BronyCAN: First Canadian Brony Convention

NostalgicPony

Recommended Posts

To all the people in the East (mostly talking about the Toronto area): There are are a lot of things in the eastern parts of Canada that we dont have. When I want to see a band live, they go there, not here. A lot of things go there and not here. I do believe that a brony convention will happen over there since there is a demand for one, but please let the people in BC or Alberta enjoy this opportunity because for once its in the west. With this post, I am not talking to the person from Nova Scotia. What I am basically saying is to hold on, be patient and not to be like "stupid convention, we never get anything in the east". I am not posting this to target anyone or to accuse anyone, I just want there to be peace on this topic

For those of you in the east unable to attend BronyCAN, there is CANterlot being set up in Toronto as well as TROTtawa, both happening in November. Just FYI.

Oh god  :P

Those puns  :derp:

Neither of those cons seem to get VAs. Perhaps next year. Tara Strong and Andrea Libman are going to be at Fan Expo Canada in Toronto this summer so anyone who wants to see them in Ontario you can surely check that out.

Especially for Tara Strong, because I know she refuses to go to any brony convention now due to the incident with that one convention (I forgot the name). Unless shes changed her mind about it.

Ah yes, Unicon. I just read about that. Well let's hope BronyCAN doesn't end up like that (I highly doubt it will). At least they didn't invite 20 different special guests and got their names all wrong.

Just giving y'all a reminder that con book submissions are due on July 28th at 11:59 PM Pacific. That's exactly three days from now; likewise, graphics for your ad must be in by August 4th at 11:59 PM Pacific.

http://bronycan.com/advertise.html

Also a reminder that our special discount rate of $129 per room night (using code "BRONYCAN") expires on August 3rd. After that date the price on a hotel room will jump significantly, and you will not be eligible to receive freebies (a free gift basket of pony merch, an entry into our Hotel Booking Draw, and free Wi-Fi, airport shuttle, and parking), so you may wish to reserve your room now if you haven't done so yet:

http://bronycan.com/hotel.html

Lastly, our panel submission deadline has been extended to August 2nd. If you submitted your idea to us through e-mail prior to July 2013 it will not be accepted. Please view this spreadsheet for dates and times available and then submit to us here:

Despite an earlier posting, we've extended our arrangement with the hotel, thus the "BRONYCAN" discount code is still in effect! The code, along with all freebies - gift basket, contest entry, airport shuttle, WiFi, parking - will remain in effect at least up until con.

Also, if you're coming to our con from the United States, we think these two pages may help you out with your planning:

I'd go if I could. I live on Vancouver Island (Victoria) and I highly doubt I'd be allowed to go to Vancouver for a Brony convention.. ^_^

Edit: Well, I told my friend about BronyCan and she's all for it. So nevermind, I may attend, in that case

Carpooling is always a good idea! :D Besides the fact that you can divi up the costs across a couple people, you now have friends to attend the con with! :D

But I think (personally) the best part of conventions is talking with people you don't know and making friends while you're there. For the last 2 years going to Bronycon I've made a lot of connections with some really great people!

Make sure you only bring as much money as you're willing to spend. The vendor area always stresses your wallet. I tried to show self control this weekend at BronyCon but I ended up spending all 150$ USD that I brought to keep myself from going into debt.

Due to professional obligations beyond our control, we regretfully announce that Andrew Francis is no longer attending BronyCAN as a special guest. We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may have on our attendees.

I kind of wish I could go. Considering how much fun @ BronyCon. Although, I don't think my wallet will approve of this trip. No conventions for me for awhile.

I've been meaning to ask:  I assume, like most conventions, there will be some sort of dealer hall.  Do we know if some of the older vinyl figures will be being sold there?  I want Fluttershy and I'm trying to decide if I should pre-order it online or just pick it up at the con if I can.

I can't imagine we won't have the Funko figures for sale somewhere. I'd be surprised if not one of our nearly 30 vendors is selling them.

Anywho, some updates:
