(Spectra)

Spectra would finish her drink in due time, taking her time in silent thought to ponder over what he had told her. He was cruel - evidently, given that grin across his face. She knew that he had likely vanquished many in his time. A surprising waste of resources, she thought. Though in battle - she supposed it was understandable. Spectra chose not to question him on that, though. He seemed like a very reserved type. Something that was respectable.

After finishing her drink, she would look to him as he already started leaving. Briskly - she would catch up to him. "A price worth paying is a price well spent." she'd say in agreement with him, in a casual tone. Throughout all her conversation she never rose her voice or changed her tone. However talkative she may be - she maintained a general aura of being collected. Loud proclamations never got anyone anywhere - and simply served to garner more attention. Noticing how Jade Eye had tipped the barkeep - she honestly felt surprised by that. Seemingly wishing to keep up a good reputation, she'd quickly levitate a small sum of cash over to the counter, though not affording the barkeep even a look. The tip was her expression, so to speak.

When they walked by Operata, Spectra would glance at him - clearly indicating that she was to be followed though not spoken to. Silence was better. Unless something needed to be said that needed absolute attention - otherwise? She preferred to not be spoke to. As they walked, Spectra too would maintain her silence. Spectra wished to project herself as a thoughtful mare who maintained a sense of conduct, however rambling her words may have been.

Upon seeing the ship he proudly owned, she'd take a look to assess it. Flying sail boat? Creative. One could say impressive. At the very least it weren't something she were expecting. "Most impressive. Better than the ship that I've got." she spoke, subtly referencing that she didn't own one of her own. "Have to say it is superior to Equestrian designs. Or even those awful guard carriages, peh, to think that they still use those old things and not anything of actual ship construction." she spoke with some zeal in her tone, indicating she was actually impressed by something. That was rare.

Spectra would proceed to board the ship and gave Operata a glance. Jade Eye could perhaps sense her confidence in "owning" him, as she had clearly done something to keep him in line. Boarding the vessel, she would follow him respectfully.

(Magloria)

Magloria would only nod to what she was told. Sounded like Spectra fought someone horrible. Perhaps even more horrible as she herself was - though this was only because of her lofty pursuits for power. Nothing else to her mattered. Any good deed she did was never genuine - but for her selfish intent. Magloria was never that kind of pony. Nor was she a kind pony, either. Something...neutral, maybe? Magloria never really was an emotional type. At least, that is the persona that she would let on to others.

When Veil had gathered the mushrooms, Magloria would nod to her in a respectful fashion. She'd take a few bites. It was clear that she knew that these mushrooms weren't dangerous. Veil could hear her munching on them as they moved forward. Half an hour later, they'd find a river with clear open water. It looked peaceful. Magloria would bend down and lap up some water. She wanted to truly get her snoot wet, and drink right from the stream itself. To see such a powerful, yet equally calm mare do such a simple task - could almost be considered cute, now couldn't it? She'd savor the moment, before she'd actually dive into the river a bit and splash about. An unabated sigh escapes her lips as her eyelids roll back a bit. She didn't care how that seemed. Magloria wanted that moment for herself.

Her horn lit up blue and next to her - she'd form a small raft out of ice. It was elegant to see the form take shape in the pristine waters. It was made for two. Magloria silently looked to her, and formed two sets of oars with ice. Of course she'd have to renew this, but the river was on the map. It was a faster route to Sugarville, too. How nice of the elements of nature to provide them both with a scenic - yet convenient path.

Magloria motioned for her to board the raft, and once she did - Magloria would start paddling. The other pair of oars was a good indication of what she wanted Veil to do. Magloria's silence maintained the beauty of the moment. Perhaps Magloria wanted Veil to enjoy the same.

"This here's just a provision ship You wouldn't forget seeing the real thing."

Not when it were in good condition anyway. Right now, it weren't amazing, but when it were fully repaired, and once again, he'd roam sky and sea alike, descending upon his targets from the deck of his ominous vessel. It were something that most would remember for the rest of their lives. In part because their lives would end up being awfully short right after that, if they didn't consider pledging a sizable, charitable donation to him, and his crew.

Basically he robbed people, and didn't much care for those playing hero. They were mostly just used as examples of what happened if he got displeased. Jewelry and coin bags tended to get loosened awfully quick after that. Though with his reputation where he usually roamed, it were rare that anyone tried anything, so most just surrendered anything valuable on them, rather than lose their lives. And if he were in a good mood, he'd let them keep some things. Nothing major, but still, it were the thought that counted, yeah? Heh.

"And Equestria's ideas are relics, just like their princesses. Investing in proper wood, and they'd have a fleet that could dominate the skies, but whatever. Least it makes business easier, unless the Coastal Guard shows up."

Truth be told, he sorta liked the Coastal Guard. Sure they were trying to fend him off when they happened on one of his *Charity drives*, but they were still making an effort. They had some style, their ships were alright, and they had some proper fight in them, unlike the lazy Royal Guard branches. They were still woefully behind, but like he said, least they were making an effort, and making sure things wouldn't get boring. Though they had a few members, that he owed a harpoon through the face of. Including that general Tidal Wave of theirs. For such a small pony, she sure were a giant pain in his tail feathers.

Jade Eye would like seeing this, as he did not like Operata. He thought the little music colt, where an annoying manipulator, who draped himself in a layer of purpose and righteousness, while being no better than the rest of the scum around here. Plus he hated his cats, and the feeling were mutual.

He'd return shortly, with a a small hexbox. A battered iron construction, locked up tightly, though right now, said lock had a key in it, and were ready to be opened up. And when it were, it would reveal a necklace. An elegant silver necklace, with an even more elegant piece of jewelry dangling from it. A disk, cut with a motif of a mare with long, flowing hair, dancing on a field. All in pure silver, with the hair being made in rose gold.

Then he'd raise it up, and turn it around, revealing that although this were thin and flat on the back, in the reflection of the silver, you could see movement in the light. What movement varied. The tip of a few sharp, pointy teeth scraping by for one. Another looked like blonde hair, flowing by. Nothing else showed for now. Just some flow, as if there were a river, though you'd only see something occasionally, and only if you looked closely.

"Heytzu Nidha. Or to some, the Bargain of the Flesh Goddess. Speak the phrase, and you'll pay the toll, for a dummy copy to take the hit. A liter of blood, offered willingly, and it ain't gonna be gentle. But what's that in exchange for your life, yeah? And don't go wear it when you sleep, or you might find those teeth coming through anyway, for a lil' love bite.

So, you see what I got. What you got then? You ponies seem to be are fond of gold."

(Magloria)

Veil were happy to see Magloria eat. She had gotten worried that the mare might end in problems if she just pushed herself, and didn't do normal things like that. Seeing her eat, were comforting. Less chance of her just collapsing from sudden hunger, which would definitely be bad. Veil knew some things sure, which included some basic first aid, but actual medical knowledge? No, she did not have that. She might be able to use a healing spell if she tried though. She weren't sure if she could, but... Probably? She seemed to have a mixture of odd magic now, so it were hard to say what she could, and could not do. Definitely something she needed to try at some point, as that could probably come in handy.

Getting something to drink would happen not too long after, as they came across a river. At this point, Veil had started to bite notice in something she had expected, but never much thought off, after what had happened to her. It seemed far more important to focus on staying alive and free for so long, she hadn't much cared to truly notice, but she did not seem to grow any wearier by their travel. Going fast or slow, even jumping over roots and the like, she did not feel any kind of fatigue. Something she had sorta guessed would be the case, as she weren't flesh and blood anymore, but it were still something that were odd, now that she had the time to stand and focus on it. Like back when she tried to feel her heartbeat.

She hadn't felt anything of course, and it had been hard to adjust to. She did *pulse* in the same way a heart should beat, which is where her emotions radiating out were from. But the frequency and feeling were far from the familiar feeling, and sound of a beating heart.

As she thought on this a bit, it appeared that Magloria had an idea, and had made a frozen vessel to traverse the river. A raft of ice, with oars. Enough for more than just her, which made it fairly obvious what the mare thought. No words were need there, and in a way, Veil expected she did not want to hear any either. She just wished to travel faster, and so, she'd board the vessel, grab the oars, and work on getting a rhythm going for this Were she as she had once been, she likely wouldn't have the physical strength to do a lot, compared to Magloria, but her current body were in the shape of an adult, and strong as one. She could follow troop, soon as she figured out the right timing and such, so the first few tries would probably be a little odd, until she found the rhythm.

As there were not much else to do, Veil would just focus on the paddling, and the scenery that passed them by, taking in the sights. She had been in that ugly, twisted forest for so long, then on to a mountain... She hadn't much actually thought of just enjoying the sights of nice, colorful nature again. Maybe not the safest - a wolf getting hold of a rabbit they passed, were proof of that - but it had a great beauty to it still. Something far better, than where she had been, which at least for now, made her appreciate the sights more.

She'd even get a visitor of sorts, as they paddled along. A bird would land on top of her head, seemingly curious. Most birds would likely just stay away, but there were some birds who were more curious than were wise, as they had little in the way of natural predators, and thus, tended to be bolder. Some even seemed to have an affinity, of greater curiosity, towards strange magic. One of them being what this were: A young phoenix. Male or female, she did not know, but she could feel the lean bird's warmth, and it's curious movements on top of her head. It stomping around, seemingly confused and testing the waters, so to speak. She'd get distracted for a moment, and almost fall out of her rhythm, when the bird would lean over, and look down on her mask, looking her in the eyes upside down. Then it'd peck at her mask a few times.

It were odd, but at least she did not seem to be scaring everyone, as much as she had been afraid of. In fact, this little one ended up not taking off yet, but rather lay down, on top of her head - where there were no wood, but just the magical outline and *magical fur* of her form - and roost calmly. She could feel it's soothing warmth on her head, and would do her best to not move it around, as to wake the young adult bird up.

She had not expected this, but judging by the warmer emotions, of joy, and foal-like wonder that pulsated from her, she certainly did not mind being used as roosting spot.

To Jade Eye's quote about her seeing the real thing she would shoot him a slight devious glare - as if understanding what he was hinting at. She were sure she'd go far with such a vessel under her command. It were something that she needed to obtain at some point. She would be walking out of here satisfied with not only powerful armor, but also a dark blade as well. Why didn't she come here earlier? She'll probably want to stay here a good while. Spectra knew that it was a very hard place for authorities to get into without being uncovered by the various array of personalities here. She was sure that any attempts in the past had failed, and who would want to step into this mess? It'd be like marching straight into an angry bee hive and expecting not to get stung. This was her place, and she sure had the time and available funds to trade for practically anything.

"Equestria certainly holds itself back in terms of that. They have all available tools to become a fearsome force, but they don't. Feh. I'm not complaining though." she commented casually as they proceeded onward. Truly, she was no one to complain about that. It just made it easier for her. Spectra was no doubt confident in her ability to eliminate Equestrian guards if they came her way - but it was the private forces that Operata once worked for that would prove to be an issue. If she can truly defeat and absorb Malevolence's magic for herself, she'd probably be at least on equal footing. The only who concerned her the most was the one named Lava Plumage. Wouldn't be a pretty battle, that'd be for sure.

Upon being at the point where Jade Eye would get something to show her, Spectra would wait near to where he walked into - though she did not follow him in as a sign of respect. As she was waiting there, she wondered what Operata was up to. Hopefully he wasn't getting into trouble. If he was, she wouldn't hesitate to ring him in a bit and rough him up a bit. Shake him down, you know? Spectra knew that Jade Eye wouldn't mind watching that. He'd probably be quite entertained.

As for the artifact in question, her eyes would fall upon it as he spoke to her about it's details. Certainly was something of interest to her. If this was something that could help her stand up to the Elements of Harmony and harmonic magic, that'd make all the difference. Even if it were only capable of lessening the blow - every edge counted. She were a Blue Mage anyway, it's not like anyone would know that she would be able to absorb magic and cast it as her own. Yet, did that apply to the Elements of Harmony and magic of similar power? The "absorb magic" part only worked if she survived the blast. That was the kicker.

"Looks marvelous. A very rare specimen indeed to say the least..." she spoke with a look of Glee. This would be a great addition to her wardrobe - but she knew not to get too confident in her ability to defeat those who crossed her path. "Gold? I have something that should be of great interest to you, instead." she spoke. Her horn flashed green three times before a folder of papers would appear next to her. Spectra would reach down and grab it, opening up the folder as she levitated the folder's contents close for him to read. "This here, is various Equestrian state secrets I uncovered. Ranging from anything of recent Politician scandals, where their vaults are, that sort of thing..." she said with a leering grin.

