writing NaNo WriMo

Hello other writers and forumgoers.

 

I've been thinking about actually writing a novel, so I decided to talk with some of my friends who do a lot more writing online than I do. So they told me about NaNo WriMo, or National Novel Writing Month.

 

Basically you sign up and through the month of November, you writer a 50k word novel on whatever topic fits within the rules of the competition.

 

But it's not a competition in the sense of "Best ____ Writer", it's more of a "Here's all the people who wrote 50k words in one month" competition.

 

In the rules it says that FanFics are acceptable, so I decided why not post this on the MLP forums? Get some bronies writing some really long fanfics. I know I'm going to.

 

If you're interested, here's a linksie. Maybe when the event gets a little closer and we get some more forumgoers onboard, we can all make a group or something and chat about writing and such.

 

Just a little idea, don't pay too much mind.

A friend told me about National Novel Writing Month last year and I found myself quite intrigued. The problem was, he told me about it halfway through November so there was no way I could get a small novel together in just two weeks.

 

This year, I'm faced with the challenge of maintaining MLP Forums while simultaneously developing two new websites on the side. I'd love to write a small novel for NaNoWriMo as a way to both stretch my creative writing skills and get a break from what is virtually guaranteed to be a snore of an English class; but I'm very worried whether I'll be able to make yet another time commitment.

 

To all who join, I wish you the very best of luck! This is a very easy challenge to slack off on, so take it not only as an opportunity to improve your writing, but your self-discipline and motivation as well!

I've done this about three times in a row, and only won once. However, I have a novel I'd like to belt out that I think will be very interesting, and have many plans for it. I'll FORCE myself, and I will win again! I hope I do, at least.

 

Oh yeah, and it will be non-pony related. It could technically be counted as a fanfic, though I'm not actually quite sure... I might take out the fan elements. I have to think about what I want.

I started my fanfic over the weekend, and I was like "This is a good premise, has some potential." Then I remembered the whole NaNoWriMo thing and I just went FUUUUU-

 

Can't submit it because it isn't being done in November.

A novel? *insert laughter here* I can barely keep my thoughts together as a writer most of the time, that's why I write short stories and oneshots. I've only ever written a few chaptered stories, and even then, I can't write on demand, it just doesn't happen. Good luck to all participating though, sounds fun.

Have you guys heard of the National-Novel-Writing-Month online "camp" thing?

From what I understand, they will be writing a novel in April.

I did nanowrimo last year about pokemon. I didn't get the goal. BUT this year, I will either finish a tale of 3 trainers, or make The Element of time! (A story about my OC as the seventh hero of time.)
