What do you use to draw/sketch ponies?

I sometimes use MSPaint, but most people say it's crap.

Since I bought an iPad not too long ago, I have been using SketchBook Pro, and that has been working pretty good for me.

Should I just stick with SketchBook Pro on my iPad?

Is there any other painting programs for Windows?

And tell me, is GIMP still any good? The last time I used it was back in high school a few years ago.

If GIMP is still good, is there any way for me to re-learn it?

Sai

Gimp and

Photoshop are the only ones i recommend.

MSPaint is horrid, to be honest.

I usually use Inkscape, because i do vector art mostly.

Like Hypno said, inkscape is your best option for vector art. I am still learning it, but its better than MSpaint!

Gimp is A LOT better now than it used to be. It's amazing how much the single window mode helps. Here are a list of good ones though. I've stared the ones I particularly like:

*Gimp - free, photo editing tool

Paint.NET - free, photo editing tool, a lot easier to use than Gimp, though less powerful

*MyPaint - free, painting tool

*Krita - another free painting tool

Artweaver - A painting program with both a free and commercial version

Paint Tool Sai - ~$70, apparently awesome painting tool

*Photoshop - really expensive, photo editing tool

Corel Painter 11 - Painting tool, really cool but really expensive

*Inkscape - free vector program

*Illustrator - another Adobe program, this time a vector editor

Corel Draw - another vector program.

EDIT: and as for sketchbook pro, why not use both that and other things?

I just use traditional methods. Mainly drawing on a piece of paper with pencil and later inking it in with pen. Sometimes I doodle around on the flipnote hatena app for the DSi but those never get uploaded lol

You have Illustrator for your vector needs, Photoshop for your gradient shading needs, Corel Painter because it's there and SAI if you want all of the above.

Really? I never got to use it, since I have a 3DS... sucks for me.

BTW, you should upload them, I bet they are totally cool!

I was told that the 3DS still had the flipnote app and there were more colors other than black red and blue but I was lied to :/ And I'm reluctant on giving that up but I also want the new Kingdom Hearts game and the new Adventure Time games coming out soon. It's a tough decision lol I have an original bulky DS but I doubt that'd get me any discount if I traded that in and got a 3DS :P

I only have a few ponies actually drawn on there, but I'm planning on uploading some characters I've drawn.

Well,

Paint.NET, GIMP, MyPaint, Photoshop, Paint Tool SAI (Photoshop and Paint Tool SAI are the best ones, but they cost money)

for drawing

Inkscape for vector art.

I use gimp for all of my artwork. Its a very nice alternative to Photoshop and its free. Although it has very limited vector support and for vectoring i would go with inkscape