It was something she got her hooves on before she crossed paths with Operata. These were the original documents - and she was smart enough to copy them multiple times over. It was her plan to find those of suitable intent to hand these over to. It didn't matter however cruel or indecent those characters may be. "I am sure these will be of great aid for your cause. I looked through them recently, and some of those precious vaults are located in Tampa Neigh and Maretropolis, areas you should be familiar with." she spoke to him, allowing him to look through the documents. If Jade Eye looked through them, he'd see that she was correct. These Documents were clearly for the Monarchy's eyes only.

(Magloria)

Magloria would not complain as she had seen Veil adjust to her rhythm of paddling. It was to be expected for her to not get it right off the bat. As Magloria paddled on, she would look off at their surroundings. The trees were full of color and the calm flow of the water spoke of the tranquility of nature that surrounded her. It had been far too long since Magloria has last seen the beauty of nature. For a mare of tactical intellect - she had to admit that her mind deeply longed for this. Even before she were captured by Spectra - she were completely wrapped up in her duties with no time for anything else.

Magloria started to ponder that perhaps her predicament wasn't so bad after all. She now had nothing attached to her name nor any responsibilities than the ones that she chose to take. It would be very easy for her to board a train somewhere and retreat somewhere very far from the world's problems. Yet, she wasn't someone to walk away from her problems. This situation was far bigger than her after all. It could be very possible that the fate of the world rested on her shoulders - yet oddly enough, she felt no pressure. If she would simply stand by and do nothing, Spectra would be able to strike without anyone knowing what hit them. Magloria already knew what she wanted to say. All she had to do was find a place to say it.

As they paddled along, Magloria would look at her reflection in the water. It was a reflection of her mood - to gaze upon the gently flowing river. Playing back the various memories in her mind that lay dormant for many years, she realized that if she had taken any other paths in life she would have been long dead by now. Spectra would have never captured her, and she would have died over a thousand years ago with nobody to remember her name. But now? She had the chance of a lifetime, to reveal the truth about Spectra once and for all - something she would be sure that would be known for many years long after her death. Spectra were no ordinary crook. She was a truly ancient one that existed before Equestria's founding. Not many of that age remain. Even in Magloria's time, Spectra far preceded her own.

After about half an hour of silent paddling her gaze would land upon a hungry wolf devouring it's prey along the shore. Such a sight elicited no reaction from Magloria. Nature had a sense of beauty - but that beauty was equally matched by it's brutality. Magloria knew that she would have to play the role of predator in her mission. She would not let anyone get in the way of her plans to expose Spectra for who she is. There were no indications that Spectra knew that she was missing. Magloria did not know how long it would take for her to notice. The mere thought of that made her pick up the pace ever so slightly.

Magloria would have heard the flapping of the young Phoenix land and roost itself on Veil's head. She appeared slightly stunned by this? Who would have thought that a bird would come up to them like that out of the blue and land upon Veil's head? Magloria couldn't help but give Veil a faint smile. Magloria wasn't so emotionless as she seemed after all. Perhaps that faint smile would show that Magloria wasn't someone who had ill intent. It were genuine. Magloria would say nothing, merely opting to let Veil enjoy the moment.

It would be a few hours before they'd arrive at the docks of Sugarville. The river came to a narrow point that bisected the small town - evidently showing that the river was used for navigational purposes. The icey raft by that point had mostly melted. It would be a strange sight that any onlookers would see. A well armored regal looking mare, with a strange traveling companion.

Now it was time for her to find someone to talk to. Magloria would depart the raft, gesturing for Veil to follow her actions.

I've just seen what happens if you're careless with this thing, and I've seen enough stuff to know that gods are real, and they're vindictive. How you think I got the arm?"

He wasn't talking about the jade arm, but the one beneath. A funny little punishment from the god that laid it upon him. Least he'd assume that's what the meaning of it were. Or some sorta poetic nonsense. Weren't something he much cared about. He had tried to plunder a place he apparently shouldn't have, and a vindictive little thing had repaid his greed, and banished him from the island.

It was annoying for a while, but he found a way around it. Made his curse, become his weapon, fully under his control. It had been part of what took him from lowly amateur looter, to notable threat of the seas and skies. And all of it came down to a simple act from an island god, to a deckhand of some nobody. Maybe he'd thank the god, if ever he found that island again. Then after that, he'd probably torch the place. It was a matter of principle.

This next part, Jade Eye scowled at first. Some paperwork? What did he look like, one of those annoying spies? He couldn't use royal secrets for nothing. Frankly it just put him in a worse position to have that stuff in the first place, as it put an even bigger target on his head. Not only from the governments in question, but also the freaking consortium. And he had zero interest, in having to wonder when some sneaking little shadow-stabber, was gonna gut him, and steal this stuff.

It were starting to sound like a waste of his time, and his golden hand clenched some, causing furrows to go over the deck.

'But then, she kept talking, and mentioned the vaults. At that point, he got a lot more interested, and would accept the paperwork. He'd skimp over all the state secret stuff though, and not care until he reached the vaults. At which point, he's run a finger down the paper, and stop, at around a third down the list. A cruel, sadistic grin spreading on his beak again, while a dark light seemed to metaphorically light in his eyes.

"The Eclipse Vault. I've been looking for this one.

Heh. You got yourself a deal."

He'd close the box he had gotten with his other hand, and push it across the deck. It wasn't large, or heavy, but he were not gonna throw this. Might end poorly. The key would be in the lock.

He'd however, not stop, and would hand her the paperwork of non-loot related stuff, right back to her.

"Keep this. I only care about the vaults, not having some bullseye on my back, from the shadow creeps. And if you know what's good for you, you'll go sell it to them directly, before they get a whiff that you're holding it. Otherwise, you'll find a dagger in your back before you know it."

He knew his way around a fight,. More than a few frankly, but he had not gotten to where he had, because he picked fights with the wrong sorts. And those types could kill you before you even realized it. Best to stay on their good side, or at least not try and actively antagonize them.

"Anyway, you seem to know your way around some fairly interesting stuff. I'll keep you in mind, if I run into something special. Something that this dingy little town ain't worth looking at."

===========================================================================================

(Magloria)

While she had enjoyed the travel there, as soon as Veil had seen the town approaching, she would do her thing, to get out of sight. A small spell cast around her, would shroud her from vision and smell, as well as dampened her emotional waves to the point of being more or less impossible to feel, unless you were highly attuned to emotions. Combined with her paws not making a sound as she moved, and her not breathing, she essentially had to bump right into someone, to be noticed. Provided there were no changelings, but surely changelings weren't just suddenly widely accepted, to just wander around int he open in Equestria... Right? It were probably fine.

The shroud were reactively, and not proactive though, so a few might have seen her, before she seemingly shimmered from view, in a cover of glittering, rosa petals, that faded into nothing seconds after. Said petals - and thus spell - wouldn't just affect her however. She also used it to cover the phoenix. She wasn't sure why it were still roosting soundly on her head, but she hadn't the heart to wake it up, and quite frankly, liked having it there. It were a welcoming, warm feeling

She didn't want to get her hopes up, but she had heard stories in school, that sometimes, a phoenix would get interested in someone, and follow them out of curiosity. Princess Celestia's current phoenix, had apparently gotten into her household in that way. It were more of a rumor though, and she were aware that probably, the bird would eventually wake up, and fly off back to the forest, when it noticed where it were. Still, she could dream, and beyond that, enjoy it while it lasted.

"I'll follow, and stay out of sight."

This would be the last thing she said, as they would move even closer to the town.

Magloria should probably not signal for Veil to move with her, as she moved off the remnants of the raft. She might be seen as a little crazy, for gesturing into thin air.

It were true that Veil could have just taken her chances. Move past her worries, and try to see if maybe, just maybe, the town would be willing to accept her presence. But this were a time for Magloria to try and get some help, and information. Veil being there, distracting the townsfolks, and potentially causing a riot, or some sort of confrontation, were not going to be helpful. So unless she were found out, or Magloria essentially ordered her to reveal herself, she'd just follow along silently, and try not to touch anyone.

Spectra would be sure to give him a bit of a cock-eyed grin. Something about her smile was un-nerving, to say the least. She was a rather strange mare - walking in here with all sorts of stuff while being all casual about it. Perhaps if Jade Eye knew the real story behind Spectra was, he would want nothing to do with her. He were lucky that she were here to trade for better tools of the trade so to speak. If she were here to collect more unfortunate souls to add to her collection? Perhaps Jade Eye might have been one of them. This strange necklace was something she wanted to test out to make sure it worked. Not something that she would do right now. Later. After she leaves.

She'd observe him read through the paperwork she gave him. It seemed like he was very displeased? If he tried to do anything - she'd definitely be capable of putting him in his place. Not that she was particularly inclined to do so. Jade Eye was someone she sort of oddly respected? Having such massive influence but not the sorry sappy morality to back it up. It were a welcome change. Then she'd witness as he was pleased with her revealing the location of the vaults to him. It didn't matter to her that the papers she had about various government secrets were handed back. She'll find someone else for that. No biggie.

"That's a deal, then. More Vaults are located within that folder. The Eclipse one just happens to be the biggest one. Who knows what's contained within the others? That's for you to find out." she stated, with a respectful bow. "If that will be all, I will be around in these parts for a little while more - incase you need anything else. I have some work that needs to be attended to." she said, sounding like she meant business. Spectra was promoting the image of her having a busy life - with much work to attend to.

===========================================================================================

(Magloria)

Magloria would silently acknowledge Veil as she cloaked herself. It were possible that some town ponies saw Veil's presence behind her on the raft but if they'd look again they would see the lone armored mare departing her ice raft. They'd probably think they saw something incorrectly, and otherwise go back to their business. Magloria would walk ashore and take a moment to look over the town of Sugarville. It was a quaint small village. Seemed like it wasn't that much of a farm town - more of a maretime community focused around the river.

She'd take a moment to walk up to the nearest map she can find - in the center of the town. It was something they had put here for woeful travelers to plan their journeys. Many came here on boats, after all. She'd take a few minutes to examine the map. Canterlot was still there, but for the most part? Everything else had changed. Most of the city names she were aware of in her time had been re-named to something else. Las Pegasus was once the city of Pegaron, for example. Many new areas seemed to be on the map as well - evidently showing how cultures, language, and society shifted. Ponyville was where she wanted to go - in order to find these "Elements of Harmony" as Veil referred to them as.

At the very least, for now though, Magloria wanted to find someone authoritative to speak to. There were some guards about the place - and she'd proceed to ask them for where the Mayor or where the Royal Guard captain were. She did not seem too picky about who she'd be speaking to about Spectra. Just as long as the truth was revealed and passed along.

Jade Eye would smirk, and wrap up the papers he had been given. Minus the ones he had returned, of course.

"Nice doing business with you. Something tells me we'll cross paths again someday."

Especially if he managed to successfully raid the Eclipse vault. They'd never want to publicly admit to a theft on that place, as it were not officially real, but it would paint a mark on him, if he did pull it off, which he still needed to figure out how to do. Heh, this were gonna end up being interesting now, weren't it? He'd consider recruiting this one for his crew for the raid, but she weren't deckhoof material. Too independent, and her lackey would likely come along too. He supposed his cats could chase rats around the ship, but he still preferred his regular methods of sorting that.

Sides, you didn't end up a deckhoof, or a pirate, by being well off. You tended to do that, when you had little other options, and your morals had a price. Sure he were well off, but he had also been a pirate for a long time, and he hadn't a bit to his name back then. Funny what a curse could do, to change your fate sometimes. A little anger, a bit of mutiny, and things started to slowly look up. A lotta hard work though. Hard, blood-soaked work. But that were just the price of staying in business sometimes.

"Hey. If you're looking for the consortium, to sell off those papers? Get to the freak. He pretty much got a way to get hold of anyone round here."

His eyes would narrow suddenly, and he'd look behind Spectra at someone. By the time she'd turn around though, if she cared to look, whoever it were, seemed to be gone. Likely blended into the crowd.

Anyway, seemed they were done, so once she were off his dingy, he'd go under deck, and stash these papers up properly. As well as prepare a few things. Whom he saw, meant that a certain someone were gonna come around here soon. He didn't like it, but sometimes you set the tone for the deal, and other times, the deal would be forced on you, if you liked it or not. This were one of those cases. Freaking oversized, magic-hoarding bloody lizard...

