Cutie Re-Mark wasteland

Why did The Cutie Re-mark turn Equestria into a barren wasteland in the last timeline? Do you think ponies are still alive in this universe? What caused this to happen? What's with the harmony tree in this timeline?

For me what happened was the most obvious, The End of Times, Earth became a inhospitable place, all life forms were taken away. What caused it is the question though, maybe some kind of nuclear war, I know in this world there isn't something like that, but I imagine ponies could do something similar to it with magic.

But my major theory is, I imagine that maybe it was a timeline where all of the villains showed up at the same time (all of them, much worse than how it was in Season 9, maybe only Stygian wouldn't be there), the Mane Six weren't there, and Discord still wouldn't be good enough to make the villains work together to make things a bit controlled, so all of them fought each other and destroyed everything. 

As for the Tree of Harmony, since the mane six weren't formed in this timeline, I imagine that the Tree would be in the same state it was in "Princess Twilight Sparkle", it would be affected by Discord's seeds, destroy everything with its roots, and of course, it would capture Celestia and Luna, which would only make it easier for the villains to attack Equestria, as the two princesses wouldn't be there to fight them.

So mix all of these, All Villains Attacking the ponies and Equestria at the same time + Them Fighting Themselves + No Mane Six to help + No Powerful Alicorns to Help (maybe only Cadance, but of course it wouldn't work) + Destruction Caused by the Corrupted Tree of Harmony, and you have pretty much the recipe for end of the world. Let's also not forget the Windigos, maybe the 3 races disagreeing with each other also helped the mass extinction to happen.

Though I have my doubts if the Tree is really dead in this timeline, the series already showed us that the Tree is technically immortal, but maybe it needs a lot of living beings living in harmony to keep it alive, so without anyone, it ultimately came to death ~☆

Nope, no one escapes the rapture.

The only ones who would survive would be the Pillars and Stygian, as they would be trapped on limbo, but time and life don't exist there, so it would be the same as death for them

Хотя я сомневаюсь, что Дерево действительно умерло в этой временной линии, сериал уже показал нам, что технически Дерево бессмертно, но, возможно, ему нужно много живых существ, живущих в гармонии, чтобы поддерживать его жизнь, поэтому без них оно в конечном итоге умерло ~☆

I think 2 possibilities:

1 = that still has to happen in the Nightmare moon timeline 

2 = Nightmare Moon simply found a way to deal with it, maybe she destroyed the Tree, just like Sombra did. Maybe that's what happened to the Tree in the Wasteland timeline too.

think she found a way, but not exactly destroying the harmony tree. If she had destroyed the harmony tree, Equestria would inevitably have been swallowed up by the black thickets that Discord had sown. There are no black plants visible in the Nightmare Moon timeline

I generally think that the Nightmare Moon timeline is the calmest and safest of all. Ponies even go on excursions to her castle. Just praise Nightmare Moon and you'll be fine.
