What do people usually say about your accent?

I've never gotten any negative comments on my accent, nor have I gotten compliments. I've been told I have a southern US accent and at other times I've been told I have a midwestern US accent. :BornAgainBrony: I dunnooooo.

No one really says anything about the way I speak  The closest thing to that is asking me to say certain words and commenting something along the lines of "it sounds like you have an accent," and getting mocked for pronouncing WH- with the H

I don't think I have much of an accent (as far as the different US accents go, obviously I do have a US accent versus English or Australian). We shall see when I move lol.

I have a specific way of speaking Spanish. Duh I was raised by Colombian parents. Anyways there I was in a cool Puerto Rican restaurant and we needed take home boxes for leftovers. So I go up to these guys and ask for a box in Spanish and they start laughing at me and go “you’re Colombian aren’t you” (in Spanish) like what?? I go full straight face mode (bright red) and just ask for what I needed in English. Sooo embarrassing…

My parents have often been told that people love their accents. Me? Since I don't interact with people all that often, I don't really get any comments.

I’ve lived in all parts of the US so I don’t have one specific accent. If anything they all mix together and come out somewhat neutral. Once in a while, if someone points out a bit of southern accent (which I fight against with all my strength) I feel embarrassed and reinforce my efforts to purge it from my speech. I have plenty of speech characteristics, but as far as accents, that’s about all.

No one has ever said anything to me about it but that’s because the majority of people I associate with have the same accent, that being North American. I have heard that people who are from a country that speaks a different language like Germany say that Americans have their own accents.

In my native language I have a barely recognizable regional accent. If I speak english, then I have a strong accent. Not many ppl commented on it, and nobody said anything negative about my accent and I think ppl are okay with it