When Spectra were on the ground, and him nowhere in sight anymore, Operata thought that it were safe enough to speak again. Frankly he didn't much care to be treated like this, but it weren't like he had much of a choice in the matter. Spectra could do harsh things, and Jade Eye would've turned him to pyrite, or stabbed him. He were a small pebble in that situation.

"That is one deal down it seems. Where then, would you want to proceed to?"

(Magloria)

She wouldn't have to look around for long, to find a guard. As one of the outskirt towns, they didn't have any of the actual royal guards here though, but rather a local police force. They still technically counted under the guards though, and had to wear the uniform, albeit with a badge. Some legal mumbo jumbo stuff, that were the reason for this distinction. Most who wore this, didn't much care for the minor details. In their eyes, they were part of either of the two main guards, unless of course, you got closer to the ocean. All of those towns, were populated and protected, by members of the Coastal Guard. And if this town were near the ocean, so too would it be one of those here, recognizable by their blue armor, and tridents.

This town, were mostly Solar Guards, and then one Night Guard, to keep watch during the night, just in case a bear tried to wander into town, and needed to be shooed away, or something like that. Happened often enough for there to be a need for that type of guard.

Anyway, the first guard she'd meet, could easily point her towards the mayor's office were. The captain however, she'd be informed she had to go to Canterlot, or the Crystal Kingdom to meet, with the latter being more likely, as his family lived there. Outskirts towns like these? Captain Shining Armor did not go to these areas, unless something went wrong. Nor did the generals, or any of the other high ranking members, such as Captain Crescent Sickle, of the Night Guards. Sometimes they'd get a sergeant, out to do some routine checks, but that were about it.

As for the mayor, she would be told to just go for the main building, but that she might want to try the market first. They usually went out for a cup of coffee and some blueberries this time of day, at a cafe near the north side of the riverbank. So it'd save her a wait to just go there.

Throughout this, Veil were secretly keeping a close eye on things, and how the town were going. It were odd to wander covered like this, around town, as she had to keep herself from talking, or bumping into others. It were going well currently, even though she sometimes had to do a circle around others, to get to Magloria. It seemed like a nice, quant town. A lot like where she had grown up, though that had been with less of a focus on a river, and more on local honey production, with vast flower fields, and fields of bee keepers. It were nice and calm. Hopefully it would stay that way.

"I have no doubt that we will see each other assume. Good luck in your "Dealings"." she would speak with a rather unsettling grin before turning away, pocketing her papers. She'd walk off the dingy the same way she came. Spectra was a rather strange sort, most likely in the eyes of Jade Eye. A rather unsettling mare with too much knowledge about things. Who knows how she got it or what she intended to do with it. Likely nothing good.

Spectra didn't comment on or make any direct indications that she noticed where Jade Eye had been looking. However in fact, she did notice. It was possible that she were being followed or observed by someone. For what purpose, she hadn't a clue. The more paranoid side of her would tell her that she was being observed by the same forces who were wanting to take her down previously. If that was the case, she'd honestly rather do something more extreme than end up captured. She had a way for it as a last resort...oh boy, would that not be pretty if it came to it. Spectra would never tell anyone about it.

Spectra took her time walking down the ramp, and would turn to Operata once she saw him. "I believe I have another deal to make with Gronth, and to also see if what I wanted is ready." she spoke, right to the point. And away she'd walk to Gronth - with that new necklace on her neck. It was a symbol of pride in her view. The armor and the blade would be something to accentuate it, and boy, did she have the ability to get more. Those state secrets? It took her quite a long time, and quite some effort to get. Nearly dying multiple times, almost getting caught, having to escape at the last second...she better find something worthy of value for those.

Something more permanent than merely a weapon or a tool to be wielded. Perhaps a body modification or some biological enhancement. Something along those lines....

(Magloria)

Magloria would thank the guard and speak to him further. "I am a traveler, one could put it that way. I am in possession of knowledge that is of grave importance to your town. You see, up in the mountains is a spot that has been hollowed out and used as a lair for a malevolent pony known as Spectral Fade. She is responsible for the abduction of dozens, if not hundreds of ponies and using them as living batteries to fuel her magical power. I was her first victim, over a thousand years ago." she spoke to him, in an ominous that indicated she was quite serious.

"Follow me to the Mayor, I want you to be aware of the details and pass it along. Send letters. Contact the Guard Captain. Pass the word far and wide. This is absolutely urgent." she spoke, as she began to lead the way to the market. Her Crystal Armor shaking somewhat as she walked, evidently taking a stride similar to a soldier. Magloria were certainly a mare who knew her stuff. Perhaps even better than these local police guard. They would be wiped out by Spectra in mere seconds if she decided to come here, Magloria were sure of it.

"My name is Magloria. I look forward to working with your mayor on getting the word spread about this grave danger." she'd speak in a formal fashion - it was the first time Veil heard her name. Magloria was intent on going to the market to meet with the Mayor as soon as possible, asking that the guard point them out if they are spotted. Magloria definitely had the aura of a serious pony who made no room for small talk.

The two of them were so similar. Spectra and Magloria. Down to business - but for completely different reasons.

"It have not been more than twenty minutes, so I imagine he may well still be in negotiations about your first deal. But I suppose, that it does not hurt to see."

He'd follow ,annoyed, and trying to hide it. He did not like that pirate, just as Jade Eye did not like him. They were clashing too much, and normally, Operata could likely have stood up for himself a little, rather than just take the abuse. But he were disarmed, lacked his cats, and were on a tight, metaphorical leash.

Also, Jade Eye were more brutally efficient than one might think. Unless he could cause a distraction for a while, the bird would have wandered over and gutted him, before he could mount a proper defense. One did not get to where he were, without some blood being spilled. He did have the capacity to show mercy of course, for the right incentive, but he did not like Operata, and thus, he had nothing to offer. Not in favors, gold, or servitude.

As or Gronth, when they returned, they'd find that the store seemed closed, but voices were heard, behind the curtain. Their timing were most fortunate though, since as they approached, he would wander out, backwards, so that he could still address his guest, and holding his paws closed together. All eight of those that he did not use to walk with. Well, not primarily anyway.

"- assuredly. I will inform her as quickly as I am able, my lady."

Following him, were an elderly mare. Seemed to be in her late sixties, grey mane collected in a bun, and her tail cut knee-high, with wavy hair. She were wearing a night-dark kimono, with silvery stars sporadically added, and on the side, the symbol of a sickle, in the form and color of a crescent moon. Her wings would be on the outside of the kimono, and the ashen feathers, would be laying down, not indicating her want to fly currently.

She would move calmly, with Gronth making sure that he were giving her ample space to move.

"You do that."

Her voice were as calm as she seemed, firm and warm. The sort whose words were so crystal clear, that it were hard to mistake them for something else, as she spoke with you, but with a peaceful tone, befitting of an elder equine.

Operata knew better though, and halted, not wanting to get near this one. In fact, he would take a step back. And though the mare did not look directly at him, a small smirk did still pass on her face.

"It seems I do not have to wait long."

She'd turn, and look at them, slightly bemused. Her eyes wandering slightly over Operata, making him feel rather uncomfortable, and then landing upon Spectra.

"So you are our provisioner then? My my, you sure have fascinating tastes."

Operata did not say a word. Did not even open his muzzle to try. He'd stay put, and hope that he would not be focused upon again.

Gronth on the other paw, would move forward, waiting for a few seconds, and then speak up, whilst making sure to not wander too close tot he mare, that he might accidentally hit her.

"Krrkkht. What timing to have, I just finished negotiations, on your behalf, miss. I believe you will be most pleased..

But first, may I introduce you to Lady Astra Luna, of the Moonsickle Consortium. She most graciously decided to oversee this matter personally, and apply her vast knowledge to the proceedings."

She did not act upon his words at all, but Gronth would yet still say them. This were a mare of importance, and he would address her as best he could: With compliments, whilst not lingering on such things for too long. He knew that there were a balance, between him scraping to the ground, going too far, and showing his place with flattery, and notions of her superiority to himself. A balancing act, but one he were quite skilled at, with various beings. It helped to make his job easier.

"Ma'am, while amusing, I'd ask that you please do not waste the mayor's time, with wild claims without evidence. While I admit it is unique, things like that, does not happen in this area. And I've been here for years. If there were anything indicating that there were a threat, either I, or some of my fellow guards, would have noticed it.

So unless you have something to prove that something unusual is going on, I must ask that you please do not disturb the mayor."

In fairness, she should have expected this. She came here and claimed that she were over a thousand years old, and that their little peaceful community, had a threat spanning at least that amount of years, that no one had ever heard of, and she would bring this forth, without any sort of evidence. This were the sort of thing that might be plausible near Ponyville, where the princess had dealt with many ancient threats, that had descended upon their town, but it had never happened here.

As for her armor, then far as he knew, that were just some cosplay thing. He hadn't seen armor like that before, and thus, didn't think it all that important. This far away from Canterlot, it wasn't all who had even seen a crystal pony before. Much less one of their guards.

The moment between the guard stopping to speak though, and something changing his mind however, would be measured in seconds. Magloria might even notice, or guess what would happen, as it were unfolding. Regardless if she did or not, she were unlikely to be able to mount a response, before it were happening.

"Something unusual... L-Like me?"

A quick, pink shimmer were seen, as Veil's disguise faltered, and she stood next to Magloria. The guard took a step back, eyes wide open, and reached for his blade per instinct. A response she had feared. As well as that of others around them, halting to see what were happening, and what this thing in their town were.

"I'm n-not her, but I've seen her. Been used by h-her. And I don't want her to be a-able to do to anyone, what she's done to me."

The guard looked hesitant, hoof stuck in the air, near the blade. This creature were... He could hardly describe it. The voice were feminine, and he'd think it a kitsune perhaps, like in the history books, but this didn't look right. This were some sort of abomination... But a harmless one, by the look of things.

His hoof went away from his blade, and his hoof would connect to the ground again. His eyes were weary towards Veil, as he felt a strange sensation of nervousness, rolling over him, from her direction. It were radiating along with movements from a strange, pink mass, in the midst of her being. This were an unnatural creature, but it did carry along with it, one part of nature. A roosting phoenix, sleeping soundly on her head.

Phoenixes were not known for just sticking around with cruel masters. Most were either wild, or followed those they seemed to think were interesting and kind enough, for their presence. This did not seem to have a chain, so perhaps...

*sigh* He knew not what to think. But this one hadn't attacked anyone, so he wouldn't do anything just yet. He could not well uphold the ethics code of his order, and still arrest her, just for the way she looked.

"...I'll lead you to the mayor."

He would lead them towards where the mayor would be, as mentioned earlier. And all the way, they would have heads turning, though rarely were it because of Magloria. She may as well be invisible herself, for the majority of the walk. Most eyes, of those who did turn to stare, fell upon Veil. Others either thinking her some sort of monster, merely curious, or did know what a kitsune were, and were confused as to whatever or not this were one. A few knew of golems, and were pondering if this were perhaps a special one. All had their own reason to stare, yet stare they did, and whispers would wander across town. Depending on things, they might die out though. Sure this were a special sight, the likes of which they probably hadn't around here, but if Veil didn't do much, the novelty would eventually fall off. Probably.

For now though, Veil would hang her head, and wander between the guard and Magloria, feeling like some sort of circus freak. Had she a heartrate, it would increase in speed, due to nervousness. Yet all there were, were a defeated feeling, and the same nervousness, over what might happen. Though too, with a slight hint of acceptance.

"I had h-hoped not to show myself, but I j-just wanted to help. I'm sorry."

"Yes. It is paramount to see. To see that it is being done properly." says Spectra, her mind completely glued to the idea of securing this deal and getting what it is that she wanted. Nothing else mattered. If anything went south in this deal? It were possible that Spectra could use her abilities to persuade them in order to get what it is that she wanted. But she were a patient mare. She waited many years to get what she wanted. Well, if getting inside of a stasis orb and waiting a bit for whatever it is that she needed is her idea of waiting, that is. Operata obeying her word filled her with much glee, to be quite frank.

When they arrived, Spectra would take a moment to observe the store. She'd stop for a moment and listen to see if she can gleam anything of what was being said. Spectra overheard something, but didn't understand what it was that was being said. The context was lacking. For that, Spectra would walk closer and present herself to the mare that was before her. If either of them cared to look at her - they would be able to see that Spectra had a brown coat with a dull grey mane with various streaks of white and black. Her unicorn form, with the necklace she had gotten from Jade Eye to accentuate her form was on full display. On her flank was a cutie mark was a simple scroll. They were free to guess more as to who she was from her appearance. Appearances can be deceiving. It's why Spectra was so fond of altering hers.

