss up snow everywhere, and obscure vision for them all. Except Magloria likely, who likely had less issue, glancing through the thick, powder-filled air.

Magloria was more than pleased that she was able to distract Operata by snagging his legs with the shards. At least she knew that she was capable of doing that. Of course, he is a pony just like her. Every pony has faults and weaknesses that she could exploit. Magloria was no exception to this but the difference here was that she were on her home turf. Close to her magic supply, in the ideal environment for her, and that's not even considering the amount of combat experience she had.

The claw beams had managed to slice away a bit of her tail as she had ducked. However that was of little concern to what had happened next. Right upon feeling the force of the voice coming towards her she quickly raised a good deal of of ice from the ground with her magic to block the majority of it. Although with the way it had been positioned the force of the voice was able to knock her back a good ways up the hill. It seems she was using his attacks to fuel her own tactics. However the ice had also shattered all in front of her and was blasted back as well, making it harder for them to see her through the snow filled air.

A few of the shards had impacted her fur and left some cuts. But that wasn't something she were a stranger to. Besides, when it was cold out the blood would clot up faster due to the cold. Though they couldn't see it but she was grinning wildly at her position. Not only did she have the higher ground but she had the advantage due to them currently being within the snow filled air. Quickly she forced herself up and dashed off to the right to avoid them predicting her movements. Magloria had quickly surged her magic. This was the most amount that she had performed in her draining, draining from 4 of her captured unicorns to fuel her next attack.

Her horn swirled with multicolored magic. It wasn't only blue this time, but it also combined varying degrees of other types of magic. The beam swirled into a triple helix of blue, green, and white. The 3 different parts had spun off into the air rapidly before splitting off and attacking the lot of them from 3 different angles. The blue one had struck squarely in front of them and exploded in a similar manner as before, kicking up even more snow in the air. The white and the green ones had attacked from other side. The white one was similar to the blue one although the crystal shards if they had managed to ensnare anyone would be slightly harder to deal with, while the green one was just a less powerful version of the blue one.

The attacks themselves individually weren't all that impressive, but the amount of them and how she had planned it out and used her terrain for the advantage was quite something. She could do this all day on her own turf. The question was - How long could they withstand?

"Girls, to me!"

He couldn't see what were going on, due to the annoying snow fluttering in the air, but he knew that she were doing something. He could sense it. And whatever it were, it would likely make the last attack pale in comparison. So he'd have his girls follow his voice, to come back to him, where they could more easily manage themselves.

As he did that, he'd also start to add a common thing, when it came to music magic. That being *debuffs*, to use the boring, pedantic name. Though he liked to think of it more as negative afflictions. Much as he could help others, the same could also be used to weaken others. He hadn't thought it necessary at first, but this mare were proving to be a bigger nuisance than anticipated.

She should be able to feel the beginning of it, when her attack were fired off. A wave of nausea, slowly creeping towards her stomach area. Though it would be but a snippet, as soon after, the attack would hit the lot, and the sound drastically decreased, to little more than a hum.

When the snow halted, she'd be able to see that they were all still alive, but it weren't looking good for them.

Falsetto and Sonata were not trapped in the ice per se, but their aura fields were, which halted them from growing out of this, and attack right away. And as for Operata, he had managed to shield them from the worst, by exploding a large sound wave, but he were staggering now. The amount of magic he had were still enough to fight, but he were feeling it. As well as seeing that she had not faltered.

"Grrr. This won't do. Lava Plumage can do this instead."

He'd stop most the empowerment of his girls, that made the aura go, and allow the cats to move again. They'd then go over and use what they had left, to slash at the ice holding him down. His own assault would increase in noise again, but now solely being about making Magloria weaker. Waves of nausea, fatigue, and weaker illusions, if the effects embedded themselves strongly enough. Whatever worked right now, as he'd do his to make her feel unwell, and generally weaker.

Whilst doing that, he'd pull a scroll out from his jacket, and throw it on the ground. It'd unfold, revealing a heavily runed page, that'd start to flare up, once he stomped on it. The scroll he'd been given to bring her back, but he'd instead use to just secure his own retreat. This situation was not in his favor, and he didn't want to risk his own life, nor that of his cats, any further. This were better dealt with by others than him.

All he'd need, were twenty seconds as the spellwork unfolded, and the teleport began. He should be able to keep her at bay for that long.

Magloria would stand there and await the results of her attack on the three of them. Upon seeing the snow filled air clear she could see that her attack had somewhat succeeded. Now that the ice had held him down - she had a hold on him in many ways more the one. The special thing being about this ice was that it was a magical construct. Not only that, but it was a construct that she had designed with her own spells after combining aspects of various stolen magics from various avenues.

Magloria would march forward, her eyes looking at the three of them with a dead silent glare. Magloria could definitely feel the weakness coming on and staggered slightly but her resolute mind pushed through the fatigue and illusions she were feeling. It took her a considerable amount of effort to do so but her horn would glow. The ice would that had already hardened itself around him would begin to harden and begin to grow. As she stepped forward Magloria quickly took note of the scroll. Magloria didn't quite have enough time to recognize the runes themselves but she stepped forward closer.

A push of her telekinesis would keep his feline companions from touching her at the moment. Although her force of telekinesis would only end up shoving them back a ways, it hadn't done anything to hurt them. Magloria didn't believe in hurting animals that didn't pose a significant threat to her at the moment.

Magloria's eyes would seem to flicker a bit as she forced herself to resist the magic he was doing on her. Clearly, he had managed to affect her but it appears her mind was strong enough to resist it. With her magic she grabbed the scroll in a motion to rip it in half. It was possible that he could have done something to stop her though, but she was determined to see this to victory in her favor one way or another.

"I give you a chance to lay down your arms to me and surrender honorably. The alternative is not so honorable. You fought respectably and I commend you for that. So offer me respect in turn and surrender to me. I am apt to be more lenient on you should you do so." she spoke in a clear authoritative manner, and was not willing to take no for an answer it seems.
