Storyline:

As your OC arrives at the gathering spot, they can see the starting line, a hot air balloon, empty seats to sit in the crowd, as well as other ponies gathering to either watch or participate.

There are serval things that you can do in this situation.

They are able to:

Interact with other participants taking part in the race.

Head on over to Dynamo Pad, who's standing near a desk full of numbers to hand out to the participants.

Do something else.

It's completely up to your OC on what you'd like to do, before the race begins. Once everyone has their numbers, everyone can line up at the starting line for the race to begin.

As you all make your way towards the location of the race for this years, Running of the Leaves. You can see many things when taking a look around the area. Bleachers for spectators, a pink hot air balloon tied to a post sitting and ready to fly. Ponies and other creatures begin to make their way over to take their seats. Popcorn, cotton candy and other delectable treats and beverages in their possession.

Meanwhile, the host of the event, Dynamo Pad, is looking around frantically to make sure that he has everything he needs for the race. "O-Okay, let's see. Number paper for everypony to wear to give out their numbers in the race? Check! Commentators to have a bird's eye view of the race? Check! Everything set up in perfect condition to meet racing requirements?" He asks, looking around to see the starting line, banners and everything one could think of for this year's Running of the Leaves. "Check!" He exclaimed, checking off each box to make sure nothing was out of place. "Okay! All we need now are the participants and then we'll be all ready to go. I just hope that everything works out." He took a breath as he tried to exhale slowly. He would be lying if he was saying that he was perfectly calm. He could feel his heart racing a mile a minute and he wasn't even taking part in the race. He would keep repeating a mantra in his head that everything would be fine and to take things one step at a time.

[Shiny Silvermoon]

*As @Dynamo Pad was trying to remain calm, Shiny Silvermoon trotted up to him with a gleeful expression stamped on her face. She noticed the anxiety of her friend and wanted to reassure him.*

"Don't worry, Dyny! I'm sure that everything will go flawless! If not, you can count on me to make sure that everything ends well and that everypony reach the finish line safe and sound!"

*She smiled to him, a caring smile, before changing the topic.*

"Anyway! Can I have my number?"

As a voice reached his ears, Dynamo blinked in surprise, before turning towards the source of the voice. He was greeted by @Shiny Silvermoon, who looked very ecstatic with taking part in the race. "H-Hey, Shiny and it's great to see you. I-I'm guessing that you're interested in taking part in the race?" He would have asked more, but stopped as he heard the reassurance in her voice. Taking a deep breath, he felt as if some weight was lifted off of his shoulders. He was still nervous, but the reassurance made him have hope that things would work out. "T-Thank you, Shiny and I really appreciate it. I hope everypony will be able to cross the finish line, but I guess it would be depending on how the race goes. Sounds like we'll be having a lot of competition this year." He smiled as he grabbed a number for the Unicorn mare. 

"Oh, of course! Here you are, Shiny. That'll be one free hug, please! Good luck and have fun in the race!" He responded, giving Shiny Number 1 to place upon her.

[Slipstream]

*As @Shiny Silvermoon and @Dynamo Pad conversed, Slipstream tightened his harness and topped off his apple juice. He wanted to make sure he remained firmly on the ground.*

*He walked over happy to see Dynamo.*

"Hey dude! How's everything going? I see you're stressed so I won't ask for a long conversation involving our pokemon, but I wanted to tell you that Latias said she believes in you. Anyways, can I get a number 37?"

As he presented Shiny with her number, he noticed our of the corner of his eye, a green pegasus stallion had been making his way over to his desk. "Hey, Slipstream and it's good to see you. I take it that you'll be participating in the race?" He asks, before tilting his head in confusion at the mention of Pokemon. "I hope that we can work out on some teams in the future. I know of the new regulation coming out soon, so it'll be fun to give that a try." He explained, given that he tried keeping up with the tournaments that would be around Equestria. Upon hearing Latias, he couldn't help in smile with a nod. "Thank you and please tell Latias that I said thank you, as well. Here's number 37 for you, as well. That will be one free hug, please."