Spectra's eyes and stance remained casual as Lady Astra Luna spoke to her. It was a bit...uncanny? One can say? How truly comfortable she was within these matters. Making deals and gaining some rather powerful artifacts in it of her possession. "It pleases me to meet you." Spectra would say with a light bow. Her eyes lowering momentarily as she took in Lady Astra Luna's physical appearance. "I suppose one could say that I have interesting tastes. It pleases me more, to see that you are agreeable with these proceedings." she spoke and smiled. Her grin was once again, uncanny. Spectra was a weird mare.

"Now then. As you both are here, already talking - I have something I'd wish to show you." Spectra would say with that leering unsettling grin as she'd pull out the government documents from various Equestrian sources she showed Jade Eye. If either of them looked - they'd see it was quite the real deal.

(Magloria)

Magloria would keep her eyes locked on the guard's eyes. Her cold steely gaze was unaffected by what he said to her. It would perhaps be one thing if she were a mare who reacted violently, trying to convince him of her word. But she were not. She were silent - allowing him to see that look in her eyes to know that she were completely serious about what she were saying. Magloria was beginning to speak to the guard, "Believe what you wi-" before she was caught off guard by Veil revealing herself. Magloria would sigh, thinking that Veil was sorely mistaken for revealing herself.

Magloria was pleasantly surprised however, by what transpired next. Veil spoke on her behalf to the guard. The guard would perhaps notice that Magloria initially seemed...annoyed? But then seemed to relent, with another deep breathe. However, her inexpressive nature was not something that betrayed her here. Her look of annoyance was slight. The control this mare had over the display of her emotions was something that directly contrasted Veil's propagation of emotions in a way that others would feel. Magloria's emotions were completely hidden - underneath that formal grandstanding and steely stares.

"Good." Magloria would simply state to Veil, turning away slightly as the guard would lead them towards the mayor. Her armor reflecting the light of the sun as the onlookers watched the two strangers follow the guard. After Veil spoke, she'd look to her as she felt the emotions radiating throughout her from Veil. "Don't be. You proved my point. These ponies need to understand the stake at hand here." she spoke, her eyes narrowing slightly as she walked forward. She didn't look to Veil, but didn't openly scold her or anything else? Was definitely a step up from however Spectra and Mindstorm treated her

Lady Astra would not seemingly be affected by the mare, and would merely nod slightly back at her, in response to the mare's own greeting.

As the papers were offered, she would reach a hoof forth, and take one paper, from the middle, to examine closer.

"Official seal, right parchment, ghastly penmanship. Old information here, things not overly useful here... A few things of note here, that might prove useful. I am assuming that you are interested in selling these too, yes?

Interesting that I were not informed of this"

"Krrhtlth. My sincere apologies, my lady. I were only aware of the armor."

"I suppose, some things are best kept close.

While not everything here is of as much note as the armor were, I have some interest. And from what I am told, you are looking for things worth your time, correct? Things like the infernal blade, or that amulet that the pirate sold you?"

It might be it had been less than minutes, since that sale had gotten through, but she knew things. For example who had that necklace in the first place. It were a matter of logic to connect a few dots after that.

"Information is worth its weight in gold, so tell me, what is it you seek information about? In your own words."

She had been told things, but it were not the same, as hearing it from the mare herself. It would help her to determine what to do proper, if she heard things more directly.

===========================================================================================

(Magloria)

"Maybe they do, but still I am worried. This is the first time I've shown myself in a regular town, since... S-Since I escaped. I don't know what to expect."

Quite frankly, Magloria's arctic cool were helping here. Not the same level of cold that Spectra were. This were less someone analyzing what others might be worth to them, and more like someone who just had complete control over themselves. Someone who knew how to hide their emotions, and seem fully in control, which were a sharp contrast, that frankly helped right now, as Veil felt like she had fallen out of a tree, and just waited to see how many branches she'd hit before impacting the ground.

It provided a small degree of calm, to have one that were technically with her there, that had an aura of control and authority over them. Spectra had that too, but it were different. More... How could she put it... Like someone who were in control of her, rather than in control of themselves? She were still trying to grasp and contrast proper, so maybe someday, she'd have an easier time putting it into actual thoughts. Preferably sometime before she had to put it into words.

The phoenix also still helped. It sure must be tired, with how long it were sleeping, and seemingly not annoyed by the sounds of the town around them. Or did she have some sort of soothing effect? There were so much she did not know about what and how she were now, that what she did know, felt like a footnote, in a tome rivalling that of the long, eventful story of Caneighda itself.

Thinking on things like this, helped a bit too, so when they eventually got to the cafe, she'd only be marginally terrified, and about to go out of her good non-skin.

"Mayor Leafy? I have someone here who needs to speak to you, with little delay."

The guard would stand in front of a mare in her thirties, with her back turned to them. She wore a suit, with an official badge of Equestria on the back, as well as one in the front, that they could not yet see, dangling from a medallion around her neck. Her mane and tail were cut short,  bright green, and contrasted well with her more oak-brown coat color. She also had a pair of sunglasses resting on her forehead, and at her hooves, while the underside were not covered, she did have bottomless, silver shoes on. A more modern look, than many might think of the area, but just because you were a good deal from the capitol, didn't mean that you have to be a farming village, with all that entailed.

The pegasus were drinking from a coffee cup, where she used her wing to lift the cup with. Good control it seemed, and she would finish her sip, before she'd address them. Well, a few more seconds would pass, but she would get to them. She were just enjoying her drink.

"...A delightful, autumn blend, with a dash of spice. A good start to anything."

Her voice were calm, relaxed, and then she turned around... And her expression turned to slight confusion, growing more as she looked from the pony in the crystal guard armor, and to the... Whatever Veil were. She weren't sure, though she could feel something alright. Nervousness. It were like it were radiating from that one...

"...Either Ice have begun to spike my tea with vodka, or today is about to become troublesome. I trust he wouldn't do that on a work day however.

I am assuming you are the one who wants to speak with me? It must be something important, for a Crystal Guard to be here. Please, have a seat."

There were nowhere else near them, except for the random ones who still stared from a distance, and then of course the guard. They could speak here, though she may need to order something more. Perhaps that vodka wouldn't turn out to be such a bad idea after all...

Spectra would silently observe as Lady Astra looked through the papers she had given. While they may be old, there was something of value contained in there somewhere most likely. Spectra wasn't exactly concerned with what it was - as the mere holding of these papers showed the kind of mare she was. Willing to go to such great lengths for as of yet undiscovered purposes. Spectra would meet Lady Astra's gaze.

"Information is the most valuable resource there is. Anything can be information. It is most interesting to me to learn of what is hidden and how that may be wielded. More specifically - the secrets of Equestrian Nobility and the Monarchy. That is what interests me the most at this current time. How those of the Monarchy operate, what their weapons are, their magic, those who even associate with them and do their dirty work." Spectra stated, casually as if there was nothing at all unusual about what she was saying to Lady Astra.

(Magloria)

Magloria would simply give an acknowledging glance to Veil as they walked. Magloria walked forward, following the guard silently. However she couldn't help but advert her gaze slightly to gaze upon the sleeping Phoenix on Veil's head. She couldn't help but smile ever so slightly - even if it may be imperceptible it was still there. As Magloria walked she realized that she truly regretted nothing about her life. Anything she had done in the past was a long dead period of time in an old book somewhere. There were no regrets in her life. There was only her mission - to defeat Spectra and reveal everything. Yet little moments like these made her ponder what she would do after that was complete, if she succeeded. Magloria hadn't found an answer to it.

Maybe someday, Magloria would be able to open up more to those around her. Even in her hay day she was an inexpressive and secretive mare. Now? Whatever secrets she kept no longer had any meaning. But, as far as she was concerned? This was war. She wouldn't waste any time.

Magloria would observe the cafe - before her eyes would look upon the mare that was apparently the mayor of this town. Her eyes would soften ever so slightly as she would take a seat across the mare. Her armor would shift into position as she sat down. Her gaze, entirely locked to Leafy's eyes. "I am not a Crystal Pony, nor am I a Crystal Guard." she said, taking a deep breathe. "What I am about to tell you, will sound insane." she said as she would allow for those words to reign in the silence of the air for a moment.

Magloria pulled out a map and placed it upon the table, moving her hooves to where Spectra's lair was. "Here is a lair of a mare from a far distant time. She calls herself Spectral Fade. A very dangerous mare who harvests ponies to use them as living repositories inside of stasis orbs so she can use their magic to increase her own. She hails from before Equestria was founded." Magloria sighed, "And inside that lair, is a strange creature of Order-Based magic from what I could sense. It must have done a mistake that caused the orb that contained me to break it's seal, allowing me to walk free for the first time in over a thousand years. I took one of her stolen suits of armor, and left" she spoke, and reached into her saddlebag.

Magloria pulled out an array of things, ancient coins that were in pristine condition, ancient navigational maps detailing old trade routes and the like. As proof that she was really from a far off time. "Spectral Fade is a highly dangerous mare. In Caneighda she battled a false draconeqeus, who called himself Malevolence. Or formerly known as, Duke Mindstorm. This one," she gestured to Veil, "Was one of his experiments that he modified to suit his interests. Spectral Fade did this not out of the kindness of her heart, but to seek power over others through all means possible. Her goals stop nothing short of global conquest, and if left unchecked, she may potentially be the cause of the next great war." Magloria spoke, with an utmost tone of seriousness.

"I know of little, if anything that has transpired in the past thousand years or so. Even less of what Spectra has done and achieved. This is a matter of Equestrian national security, and because this mare is based so close to your town, it is of paramount importance for you."

Lady Astra did not show any signs that she were touched by the words. She simply listened, as the mare explained what it was that she sought. Quite frankly, this were one of the reasons why Operata found her unnerving. He had heard of her before, and seen her a few times too, in various situations, and he had not once, heard or seen anything, about her losing her cool. As for what she could do? He heard some stories. Most did, but when it came to her, and the others of the high council, it were very hard to know what to believe in.

"Inner working of the Equestrian monarchy then. I believe we can work something out, yes."

If Lady Astra still had some of the papers, she would hand them back to Magnolia.

"Six days. I will have a folder of pertinent information ready by then.

I look forward to our meeting."

Lady Astra would begin to move away. She had other things to concern herself with, here at the market, and her time were best spent wisely, rather than having her linger for more time than were needed. Though she did have one more thing to say in the passing, to Operata, who had hoped that she would not bite notice in him.

"The fifth moon, third cycle."

"O-Of course, Lady Astra. I would be honored."

Se would wander off after that, and vanish into the crowd. Quite literally, if they tried to follow, she would be gone. No trace, not physical, nor magical, would be there. She were simply gone.

"Krtkkrhr. That were well handled, miss. The merchant's star shines brightly upon you today."

"If only we all were so fortunate. But at least we did not cause her ire, so I suppose it could have gone worse."

(Magloria)

The mayor listened, and eximined the things presented to her. Ordinarily, she'd think these mad ravings, but there were things which were hard to ignore here. Evidence of something, that should not currently be sitting in front of her, along with that odd creature... She did not like to think there were much truth to these things, but it were hard to ignore what she were seeing.

Veil would wait until there were a pause. It seemed, that she had to say something herself, and she did not feel overly confident about having to utter it. Yet it seemed like she had to. She had made a choice, showing herself, and now... Now she had to walk the line.

"I were t-trapped in there, for three years. When Spectra came, I t-thought that she'd be taken too. Then w-when she defeated him, that I would be free, b-but then when I went with her, I s-saw things. Hundreds of beings, t-trapped in ice balls, with some of them a-apparently being there for hundreds of years. I were t-told to throw magic at her, so she could absorb and learn, b-but now I... I worry she were planning to m-make me into a battery too, when I couldn't do more.

Mindstorm... Malevolence, is still o-out there. And there's lots of p-proof of that. The great bauble is gone. The t-tower is vaporized, and all the others... They w-were killed, and their dust u-used to make a memorial."

"And this Spectra, did that?"

"N-No ma'am. It was a real draconequus. She looked like a m-multi-colored spider, with floating hands. She said her name was F-Fright. She was v-very calming."

"And you were not dusted too because?"

"I... I don't k-know. She said it was because I wasn't i-insane, like the others were."

The mayor closed her eyes, contemplating, then turned to Magloria next.

"You were there then, in Canieghda?"

