I CAN nullify (and absorb) any shadow/darkness elemental epic spell, as I possess an epic feat which allows me to do so. Epic magic can beat epic magic.

Well, yeah, except there are more Epic beings casting the spell, and thus your Epic feat cannot successfully absorb the spell, as it gets out-epiced.

I can control the stuff as easily as I can control my own limbs. If every shadow god in all of existence teamed up to cast this one shadow elemental spell, I could still absorb and nullify it. (also, absorbing their combined magic would make me nigh-omnipotent, but that's neither here nor there.) My control over the shadow is absolute!

The difference is you are a mortal. The gods just are, and always have been, you don't have the means to power your own magic, no being with mortal origins can.

I wasn't born in a universe with those rules. Where I was born, there were no gods, and each and every person derived their magic from their own souls. When I became powerful enough to travel between dimensions, I of course kept my own soul with me, which of course still generates it's own supply of magic power. So yes, I don't need any of your silly gods to cast magic.