*I hugged @Dynamo Pad tightly, before waving at him, while trotting to the starting line. Once behind the line, she looked down at the Number 1 with pride, knowing that she was the first arrived for this event. She was excited to see her friends joining her at the starting line.*

I make my way over to Dynamo, excited to finally participate in the Running of the Leaves. Yes, I had been in Ponyville for 7 years, now, but I had wanted to get situated, get to know everypony, and just get settled. Now I finally feel like I've settled enough, I can participate. I've spectated this event all the years I've been here, so I know what to expect and how this is run. I approach Dynamo and two other ponies.

"Good morning, Dynamo. I'm ready to participate this year!" I can feel his slight nervousness as I greet him. "Nervous, eh? Not to worry, as the Princess, I shall help in any way you need me to."

After seeing Slipstream zip over towards the starting line, the gaming unicorn turned to see a newcomer make her way over towards the desk. Seeing the eagerness on her face made the blue unicorn grin in trying to match that same level of excitement. "Good morning, Lucky Fire! It's really nice to see you and it looks like someone is ready to race! I'm really happy to see that you'll be participating this year." He started, before blinking at her response of him feeling nervous. "W-What? Nervous? Me? N-No...I mean..." He started, sputtered, before taking a breath and sighing with a slight sheepish grin.

"W-Was it really that obvious?" He understood that he was feeling nervous, but he had to remember that everyone was here to have fun. Hearing her declaration as Princess helped to ease the worries in his heart. "T-Thank you, Princess and I'll be sure to do my best. I think this is going to be a fun event this year. It looks like we're going to get even more participants, so I'm excited to see how the competition looks." He started, pulling out the number 76 for Lucky Fire. "Here you go, Princess Lucky! That'll be one free hug please."

[Lucky Fire]

"I'm psychic, I can feel others' feelings. So if it was obvious, I'm unsure. I have all the faith in the world in you. You'll do just great." I give him a reassuring smile before receiving my number and placing it upon my flank. "Thank you." I give him a hug.

[Skylight Scintillate 2,019]

Skylight would wander over to where @Dynamo Pad was preparing for the race. 

"Dynamo! You're managing the running of the leaves this year? That's cool. How's it going?" Skylight asked as she hugged her friend.

Upon learning that Lucky was psychic, Dynamo blinked in surprise as he looked at her with awe. "Wait, you are? Is that through magic, or is that because of your special talent? Either way, that's honestly really cool and really interesting." He nodded in understanding upon her explanation of feeling the feelings of others. As he was given his hug, he hugged her back as he gave her an honest smile. "You're welcome and I should honestly be thanking you. I promise that I'll do what I can and that everyone in the event has as much fun as possible."

As he pulled back from Lucky's hug, he looked over and smiled upon seeing Skylight had made her arrival. "Sky!" He exclaimed, reaching her halfway as he hugged Skylight back. "It's really good to see you. I thought you were in Canterlot the last time we had talked. As for your questions, in order: Eeyup I am! I heard that the Ponyville committee team needed help with the Running of the Leaves this year and I knew I couldn't pass up on that. It's always a fun tradition and it's going pretty well. Just feeling nervous, but I'm having hope that it all goes well. How about you? How have you been, Sky? Are you perhaps taking part in the race?" He asks, motioning for her to follow him as he started heading back towards the desk to prepare a number for her.

[Lucky Fire]

"It's my special talent and also my title as Princess. I'm the Princess of Prophecy. My powers are many. I have visions of the future or past, vision projection in the moment via my horn, white fire conjuration and control, I can make walls and protective barriers with it, too. I can extinguish any fire, not just my white fire, by a wave of my hoof. I can sense presences and danger, I can read minds and read my white fire. I know what someone is feeling, as I had already mentioned, I also know if someone is lying or telling the truth, I know someone's true intentions, be they bad or good intentions.