"N-No ma'am. Just me."

"That does fit... Dear Celestia, why must problems like this not remain contained..."

Veil were rather confused by that, and then, the mayor would take the newspaper she had been reading, and show them the news on page three. One mentioning the very incident that Veil had been part of, with the headline *Caneighdian bubble, releases trouble!". A typical slanderous headline, but it were also mentioning things here.

"I'd say you had just read this, but I always get an advanced copy from the borderlands, days before most others have a chance. I didn't think much of it, but there were descriptions, of three there. A pony in a tacky suit, a mare calling herself Spectra, and then you."

She'd point towards Veil.

"T-Then it is easy, y-yes? Even if you don't believe us, there's a whole t-town to ask."

"There's not. Cause the messenger to the palace was the only one that's been found. The village were abandoned, and there's been no signs of those that lived there. But the rest? The monument, the fight, you, even Fright being mentioned... They never named her, but I know the description, even when it's vague. It's her. And that just made my job a whole lot more exciting, than I had ever wanted it to be."

The mayor would gather her thoughts, and if they wished to, they could read the paper, as she did. It mentioned things from the perspective of a villager, had a vague description of others there, with the one for Fright, mostly being a strange spider, that made them feel calm. It were not much, but to those who knew her, it were enough. It did also mention that the village were abandoned, and seemingly suddenly, as food had still been warm on the tables, doors open, and tools, toy bears, and so forth, were still there. Even clothes, that had seemingly just strewn around in small piles, belonging to several of the locals, according to the lone escapee.

"I think the best course of action, is to have you sent directly to Canterlot with this knowledge. The princesses must be made aware at once.

Officer Golden Hay? I'm charging you to lead them there, and to offer validity to their claims. It should at least get you far enough to speak with one of the captains, or a general, that can then take you directly to the princesses."

She'd go under her jacket, and pull forth a wallet, which she'd toss after the guard, along with an official emblem, that she untangled from her back.

"The next carriage leaves in a half hour. Board that, and it will take you to the nearest, connecting train station. I hope that will not be an issue?"

Spectra would nod and lower her head in approval, giving a slight bow to Lady Astra. Spectra were very pleased that Lady Astra had agreed to provide her information about the Monarchy. Six days. That wasn't something she had an issue with. Spectra had a lot of time to spend here to gather up all she was willing to - then she can finally return to base and check on how Veil was progressing. Hopefully she had practiced enough magic to offer a good little treat when she returns. Or else.

"I will be here and meet you at that time." Spectra spoke to Lady Astra before she walked off. Looking in the direction where Lady Astra went, she would see that she was completely gone. That mare would most certainly keep her secrets. She was quite sure of it. When the interaction with Lady Astra had been completed - Spectra would look to Gronth and Operata.

"Seems that way. I am ready to take hold of my new purchases, unless you require more time doing what it is you need to. No harm, no foul - if you do." Spectra said in a respectful and calm fashion. Truth be told, she were dying to have them on her now. One powerful blade? Check. High quality armor? Check. A way to stand a chance against harmony magic? Check. Next "thing" on her list was possible body modifications. She wouldn't exactly be opposed to modifying her body to increase certain aspects. Of course, she would wait to see what Gronth has to say before she would ask any questions about that.

(Magloria)

Magloria would remain silent and allow Veil to make her statements. It were good that she were here as she was living proof of the evidence that Magloria had stated plainly for Mayor Leafy to listen to. If Magloria were alone here? It's entirely possible that she could have been written off as some crazy cook spewing nonsense. Whatever Veil spoke also saved Magloria her breathe. She preferred to only speak about things that actually mattered - rather than idle chit chat. Magloria would then speak once the two had finished their conversation.

"She is credible. A living witness, as it were. Now let's see here..." Magloria stated, her eyes narrowing as she lifted up the newspaper in her arctic blue magic and began to read. Might as well take the time to read and absorb whatever information she could. As she read her eyes would narrow. An entire town's population...simply gone? Who could have done that? If it was truly Spectra that were responsible for that - then the odds were certainly stacked against her. It was time for the utmost caution. Reading through this, Malevolence could also be responsible. Whatever truly happened there, was something that was truly dangerous. Veil had told Magloria earlier about Spectra's encounter with Malevolence and all that - but this? This was something...else.

"This is even more dire than I thought. An entire town's population - vanished? This requires something outside of my realm of ability. The Princesses must know about it and deal with it accordingly." she spoke, sitting up. She'd fold the newspaper into her saddlebag and keep it for herself. "I thank you for your time in listening to me. I must warn you, however. Your town would be incapable of dealing with these matters on your own. I highly recommend that a well armed and coordinated force of guards arrive, and station themselves here." Magloria's eyes narrowed. "Not only that, but your population should begin to prepare for possible evacuation at a moment's notice. There is no telling what can happen - with Spectra's lair being right on your doorstep. Malevolence and Spectra could arrive at any time and engage in battle. Something where your humble little town will be right in the crossfire with. Prepare your townsfolk - or this town may very well share the same fate as the one in the Newspaper." Magloria would stand straight up like a soldier, nodding to Golden Hay.

"If that will be all, we must make haste and go." Magloria said, waiting to see if anything else was needed of her.

"Krhthtlkk. Of course miss. I will bring forth your items, and the payment from Lady Astra, so that you can see the transaction proper."

He would bow deeply, and wander into the tent, whereafter he began to pull things out, one by one. Carefully. He might have more arms, but some of these were still heavy, and he would not want to drop them. Especially not the blade. He would not risk it getting loose, and potentially touch him.

This left a few moments, for Operata to let out an exasperated gasp of air, and shake his head.

"Lady Astra Luna, is part of the Moonsickle Consortium's high council, and she did not get there by simply buying her way in, or nepotism. She came out of nowhere fifteen years ago, and rose to the top with ruthless determination, and disturbing levels of skill. She earned her position, so when she says she have the information in six days, she will have it, and she will come to you, regardless of where you are. I've known of some hiding in caves, or underground, and even if she herself will not show then, another will get to whomever they were seeking.

In the market, it is an unspoken rule to not speak ill or her, or if you meet her, to treat her with respect. Do not be tempted to think her weak, because she seem like a mere aging mare. I've seen her peel the skin back on someone's hand, who were trying to hit her. I didn't even see a movement, she just kept walking, with a few droplets of blood in her steps.

A good survivalist in this business, know that in these places, there are two that you don't speak ill off, as they will hear it. That being Lady Astra, and Le Perinne. Neither being terribly fond of badmouthing."

"Klrktthrk. It is also advised to try and gain their favor, as it can be very beneficial. Our friend here, were just given a chance to, were you not?"

Gronth had just set down the armor, and were going in for the blade, when he heard them speak, and believed it a good chance to say something which seemed most positive.

"I have been requested, yes. Judging by the date, it is their autumn ceremony. It must mean their usual tenor is unavailable.

Expect me to unceremoniously escorted with haste, in five weeks."

It were a nice way of saying he'd get kidnapped, and didn't have much of a choice. or well, he had a choice, but he were not suicidal enough to refuse. There were plenty who wanted to get hold of him, and his refusal, would likely result in a few interested parties, suddenly being very informed on where they could find him.

Be that as it may, Gronth would continue to take the items out, and when all the equipment had come, he would then bring the payment. Which were packaged in a crate, and when opened up, would show sectioned off gold, coin, and jewels, that would work as payment for things. He had yet to do the cut and give her what she would have after the payment to him, but he would get a smaller box after, to that he could prepare it.

"Krkthhrk. Please miss, inspect your wares if you wish beforehand, and we shall proceed with the transaction. Take all the time you wish."

========================================================================================

(Magloria)

"While I can make some preparations, there are limits to what I can do. It will be up to the princesses if we can get troops, and what to do if we do evacuate. There is not a lot of precedence for anything like this, and we need to sort out what to do with the town, the ponies within, and where to then go. I will make some ground work preparations, but in the end, the princesses, or one of the generals, would have to sign off on quite a few things, to help us prepare properly.

Also, the princesses, cannot do anything about the town in question. It is in Caneighda, which is not ther jurisdiction. Unless the Caneighdian government ask for their help, or it spills over the border, the prinsesses hooves are tied on this matter."

It was a matter of politics. If Equestria just wandered over the border to deal with things on their term, it could be seen as them trying to expand their empire, which could escalate rather grimly. They had enough issues with their war with the Trojans, without having other governments come and put pressure on them, or support the Trojans directly, to try and put a halt to the powers that be in Equestria, before they went too far.

If there were nothing else though, the mayor would lift from her seat, and be on her way. She had quite a lot to do now it seemed. *sigh* and here she thought her job would be an easy one, and a precursor for her to move into big city politics...

Golden Hay would be left with them, and now had to lead them to the station, to wait for the carriage. They did not have a direct train line in this town, so for transport, they made use of a carriage, that drove between here, and the nearest town with a functioning train station.

So he'd lead them towards the station, once they were ready. Were a couple of foals sleeping up against one another, with a tired looking stallion - probably their father - making sure that they did not slump over. He were too tired to really bite note in the others getting near to wait for the next carriage, so he'd leave them alone, if they then did the same in regards to him.

"So that uhm... W-Went okay, I think? I just hope it w-will go as well in Canterlot. I'll p-probably be too nervous to even look at the p-princesses. Never got that close the last t-time I were there.

I don't know h-how you just uhm... D-Do this, and not be worried. Everything's just s-starting, and it already feels like a h-huge undertaking."

Spectra would find herself annoyed by Operata's words. While her facial expressions bore one of detachment - she found herself a bit enraged mentally. She didn't speak badly of anyone! Why did Operata feel the need to explain something she had no interest in? She couldn't care less about Astra Luna. She just wanted what she needed and to be gone with it. To all of what Operata had spoke of, Spectra would remain calm and simply nod to his statements.

"Forgive me for specifying, but I meant no insult. I know nothing about her, but what you say however - is most valuable." Spectra would say to Operata with that same unsettling grin across her face. It was a good way to hide whatever frustrations she were feeling. Now wasn't the place to air them even if she were inclined to do so at the moment. Looking to Gronth, she would nod. It was time to focus on the immediate present in front of her and assess the situation.

"Of course. Give me a few moments." Spectra would say to Gronth as she would proceed to walk up to the equipment and the various precious gems that were displayed. Spectra would take a few moments to examine the equipment further, before nodding. "We may proceed." she said, with a slight bow. It seemed like she were satisfied with getting this show on the road - so to speak.

(Magloria)

Magloria would nod as she looks Mayor Leafy in the eyes. "I understand. I wish you the best of luck in this difficult time. I strongly advise you seek whatever support you need and to prepare your ponies for the worst of the worst." she spoke, and with a respectful nod in the direction of the Mayor. She would turn away, and follow to the station. In her mind, she was quite satisfied with the way things had turned out thus far.

Upon the carriage arriving, Magloria would board the carriage wordlessly as her eyes would fall upon the various foals in the carriage and their father. Magloria glanced at them but didn't initiate an interaction with them. She thought that it was for the best these foals maintain their innocence. Hopefully they would be safe if trouble came to this town. Magloria may be a cold and expressionless mare - but it wasn't like she didn't have a heart.

Magloria would turn to Veil, "I do it because I don't have a choice. It's either this - or the world continues being at risk without anyone knowing about it. There is a special place in Tartarus for good ones who stand idly by and do nothing." she spoke, and would lean in closer. "It will be fine." she spoke. Perhaps this was an attempt at consolation?

"...Something tells me I have erred in some fashion."

Operata looked at the unsettling grin with a rather disturbed look in his own eyes. Her words did not match that face. That was the face of someone wanting to tell him that he had done something very badly, and that soon as there were no guests around, he'd be punished. Like a parent looking at an abused foal at a party, who spoke out of line for a moment. Keep up appearances around the others, and then soon as no eyes were upon you, there would be consequences. Harsh ones, more than likely.

He hadn't even tried to be snide or insulting this time. He had genuinely wanted to warn her. Lady Astra did not get her position by being merciful and kind, and she did not maintain it by growing soft and comfortable either. If she heard others talk poorly about her, she would ensure that they were dealt with in some fashion, at a proper time, as to not spread the notion that it were okay to show her disrespect. Wasn't every little slight that got to her, but insulting, or mocking her, when you thought she did not have ears there, were generally a bad idea.

Still, it sounded as if he were not gonna like the retaliation for this later... Hopefully Spectra would find more things, and be in a mood to let him explain what he meant later. Perhaps the punishment would not be as potentially severe. Best that he watched carefully what he said from now though, just in case.

