its also quite factual, B-17s where renowned for there durability and defensive capability (the Germans called it the flying porcupine on account of no safe angles of attack) one B17 on a recon mission in the Pacific theater encountered somewhere between 7 and 11 zeros, the B17 won by being the only airplane that was both still flying and still had ammo (and working guns) plus at least one guy in good shape who was able to fly the plane by the end of the battle