"I can see inanimate objects' memories, I can tell if someone's under a spell, I can communicate with thought back and forth with others. I can pyroport, which is teleporting through my white fire. I can take, alter, replace, and fabricate memories if need be. I can do projections of past things that happened in 3rd person, and finally, I can tell if I guess something right or wrong in certain circumstances. So, my special talent is not only being psychic, but also white fire magic. I'm sorry, that was probably a lot to take in."

*Moonlight Wane would approach the gathering spot, flying from the direction of the forest. He was looking at the path below, trying to estimate how difficult the race would be this year. While unlikely to give him an advantage, he always liked to be prepared.*

*After reaching the gathering spot, he would see some familiar faces already there. He waved to his friends, before standing in line behind the last pony to get his number.*

"Well I hope this event goes well for you. I'd figure I would participate in this event even though I'm not good at running. Oh, and I'm doing pretty good. Thanks for asking."

The alicorn would glance around to see if there were any other ponies she recognized. She would recognize Moonlight and Shiny and wave to them.

Dynamo made sure to listen intently as Lucky had explained about her special talent, as well as her title as Princess. "I've actually been trying to learn elemental magic, but it's been a work in progress. I don't think I've ever heard of white fire before. Unless this is something that is only recently discovered." He wondered, being fascinated in her abilities. "Please don't apologize as is honestly really interesting. It appears that you have a lot of spells and abilities in your repertoire. It shows how resourceful you are and I hope to learn a lot through gaming magic." He responded with a smile in both honesty and fascination.

From the sound of flapping wings, the gaming unicorn looked up to se the descent of a blue bat pony arriving on the scene. Upon realizing who it was, Dynamo smiled as he gave the bat pony a wave, before making his way over towards Moonlight. "Hey, Moonlight! I'm glad that you were able to make it! How are you doing and how was the flight over?" He started to ask, before he heard music began to play as Shiny had sung a familiar tune. "Nooooooo! That song is going to get stuck in my head! I...oh, well. I mean, to be fair. That song is honestly really catchy." He couldn't help in chuckling as he tapped his hoof to the beat. Normally, he would try and dance, but he still had a job to do. It still wouldn't stop him from getting into the groove of the song.

"You can say that again as I remember receiving letters from you from different places in Equestria." He would say, recalling @Lucky Fire, who he had noticed once or twice around town in Ponyville, but he never had the opportunity to chat. "Thank you and I'm hoping this all goes well, too. I'm not the best at running, but I would have taken part in the event, as well. Although, I was tasked with watching over the event. So, maybe another opportunity will present itself." He smiled, before reaching for a number for the light blue alicorn. "I think you'll do great and it's all about having fun and helping to make the leaves fall. I'm glad to hear that you're doing well and you're welcome! Oh, before I forget. Here's your number for racing. Good luck and have fun, Sky!" He would say, handing Skylight the number 42. Normally, he'd ask for a free hug, but Skylight had given him a hug. So, the hug payment had been made in advance.

Upon handing out Skylight her number, Dynamo had thought he had seen a portal close as soon as it had just appeared. All the while, seeing a red alicorn make her appearance. "Uh...am I the only one that saw a portal just now?" He tilted his head in confusion as he couldn't make heads or tails on it. However, he felt it was better to not ask any questions as he gave the alicorn mare a nod. "Hello! Are you here for the race?" He asks, before realization had dawned upon him. "Actually, you asked what number will you get. So, my previous question was probably an obvious answer. That's my bad!" He chuckled sheepishly, before presenting the number to Anarchylight. "You get number 61! That'll be one free hug, please. Oh, I don't think we've met before, have we? My name is Dynamo Pad, but you can call me Dynamo. What's your name?"

[Lucky Fire]

"My white fire is the other half of my special talent. My cutie mark is a white fire flame with a 4-leaf clover in the middle. Also, to the Canterlot thing, I live here in Ponyville. I mean, if you can learn elemental magic, that'd be great. But if you learn fire magic, it won't be white or any other color. Pretty sure your special talent dictates what color fire you'd conjure up, like it is for me. What is your special talent, by the way, if you don't mind me asking."