"Krkrkth. Very well miss. Then allow me to section things properly."

Using his many arms, Gronth worked quickly, in taking the various gold and jewelry out of the box, and put them in front of the various items, some in the smaller box, and then finally, not long after, it were all done. A few minutes to empty a crate this size. A perk of many arms, and the eyes to keep track of everything too. Though it had certainly taken some time to get used to, after the unfortunate incident.

The biggest pile were unsurprisingly, in front of the armor. It were not a big secret that it were incredibly valuable, and as one who knew what it were, Spectra would certainly know that too. better than anyone probably, in this market. The personal experience would matter in some way at least.

"Tkhtklkt. Presented here, is the price for the various items that you have requested, miss. What remains in this crate-"

He would point one paw towards the smaller one, that had been filled with gems and gold.

"Is the superfluous amount, that remains after our deal. Does this look agreeable to you, miss? I assure you, you will not find a better deal in Klugetown."

Due to the abnormality travelling with her, as the old school carriage had arrived, they had been directed to the back end. The foals didn't really seem to mind Veil, and actually seemed pretty curious, once more had arrived, and they'd begin to actually focus on her. The parents however, were a different story entirely. They made sure to pull their foals closer, making Veil feel a little bad honestly. But she understood, and did as she were told.

She cast a final glance at the front of the carriage. Looking at the woodwork, the large beast who pulled it, being fed and given water before the next trip... It must be nice to sit up front, and really soak that sort in. *sigh* Maybe another time she supposed...

With that, she'd go towards the back carriage, and sit in, making sure that she sat at the very back of it. It'd probably still be okay, this trip. Just a shame they had to be sectioned off, because of her. Though of course, the others could just be up near the front, or middle. It were up to them. Least that way, they wouldn't feel waves of depression at times flow towards them, whilst sat across a freak like her.

"M-Maybe it will be, but I dunno... You didn't s-see what I saw. Spectra is very s-strong. I don't know how we're gonna stop that, unless we can t-take away the crystals. I mean... is that an option? You got o-out. Maybe we could break the others out, and w-weaken her like that?"

"It would certainly make things simpler."

The guard would sit, and mostly just keep to himself. Quite frankly, the emotional waves were making him a little uncomfortable, though he tried not to show it. It were like being around a reverse changeling, which were not something he figured were an actual thing he'd ever run into. Hay, until recent years, he didn't even think he'd run into a real changeling. And that had been odd enough for him.

"Still, we'd probably need help f-for that I guess..."

She were looking out of the window, as they started to get along. At this point, due to other things happening, she had come to forget that she had a passenger with her, as the phoenix still didn't seem to want to wake up. It moved it's beak a little though, and shook wings a little, likely to just get some air between the feathers, but didn't move much more than that currently. And with her being distracted, she did not notice it. The guard did, but as it were rather odd, he didn't say a thing. He just assumed this were her pet or something.

Spectra would enjoy what he said. Perhaps she would devise a punishment for no reason other than her own enjoyment later? Maybe she'd further remind him of his place? Whatever she would decide on doing she would think so eventually. Right now she had bigger fish to fry, so to speak. Operata were glad she didn't have her attention soley on him. It would be a different case. If they were alone she'd definitely be far less inclined to hold herself back. Operata was quite lucky in that regard.

Still though, she'd brisk by him and turn to him. Her grin growing rather wide and toothy. It was even more unsettling now - she looked like a madmare who was about to go inside. Though she had turned away from Gronth or any other passing visitors, so only he would bare witness to it. Thankfully such an encounter would last less than a few seconds and she would have looked through the gems and valuable items that Gronth had presented in front of her.

Spectra would appear to inspect the other wares for a few moments before she nodded in agreement. "Yes, this will do nicely. No complaints to be had here. Excellent service. I would be sure to show others your way, if given the chance to do so." she would speak as she would bring out an appropriate amount of payment in gold bars as needed by Gronth. If Gronth would allow her to proceed, she'd summon in various gold bars of the appropriate amount. They would appear next to her with a blue flash with glyphs visible on the ground for a split second before vanishing after the spell was complete.

========================================================================================

(Magloria)

Magloria would sit in the back of the carriage with Veil. She would sit next to Veil - but not as close as another pony would. It seemed as though she were a mare who preferred her personal space even if it involved an ally, as it were. Magloria sat there and crossed her hind hooves a bit. Her armor would adorn her rather regal - almost royal looking mare body. Whoever or whatever Magloria did before she was frozen was surely something of significance. She certainly carried herself with a high level of importance.

"I originally thought about freeing them as soon as I found myself freed from stasis lock - however, if I were to do so, Spectra would immediately detect such as massive gap in the amount of magic she has and return there to look. Even if I were to free all of those ponies, she would have enough magic to defeat me in combat." Magloria's eyes narrowed. "If we are to defeat Spectra, we need to do multiple things at the same time. I do not know where the other bases she has are. I only know one. So, we can use Anti-Magic to disable the stasis locks in that one base all at once. We will need to have a massive team of ponies who can help rescue the ponies, and the Anti-Magic will prevent Spectra from using Magic." Magloria would pause. "Though, it would help greatly if there was a way to suddenly attack her without warning, that she did not see coming, to also stun her." she added.

Magloria would glance to the little Phoenix on Veil's head. "In order to truly defeat her...it will require a monumental effort with many many ponies involved. At least that would be my guess." she sighed, her eyes still on the little Phoenix.

Other did notice, as they wandered past, but this were a clear situation of it not involving them, so they didn't care one singular bit. Operata though, did see the gesture, and it made his heart sink, and his face grow a shade paler, for a brief moment. Good things were indeed not in store for him, lest he found some way to redeem himself for what he frankly didn't even find a transgression. It were simply a fair warning.

If she did try to summon cash, then Gronth would rise a paw, and signal for her to stop.

"Krthrk. As we discussed miss, I am simply taking my payment for these things, from what you have earned. What you see here, is what is left, and thus are your change."

He would grab the smaller box, with the gold and jewelry in, and placed it in front of Spectra with a bow. It were a more elegant solution in his mind, than simply having to take give it all, and then working from there with her gold, which is why he had suggested this in the first place, and she had agreed on it. Now if she wanted to give him some tips, that were fine, but not expected, and he would not make presumptions on her behalf.

"Kklkthht. Your change as it were, miss. Certainly I could charge more, and make a more substantial profit, but for a friend of a friend, I would never trade unfairly.

As it sounds like you are satisfied, I would like to thank you for the trade, and if you do have more need of my services in the future, or have others to send, then know that this humble merchant, will be most pleased to be of service. I can assure you, that if I find something peculiar comes in my grasp, or I hear word of something of the sort, I will keep you in mind."

He'd bow deeply before her now, as he gathered his extra arms around his body.

Though there were others who were eager. The sword, sensing her presence, were beckoning to Spectra. Free of the cloth which subdued it somewhat, it were more free to try and connect. Specifically here, a dark laughter would whisper at the edges of her mind, along with a voice, indicating that it were looking forward to seeing what things she might do.

"Klkkktltktx. If it is not too forward, might I ask too, how fare your trip at the market? Have you found Jade Eye, and visited the hut yet?"

========================================================================================

(Magloria)

"That's gonna be a rough plan."

"I-I mean, it makes sense though... RIght?"

The guard had been the first to respond, though his gaze would be out of the window, as he saw the landscape pass them by.

"Yeah, but Equestria's anti-magic is imprinted in metal. We use that for the rings and change, that is used to bind magical criminals. The sort she's talking about, is more like an aura, or wave, and that's not something Equestria's good at, from what I know. That's Trojan tech."

A sense of dread and worry would pulse a few times from Veil, as she heard this frankly troubling tidbit.

"Oh. That... That's n-not good."

"Convincing the princesses to go against some evil within their borders, ain't a big issue. But we're at war with Troy, and Princess Celestia refuse to see eye to eye with them, just like they're refusing to listen, unless they abdicate the throne."

"They m-mentioned that in school sometimes. Though they a-also said that the guards were uhm... N-Not seeing it all that calmly, no offense."

"Eh, the Solar Guards are a bunch of lazy fanatics, and the Night Guard's a tossup. I'm on loan from the Coastal Guard, due to lack of personnel. Even if we've allied with Equestria, we're still impartial on this whole war, and just try to do what we can for the civilians on either side, if we're getting involved. Frankly both the Trojan Consul, and Princess Celestia, are too stubborn about this, but it's an issue above my paygrade."

At this point, the phoenix seemed to finally be inclined to wake up, and would start to move, giving Veil a small shock, as she had completely forgotten that it were there, before it started to rise up, and stretch its wings.

Eyes still closed, it would preen a few down under it's wing, that fell down and landed on Veil's magical surface, before opening its eyes, and look around. The orange gaze, would wander over the assembled two ponies, with some level of confusion, then the bird would look down. And then grab hold tightly with its talons, as it leaned over, allowing it to look right into Veil's *face*, albeit upside down.

Their gaze would be locked, with Veil's emotions radiating confusion, and the emotional equivalent, of holding your breath. She did not know what to expect currently, beyond perhaps a face full of fire.

Eventually, the phoenix would get an inch closer, and start poking her *face* curiously a few times, than scrape its beak against the wood. Which did absolutely nothing, as the pieces of wood on her, were magically reinforced.

"Uh... H-Hello?"

The phoenix would coo, and then straighten itself, before jumping around on her, and poking and prodding a bit more, seemingly curious, or confused, about what it were that it were seeing. Perhaps both, seeing as Veil were not exactly a normal sight, in any sort of way.

"Well uh... At l-least it seems friendly. That's g-good."

Spectra would nod in a pleased manner as she collected the "Change". With a blue strobe of light the "Change" would vanish. She would first take possession of the armor and would proceed to put it on. It seemed that Spectra were taking her time putting the various pieces into place. It were as if she were savoring the moment. Like someone biting into a slice of delicious food - that was the closest feeling to what she were feeling now at the moment. After an extended period of her equipping the armor, she would take a moment to look at herself.

"This will do most nicely." she spoke, being the last living remnant of her former homeland - now adorned with the most powerful armor that was created in it. Spectra were truly a testament to her time.

Looking to the sword, she could feel it's influence calling her towards it. Spectra would take the sword in her magic and equip it. It were interesting to feel it's power. While Spectra may not use it right now, there would surely be moments where it would get it's much desired use. Spectra grinned at this, and would address Gronth's question. "Relations with Jade Eye went rather well. I did not have time to go to the Hut yet. Jade Eye is an amicable sort...if one knows how to treat him." Spectra's lip would raise in a curtly grin. "If that will be all, I'll be seeing you around here in the future." Spectra would state, with a satisfied bow.

(Magloria)

Magloria would close her hooves together in pure thought. A war, between Equestria and Troy? In her time, Troy was a mere city-state on the border of Equestria. It's name barely known. Seems like it's power has expanded exponentially to the point where the two were at war. Magloria quite frankly didn't care about either of their worldviews. She were neither an Equestrian, nor a Trojan. Magloria would sigh, and her eyes would harshen slightly.

"I have no interest in either side. I know nothing about modern affairs so it would not be fair to make an assessment. I am neither Equestrian nor Trojan. Normally I would not tell anything about myself to anyone, but I come from a city called Popsprock. Far beyond Equestria of my time. Lead by Ponies, on the border of the Zebra Tribes. No doubt much has changed." she said, "I guess I am supposed to be a miracle worker," Magloria spoke with dripping sarcasm. "But the key to defeat Spectra means we must get Trojan technology. I am not siding with anyone in this war. That's not my problem. If I were inclined to do anything, it'd be something to stop it from happening. Enough worthlessness occurs in the world as it is, I see one thing hasn't changed." Magloria scoffed and rolled her eyes.

"The Equestrians, if they value anything, will help in the defeat of Spectra. If Spectra were to get her hands on Trojan technology, and absorb such anti-Magic spells for herself? It may be possible for her to invert it, and make it impossible for anyone to cancel out her magic. If such a thing were to happen - it wouldn't matter which nation you had loyalty to. She'd come for you to take all that you have, and call it liberation." Magloria would state, and then would look to Veil.

The little Phoenix had woken up! What a curious creature it was, and a rare one. "Special creatures, they are..." she spoke, not wishing to get more personal than she already had, but she wouldn't lie - it was sort of endearing.

"Krrhtr. You wear it well, miss. A sight to behold, that one will not forget."

Gronth were honestly pleased to see how well she carried it. As well as how the blade did not do anything... Typical, as it were. Though he could swear, that he heard a subtle laughter, and a feeling like something were creeping across his neck. Surely it were but a gust of air. Nothing... N-Nothing more. Truly he would look forward for that thing to be far, far away from him. It had not been subtle about how it disliked him, nor what it were going to do to him, if he dropped it. Seemingly, it had a suitable wielder now, and didn't care about him further, which were good... And yet, that also meant this mare were a good wielder. Another example of why he believed it  good thing, that he treated her with respect, and did not try and cheat her. A mare like that, were going places, and would make a name for herself. Depending on what sort of name, it were wise to be one of the more tolerable and useful, in her eyes.

What had passed, for his friend to have come to work for her... He knew not, but Gronth doubted it were something fully willingly. Not at this point. He wouldn't say so, yet he prayed that his friend would come away from things safely, and would too be seen as a useful sort, if things would indeed happen.

Though he may overthink it, of course. Operata might simply be working with her towards a common goa, and it were more benign than he worried.

"Rrkrtrtxhx. There is naught else. May the stars shine brightly upon your path, miss."

He'd bow once more, and would then return to his store. he had things to handle now. Other clients, more armor, some cash he now had to store up proper- Plenty of things to do, as the two others would get a chance to go to the hut he had mentioned earlier. He wished them well, but if she had handled Jade Eye well, she may have a good chance. One could only hope that.

If they went towards the place where he had mentioned earlier, they'd find a hut covered in various animal skins. On each side of the door, a tall torch stood on either side of the pelt-covered door, flaring calmly in the breeze. There were no sign, name, or indication on what exactly this were, so one would have to enter to find out.

The guard chuckled, though the sound lacked any sort of joy.

"You can't make the war end. More influential and stronger beings than you have tried, but the war springs from an issue, that neither side will back down from. The Trojan demand that Equestria gets democracy, and the princesses refusal to abandon the monarchy.

It's petty, and an unreasonable thing to lose so much life over, but they refuse to listen, and so, the border towns gets involved, picking sides, and causing animosity from those they didn't. Thinking it's theirs, considering it an invasion... Us Coastal Guards originally wanted no part of it, but General Tidal Wave is right. If we aren't there, who'll think of the civilians that both sides so eagerly forget?"

He were not a fan of the war, in any way, but he didn't see an end to this. Long as the princesses, reigned, they wouldn't change the system, and he doubted that Twilight would be the one to end the monarchy either, if she took over. And Troy? Stubborn folks on this matter. There were more to it, he knew, but darn if he knew it. Had to be some sort of personal animosity, towards the ways the princesses did things. At least Celestia. Luna hadn't been part of things in a long time after all, so it were questionable how dirty her hooves were.

"And I dunno how much of what Troy does is magical in nature. From what I've seen, they use technology a fair bit too. For all I know, their anti-magic s fully from some sort of technical side. Not that they'd just share that with anyone. Can't risk that sort getting into the hooves of Equestria and all that."

"This uhm... M-Makes Equestria sound more shady t-than I were taught."

"Every governing body has some dirt. Mark my words, the cleaner someone looks, just means they're better at hiding it."

That were... Concerning to hear honestly, and not something she wanted to ask in to more right now. Simpler to just focus on the phoenix, as it rummaged around on her, and both boked with its beak, and clung in her magic with its talons. Something she definitely felt, but it didn't hurt her physically. Sure did sting though, and the bird seemed to easily enough be able to keep hold.

After a bit, it would flap up, and stand on her legs, whilst looking up towards her. Slowly, Veil would take her right front paw, and get closer to the bird's head, though it moved it away before she could pat it, then turn its head further backwards, exposing its neck to her. At which point Veil would try again, but this time, extending a claw, and scratching the bird gently just below its beak, which seemed to please it more. The coo certainly sounded relieved.

"Uhm... I don't u-understand birds a lot, but-"

"Yes, you're probably stuck with her for now. Once they get interested in you, and judge you worth their time, they get pretty clingy. The females also tend to get pretty jealous and possessive, so watch out around other birds."

Spectra would smirk to Gronth, that uncomfortable grin stretching across her face. "I am pleased to be of service to you. May we meet again." she spoke, and with a parting bow she would proceed away from Gronth and out of earshot. With a blue glow, her new armor and blade would vanish. As well as the necklace. Back into her "Safekeeping". They were safely within her possession after all. After they were out of earshot, she would look to Operata.

"Words, I find, are a waste of time. Your knowledge about this place is remarkable. I suggest you only speak when you have something valuable to say." Spectra would say to him, her eyes narrowing ever so slightly. It was not only a suggestion, but an order. Spectra at least did not chew him out or act entirely unreasonable with him. It was most likely something that he had already knew of from how she interacted with him before but it was safe that she was making it quite clear now.

With that said, unless he felt the need to say anything else - Spectra would lead the way to the hut that she was told about. Spectra would sniff the air and observe the place. No indications as to what it were other than what she was told. Well, there was only one way to find out.

Just like that, Spectra would enter.

========================================================================================

(Magloria)

Magloria would seem to give the guard a dry look at this information, not towards the guard himself but the ideas he spoke of. "So both sides are ran by stubborn fools who are incapable of seeing the value of what they are wasting. Good to know that's another thing that hasn't changed." Magloria would state. She would say more, but did not wish to overtly appear to be supporting either side in this. Magloria was here to appeal to the Monarchs themselves to find aid - and that would require not appealing to the side of the "enemy" in the eyes of Equestrians. Truth be told, Magloria did sympathize with the Trojans. Democracy...though such a thing she did not think were doable, it offered an alternative. Magloria didn't like them at all, to be frank. Maybe that would be something Magloria could work towards after all is said and done with Spectra - ending the war? Though, if it was truly as the guard spoke perhaps it wasn't worth trying.

"It is regrettable we will have to throw our lot in with the Equestrian Monarchy, but they are a lesser evil than that of Spectra. Spectra will destroy everything and completely upset the balance of power in the world if she gets her way. She would cause a far greater war, and her incompetence would only result in needless death. She may have promised a good life in exchange for servitude - but she'll just find a way to lead to further destruction. As she always does." Magloria's eyes focused into Veil's eyes.

"Think of being around for thousands of years, amassing all that power, letting it go to your head. It would fry anyone's sense of reason. She's simply been around for far too long to even realize the glaring holes in her logic." she spoke, and then seemed to lighten up slightly by Veil's comments about the Phoenix though would remain quiet on that for now.

Gronth did not pay much attention to the unsettling nature of the grin. Their transaction were done, and there had no bad blood spilled between them. He doubted that she were going to attack him, and thus, felt little fear. That said, it did make him worry a bit more, about who this were, on behalf of Operata. May he see many starry nights still.

As for Operata... He were thinking this were a test, as well as a warning, when it were that Spectra talked to him, as they moved away. As such, he did not say anything, but simply nodded. It seemed like she might be trying to lure him into saying something, that he would then regret. Could be he were just being overly cautious right now though. Better than then locked in a crystal though.

So he remained quiet, even as they approached the hut, which frankly, he didn't know what to expect from. Sure this had been there a while, but the whole point of not saying what one saw in there in advance, made him concerned, and thus, left it well alone. He didn't even know the race of whomever were running this place.

Spectra would find out though, as she opened the door, and found that the insides looked... Unexpected. Considering the outside, one might think it contained some sort of monster, or at least hunter. The threats made too, certainly said some words as well, but rather, it were looking more like a living room. Some chairs, a nice couch, a table, and a tall chair, in which would sit an elderly minotaur, carving out an apple, whilst humming. Though it were hard to hear the humming part, for the chopping noises that came from the corner, where a pony stood and were chopping away at some slabs of meat. That corner Weren't usually used for this, judging by the hung up plastic, and the thick wooden slab that the pony were chopping the meat on, looking to be put over a sink. Beyond that, this seemed like a typical home of an elderly resident, surrounding herself with things of comfort, as well as a couple of pictures here and there. Some including herself, at various ages.

"Aight, that should be it Mrs. Kragva."

P9fqCMJ.png

The pony twirled the meat cleaver, and stuck it into the wooden slab, then packed up the meat he had been going to work at, in individual packages. The truly fine chopped stuff, would go into their own, weighed off by eye seemingly, but looking to be around the same size, but in the end, all would be stacked neatly, and shortly after deposited into the sink, while he pulled down the plastic, stained by some droplets here and there, and gathered it up with what he were standing on, wrapping it around the chopping block. The cleaver handle would remain lose though. In case he needed it for... Reasons.

"Thank you dear. I know it's a bit out of your way, but it's nice you could do me this favor."

"Nah. I always like giving a helping hoof to you, Mrs. Kragva. And just in time too it seems. Looks like you got customers."

"Ah yes, so it does. Well then, come in you two. Let's see who we have here..."

She'd rise up from the chair, and wander a few steps closer, whilst the pony would make his way out of here, whistling along still. The minotaur would be notably tall, and build robustly, for one her age. Might still be able to use that large cleaver hanging on the wall, with the dried blood around the blade's edge in fact, though she didn't hold that right now. She were merely getting close enough to have a better look.

"Can't say I've seen either of you before, so new faces perhaps? What kind of things might a pair of ponies like you, be after then?"

=============================================================

(Magloria)

"Yeah, that's pretty much what the Trojans say about the princesses too. Been around too long, to have any sort of nuanced look at things anymore. And we've all heard the rumors about the sort of corruption they have going. Grizzly stuff, but it's a headache without end, to try and mediate this. Like you said, both sides are stubborn, and not thinking well about this. Best bet there is to something changing, would be via Princess Twilight. Can't say I think she'd abolish the monarchy, but maybe she'd meet them at the table at least. Princess Celestia's unwilling to even acknowledge Troy is a real country these days, far as I hear.

*sigh* You're gonna have to juggle things well, if you're gonna be trying to use one side to fight, but using the other side's weapons. Can't say I envy you that. But there's a threat to handle, so no way around it, yeah?"

Last the whole scene with the phoenix were a nice reminder of life's small pleasures. Better than this more grizzly, thousand year spanning nightmare.

"Makes a stallion miss the shark wrangling days. Far simpler times."

"You uh... W-Wrangled sharks?"

"It's how we train i Shark Bay. The tourists love seeing it, and it gives both our recruits, and the sharks, some good exercise. You should see the giant squid our current general wrangled though. makes our training session seem as dangerous as oyster farming."

"That's... Disturbing, yet impressive, I suppose. Can I ask something though? What uhm.. W-What to phoenixes eat?"

"Regular bird stuff. They have a fondness for nuts and acorns  though. They'll roast and eat them, if they can get their talons on them. Squirrels hate them."

The guard would look out the window, and see the start of some farming houses appear nearby.

"Seems like we're getting to the outskirts of town soon, where we then have to go take a train onward, to get to Canterlot.

So, either of you ever been there before?"

"I were o-once. We had a school t-trip there. It seemed nice."

"It ain't bad. Makes me miss the salty air of the sea personally though.

And what about you? You say you've been iced for a millennia, but this town's been there for longer. Maybe you've seen the early days then?"

Spectra would enter into the hut and open the door slowly. Spectra had no expectations of what to think was in here. Though she did have a few ideas. Perhaps it could be some sort of ritual ground for blood based magic. That was her best guess. When she opened the door she was greeted with a fairly average sight. One could say too average. It looked far more casual than one would think. Though this did not serve to alleviate any concerns that Spectra had, it was something that only served to heighten them. There was an unsettling nature about this place that had clearly left an impression upon others. Spectra would be sure to proceed with caution.

Looking around the place she had seen an elderly Minotaur who didn't seem much of a threat - but perhaps that was the intention to lure others into a false sense of security. Hearing the chopping noises, Spectra would look upon and see a stallion chopping up some heavy looking meat. Whatever it was, perhaps it wasn't best to know. Meat eating was always generally a taboo for ponies for cultural reasons, at least in Equestria. Spectra herself wasn't entirely against it. Though she didn't particularly care for it either.

Spectra would remain quiet and observant until she was noticed by either of them, and would calmly look to the minotaur. "We are after anything you have to offer, I suppose. Even if we may not have anything of suitable trade, I would at least like to know what this place is - if you do not mind me saying. My name is Spectral Fade." Spectra spoke, calmly. With a glance to Operata, it was clear she gave him permission to introduce himself.

Magloria's eyes would narrow and she would sigh at what the stallion told her. "On one hoof you have unreasonable monarchs who say an entire nation doesn't exist, and on the other you have those who want to change something that clearly isn't going to change. Both are to blame for the state of affairs." Magloria huffed slightly and looked up at the sky with a sort of resolute expression across her face. "Be that as it may, it shall not divert or distract from the task at hand. It must be done. Or it could very well mean the beginning of something...worse." Magloria would sit up, letting herself look into the stallion's eyes for a moment as she spoke that.

Magloria would remain quiet while they talked about the stallion's past - though the shark wrangling was something that elicited slight interest from her though it did not warrant enough for her to directly comment on it, though the last question he had did. "The Early days, well over a thousand years ago were far less populated. There were far less ponies in the world, as opposed to now. Towns were smaller, but more spread out. I sailed the Ocean Blue and did my duty, rarely would others be encountered. The Princesses were around, more revered as Gods rather than Monarchs. Troy, and the other various Pony nations that bordered Equestria were more advanced than Equestria was, at the time. Though seemingly many of them have been lost to time as Equestria has evidently ballooned in power beyond what was considered possible." Magloria spoke, calmly.

"Sugarville. I visited here back then, though it was not called Sugarville. It was called Everlast. I am not sure what prompted the name change, but I can clearly see that all of the buildings in this town look nothing like what it once was."

"And my name is Operata. I work for her."

He had picked up on the hint, and acted on it, but didn't say much more than he had to. His attention laid elsewhere. On some of the pictures to be exact. There were something... Familiar, about what he were seeing, and he were trying to place it in his head.

"Hmm, can't say I've heard of you, but perhaps I will later.

As for what this is? It is my home, but since it sounds like you are here for business, I should probably explain more. My grandson have been rather protective of me, since I moved here. Makes others not want to talk too much of here, in case they catch his ire. But the locals tend to just send those who needs something still, so I am guessing you are after something of power? What kind would that be? Physical? Magical? Transformative? Controlling? Primordial? A lifetime of adventure, left me finding and stealing many powerful things.

I kept them for myself for a long time, but age presses on, and I need the coin more than the memories, so I sell them off these days. Give others a chance to chase their own dreams."

She'd go and have a seat, while Operata had a glimmer of recognition in his eyes, and his expression went pale. Even more than when he had been worried about offending Lady Astra.

"Aaah. So then. What power do you desire, Spectra?"

"There's more to it than that, but that's the current state of things, yes. Propaganda on each side too, and frankly, for us standing in the middle, it's every bit as foolish of a war as it sounds."

Not something you could just say to the regular Solar and Night guards though. Nor the Trojans. But that's the propaganda and bias parts that went in. The Coastal Guard were able to look at things neutrally, as they had been created as a neutral faction, after the siren sisters had devastated the coast lines, and the need to protect their shores became obvious.

It were less than a hundred years ago, that they started to work more closely, as a part of the Equestrian government. A controversial decision at the time, which caused a large part that wanted to remain independent, to break off, and make base in South Point. The general at the time, had figured it would be the best way for the royal guards, and the princess, to take them serious, and listen to them, as well as gain some funding they might have need for. At this stage though, that general were mostly seen as a well meaning, but short-sighted buffoon, and the decision to mingle more with the official army, being one that had several issues attached. Especially after the war with Troy escalated.

Their current general though, were right when she pointed out, that they could do even less for the civilians if they broke off right now. They'd have no alliance from Equestria, and the Trojans would still see them as affiliated, so them showing up in the war zones, would just cause issues, that would end up taking lives. So for now, they'd work with the other generals, and be in the areas to help. Most Trojans at least knew that while they were still technically Equestrians, The Coastal Guard would be far more fair and merciful to them, than the Royal Guards. And they had literal cages hanging over shark infested water, for their worst criminals. What did that tell ya?

Of course, this could all be prevented in large parts, if the other generals did not play well with Tidal Wave, but both General Screecher, and General Dew, were probably the most sensible, reasonable generals that had graced their positions, in hundreds of years. They listened, they understood the need to minimize civilian casualties, and as such, they did not intervene, and allowed the Coastal Guard to join them. Besides, they knew the value, in having reinforcements at the ocean, if things turned dire.

"Well, if it's any consideration, Equestria's still less technologically advanced, than many other places surrounding it. Things here are pretty traditional in some ways still."

"What about Center Zero?"

"Urgh, that place... The famed town of scientists, that the princess sends the smartest beings in the country to, to work on what advancements she deems suits the country best. Including various weapons, used against the Trojans.

I still say it's a spooky tale, and nothing more. Those smart ones going missing sometimes, are just taking off to other places, that appreciates their work more. Like Dr. Leaf Howler. I hear she went to Caneighda."

"Well yes, she did. She wrote a book too, and it talked about how she had to flee the country, because she were being offered to join Center Zero, and feared for her safety. A-Apparently, the alternative to accepting, were... Less than pleasant. We didn't get told more than that in class."

"Huh, news to me. Been no news of a book from her here, but if it's critical of the kingdom, then I guess that makes some sense. Can't be more than a half dozen years ago that book were made though. It were only six years ago I heard she took off. What sorta class taught about that?"

"History class. It were... The book was new, and it were brought up as example of caution, and not believing everything we heard, about how perfect Equestria were. It were only fourth grade though, so we weren't told the grizzly details."

"Fourth... Wait, how old are you?"

The guard suddenly seemed to perk up. Not in a happy way, but more of a *bracing for bad news* sort of way.

"I... I'm thirteen. I was ten when D-Duke Mindstorm did this to me."

"...That's messed up."

He didn't really know what else to say about that. What could one really say there. This were still a teenager, and she had been turned into whatever this was, as a child? What the hay were going on in the world sometimes?

A few seconds of awkward silence passed, with the phoenix cawing to end it, now demanding to be scratched on the back, and around her wings. A good chance in the guards eye, to change the subject.

"It got changed to Sugarville after it were rebuild. There were some ruins here, after a monster attack, centuries ago. The town you knew, were probably that. Were some rather nasty years back then, with the siren sisters, and a lot of other things happening in a short time span. Several smaller towns were completely crushed. Sugarville came on later, when they wanted to resettle the now calmer areas around the country, Some places have an abrupt history like that. That's the story with a few places at least, along the coast. We're still trying to rebuild some of the towns that were crushed when the sirens first terrorized the country, and some from other things, like the land sharks a few years back, that really did a number on the east side of Shark Bay.

And yes, I said land sharks. Those things were swimming through dirt and rock like it were water, and hit like rampaging beasts. We still don't know where they came from. We'd probably have blamed Discord, if it hadn't happened a half year before he escaped from his statue. Seems the sort of thing he'd find funny."

Spectra would listen with an un-nerving grin across that face of hers. "Biological Power. Something that enhances the senses. Bodily alterations, that are not so much physical but mental...resulting in higher focus, strength, and reaction time. That would be the first thing I would list. If not that, then it would be something Primordial - that most do not know of." Spectra would say calmly, looking into the female Centaur's eyes. Spectra spoke, allowing those words to settle within the Centaur's mind as she calmly take a seat as she looked to the Centaur female respectably.

"Many have crossed through these parts with many stories to tell. Many things to trade." Spectra spoke, part of her wanted to touch on her exchange with Gronth but she figured it was for the best to not speak about anything she involved herself in outside the confines of this area. The less others know about her, the better. "I suppose I can say the same such as yourself. I have a lot of things I have gathered, over the years. I am looking to lighten the load - and put the money within the body who owns the wealth." she spoke, pointing to herself.

"The body, the physical vessel is where the matters matter the most. This body, while it is great - I would be curious, actually...now that it crossed my mind - would it perhaps be possible to exchange this body of mine, for something... far greater? Looking within the realms of this world, I see that many things are possible...would it not be possible to re-animate the physical body of a fallen Princess, Alicorn, or noble....converting my current body into something akin to a battery to fuel that..." she pondered outloud, casually. She were truly testing the waters here with some quite frankly, outlandish statements. But many strange things happened here. Perhaps it wasn't that unusual. Spectra could easily put her body into stasis and add it to her collection, so to speak.

"There's more to it than that, but that's the current state of things, yes. Propaganda on each side too, and frankly, for us standing in the middle, it's every bit as foolish of a war as it sounds."

Magloria would nod. "I prefer the same, really. I will have to play both sides of this, somehow - but like I said, Spectra being dealt with will have to be done by Equestrian Authorities, as this is an Equestrian Matter." Magloria spoke cooly, it was the absolute truth after all.

Now that she had thought of it in depth - she had more of a reason to side with the Trojans. Magloria always had contempt for the Monarchy of Equestria, even in her day. She saw them as self absorbed and selfish. Though this view of hers was not so geared towards anything fluffy like "Democracy" seems to be. If it was possible for the Monarchs to Abdicate and for Equestria to become something of a Republic in which the able minded folk make decisions it would be something she would agree with. If at the very least, it would be that Celestia and Luna abdicate the throne and abandon their claims on Troy, recognizing them as an independent nation.

In Magloria's time, most nations were Monarchies of some kind. You had the Equestrians of course - then you had the old Trojan Monarchy, that evidently had been overthrown at some point in the past 1500 years that she's been in stasis for. Spectra's homeland of Arcadia was a highly prominent Monarchy, but it seems like Arcadia is long dead to history by this point. There were the various other races, such as the Zebras, Rams, and all the others. The idea of Monarchy this day and age though? Felt sort of antiquated, though Magloria understood why it existed. Able minded leaders leading for a lifetime was ideal, but the whole fanfare over it was just quite frankly something that got in the way of reasonable thinking. These Trojans...they were certainly onto something, though that didn't mean that Magloria thought they were perfect. Far from it. She'd have to wait until she actually meet with them at some point in the future to decide her full thoughts.

Stuck between two differing ideas, Magloria would have to play ball with the Equestrians to get Spectra taken care of. Maybe this was her future? Making a difference in...diplomacy? Or she could just throw that away, and go back to what she did before. Exploring, as a Ship Captain. If she were to do that this time around, perhaps she'd fly the Trojan flag...or simply go off on her own, without intentions on aligning with anyone. If only that were possible. To just live and do as you did without getting wrapped up in the problems of others.

All that mattered was that the blue mare could make a difference. While she weren't an alturistic or hopeful sort - she still realized that she had a part to play.

Quote

"I... I'm thirteen. I was ten when D-Duke Mindstorm did this to me."

Magloria would have listened throughout this whole conversation. Center Zero. Sounds like quite the place where technology was invented and used. If only such a thing could be used for other purposes, like things that actually mattered and not the petty squabbles of monarchs from many centuries ago. At least it seemed like the smartest ones did not seem to fall in line with that kind of thinking, and go elsewhere. There were far worse things than the Equestrian Monarchs and their desires - the fact that Malevolence existed out of Duke Mindstorm's relentless pursuit of power was a testament to that. The Equestrians at least had standards, however flawed they may be. They did not corrupt and destroy for the seek of advancing power for the sake of power's sake. Spectral Fade...Magloria wanted to think she was not like Malevolence, though in the past 1500 years with that sort of isolation and mindset? Such a thing seemed more likely, unfortunately. Spectral Fade needs to be sent to Tartarus itself. For good.

When Veil mentioned she was only thirteen, did the reality of the situation set in more than it already had. Veil was young, doing something that someone her age should never ever be doing under any circumstances. She should be playing with other fillies, or whatever thirteen year olds do. "...If you were any other of that age, I would look for someone who could adopt you. After Spectra was dealt with, you'd need to find a way to restore the life that was stolen from you. Mindstorm did this to you. Spectra did...this to me." Magloria would wave her hooves in the air, seemingly referencing everything as a way to refer to the sheer passage of time itself. "I'd much rather you run along and play with those your age, but something tells me you wouldn't be capable of that. I'm way out of your league." Magloria huffed, though she did feel a sense of...responsibility for this one's well being, as odd as it was to think. Magloria were clearly not a sentimental mare, or a loving mare at all - but she still cared. For what it's worth.

"Rampaging. War. Destruction. How little things change, really. Towns and cities rise and fall, nations change names and become taken over by others. I would wonder why it is named Sugarville, though. Seems like an odd name for a coastal town." Magloria stated, and sighed. Then she thought it fitting to mention the part with "land sharks", whatever that was. "I would claim that you are joking about that, but it sounds stupid enough to be true. This world does have a sense of insane stupidity and inane interactions that make no sense." then she narrowed her eyes, "Discord Escaped? I would hope he was turned back to stone." she huffed, having heard of the legends of Discord. Yeah, such a thing did sound like something that he would be doing.
